Homemade blue corn tortillas stacked with freshly-roasted, hand-pulled chicken, cheese & Tomatillo sauce, topped with sour cream (info from the website) I ordered the Custom Enchiladas with ground sirloin and their Deluxe Tomatillo sauce. It really could be 2 stars, but maybe it was just an "off night". Parking is a pain here, so elect for the free valet parking. You might luck out with on street, but... be prepared. My wife and daughter commented that their food really didn't have much flavor. They weren't very impressed. The chips (a little too oily and super thin that they break while trying to scoop the rather tasty salsa) were the savers of the day. As for my chicken tortilla soup? Ugh. Nothing special at all. I had hoped for something more .... hearty, but instead ended up with a bowl of bland vegetable soup with some very shredded chicken, a few slices of avocado and a hint of cilantro. Seasoning was surprisingly missing here. Adding salt helped. For us, it was a swing and a miss. We'd most likely not come back. There's too many other places to try, and others we'd return to before considering here. $40 including 2 Coronas plus tip, wasn't super expensive, but quality of food and service... not so great. read more

I love Mexican food so when I heard Chuy's was new in town I jumped at the opportunity to go for a co-workers birthday. We went during lunch time and the place was packed but the service was quick! What made Chuys different than other Mexican cuisines in the area is they fact that they offer a jalapeño ranch dip with their chips and salsa....TOOOO DIE FOR. I ordered the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (pictured). It's a enchilada dish made with hand pulled chicken and cheese and topped with their homemade boom boom sauce. It comes with beans and a house are rice that can either be mild or spicy. If you like a spicy dish you will love this! It had a different taste but i would definitely recommend. The parking situation is not ideal (It is in the heart of north hills)but Chuy's does validate tickets for valet parking. When I asked if they had a gluten free menu, the waiter brought me a piece of paper that said something along the lines of "every GF conversation should be with a manager, do not hand this paper to a guest"... We've been to the North Hills (Raleigh, NC) Chuy's (or should I say a sub-par Chili's, because that's the quality it reminded me of) twice before, about 2-3 years ago, and I have to say our experience this last time (3 days ago) was disappointing. The service was very slow, our server took over 10 minutes to even come to the table to take our drink order. My husband ordered the chicken burrito, and I ordered the Baja shrimp tacos. They gave him a beef burrito instead, and he decided to go ahead and eat it because it was going to take that much longer to send it back and have the correct one given to him. My shrimp tacos had zero sauce on them and honestly were not impressive. I notified the server that I didn't get any sauce (dry tacos are not great) and it seemed as if she could barely care. Then she pointed to the sauce they had brought out with the chips and salsa, saying, 'That's the same sauce, you can put that on them'... thanks. So, one of your main dishes is topped with an appetizer sauce? I don't know why that bothers me, but it does. AND, they got rid of the nacho bar! HUGE disappointment. I get it, Covid, but can't we find a way around that?! I am all about supporting restaurants during a difficult time such as Covid, but at some point, that can't continue to be an excuse for overall poor service and food quality. I'm guessing they were aware that lunch hour usually means customers want to get in and out quickly, but I felt like it was minutes between ordering and getting our plates. The food itself was not bad. The flavors were good (I wish it were a little spicier, but can't complain too much), but the portion size was enormous. I struggled to finish my burrito, but I did. The bean soup on the side was forgettable, though. Parking was thankfully not an issue, since the restaurant is a little away from the main hubbub of Harris Teeter and the surrounding restaurants. But if it were busy, I could see how it could be difficult to find decent parking. The space was clean and well-decorated. Instead of importing Chuy's from Austin, Raleigh should send Gonza to Texas. Should have read the reviews, but I'd been wanting to try this place out. Terrific location, easy parking, and the Mexi-Diner-style decor is clean, bright, and fun. Service was great, but having arrived around 1:45pm on a weekday with the restaurant literally to myself, I was easily attended to. Food was soft and bland but cost a premium anyway. Servings are large, beans and 'minute' rice are soft, poorly seasoned and unappetizing - the word "Denny's" popped into my head when I saw the platter and my taste buds agreed. Tortillas were thick and mildly rubbery; I found them inedible, and ate the contents from the inside out. Enchilada sauce was a bit like a ground chili paste. Missing sour cream or crema or something to make it taste better. Table salsa was good, but too much kick for cantina-style. That level of spice should be special-ordered. Anyway, I didn't eat much and then realized as I was handed a to-go box, that I really didn't want to take it with me. Not the best sign. If you must go, do so for drinks and chips with queso and guacamole (per another review) and sit outside to enjoy the amphitheater - but you're on your own if you order a meal here. read more

Opening Night! We arrived at 5 to an already full restaurant but no wait. It is large inside and can accommodate a lot of people in several different sections. They were well-staffed and everything was running pretty smooth. Plenty of staff to refill drinks, chips, etc. The food is fresh and delicious - no disputes there. I ordered the Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom Enchiladas (2) which sounded very tasty from the description but lacked anything distinctive in person. My wife ordered the Chicken Fajita Burrito which is HUGE and she really enjoyed it. It is actually .10 cheaper but proportionally WAY more food. So maybe some price adjustments are in order. The Enchiladas are tiny compared to the burrito and not worth the $10 price tag. The Chips and Salsa Fresca are very fresh. Chips are thin, crispy, crunchy and salty. Queso is available free in the bar during Happy Hour (4-7) Mon-Fri and was pretty good. I ordered a House Margarita ($1 off on Tues) so it was $4.75 = $1 per sip - was great but gone in seconds. The biggest negative which I am sure will come up in nearly every review is - THE PARKING IS AWFUL. Absolutely NO Handicap parking spaces remotely close to the restaurant. I do understand it is North Hills which has ALWAYS had terrible parking. We parked in the one (1) handicap space in the closest parking garage approx 100 yards away. I was so excited for Taco day and got my husband and our friends to dress up to get the free entrees advertised on Instagram and online. The general manager rudely told us we were not "good enough" and that we cannot get any free entrees. I asked where the guidelines were which she replied there were none. My best friend and I went to Chuy's for my birthday lunch. We've eaten lunch at Chuy's few times and I loved it whenever we came. I got my favorite(Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken) and my friend got one of their specials, I believe shrimp& cheese. Their chips were so good like always and their food was good, too! We got our food real quick like in 15minutes. My friend liked her food, she said her shrimp was big and tasty! I tried my friend's food, it was pretty good but I liked mine better, honestly! My chicken was really good, fried perfectly, it was crispy outside but very warm& soft inside. And I got a lot of cheese on top of my chicken! I've only tried few menus at Chuy's but other people's salads and burritos looked really good, too. I definitely recommend this place! Love the enviorment, decor, super super friendly staff that work their butts off serving, cleaning, arranging...just great staff!!! When you arrive, you're greeted with eclectic decorations such as a tribute to "The King" Elvis Presley and Hub Caps on the ceiling. The wait staff here is awesome. You're served up complimentary Chip/Salsa. You will also love the regular Margaritas. And the Tortillas are made fresh at the restaurant. Chuy's was recommended to my friend for their good food and great margaritas and I have to agree! Their margaritas were so smooth, it was definitely a nice change from the cheap, sour mix margaritas you get from other mexican restaurants. They have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating was nice and there was a cover so we weren't sitting out in the sun the whole time. Plus it overlooks a nice area where they apparently do some beachy music concerts--definitely something I will keep in mind for this summer! I ordered the chicken flautas and it was good, nothing too special BUT my friend ordered the chika chika boom boom and I will definitely be trying that next time! My friends practically licked the plate and said it was delicious, plus the boom boom sauce is one of their best! Parking was easy to find and the service was excellent! Only thing to note was that their prices aren't exactly as cheap as other mexican restaurants but I think the quality of the food and drinks make up for that. So we come to the infamous chuy's. i have known about it for awhile but never got around to trying this place out. to be perfectly honest we actually came to chuy's on a whim, we had another spot in mind but they were super packed so we went with chuy's. we walked and there was a few people eating in but not many which was fine with me. lol we were greeted and seated and then given menus. i will say the decor is definitely kinda" gimmicky " but fun to look at all the same with bright colors and plastic palm trees i think you get my point. but moving on after giving the menu the old once over i decided the chicken fajitas would do the trick. now the menu was your standard tex-mex fair and most dishes are served with fresh tortillas that are made in house right in front of you which is always a plus. Our hostess was nice and reasonably fast our food came out in no time at all. as i said i got the chicken fajita and my girlfriend got the "chuy-chunga". and please forgive me for not remembering what was in it , im not really a chuy- changa kinda guy but i know it came with bean and rice. lol we finally start to dig in and the food itself was good, i wouldn't write home about it.....so to speak..lol but i was fairly satisfied. i will say that the spiciness of the food did kind of overshadow the actual flavor of the dish to which my girlfriend agreed but other then that it was pretty good....just make sure you like spicy food! Pleasantly surprised by this place. It's not authentic Mexican by any means, but you can get yourself a great meal and a nice drink for a reasonable price. The creamy jalapeño dip is fantastic, as is their queso - make sure to hit the "nacho car" and get it for free M-F from 4-7 pm. In fact, I think I could be happily satisfied just off the free chips and dip as I wait, but that is besides the point. They have a variety of different drink/food specials for each day of the week so make sure to check the website. The Thursday special stuffed avocado is definitely calling my name. I had the fish tacos and they were pretty good! I would only add avocado, but then again I would add avocado to anything. Food was decent. Service was friendly. We went early so got seated quick. There's a random salsa/nacho bar in the trunk of a car where you can load up and fill up before your meal on which was good. My only complaint, was that it was a nightmare in there after 6. Tons of kids everywhere and mega loud. Great place if chaotic kid environments are your thing but if you're heading out with a few coworkers for a quick delicious bite, maybe go elsewhere.
