I normally dine at this location during lunchtime so tonight it was so different experiencing the vibe. After a very loud thunderstorm I decided to grab some Mexican for dinner. I was in mood for soup. Salt and Lime has a chicken poblano chowder on menu, the description in menu can't match the flavor of course. It's so smooth, creamy chowder with the freshest ingredients. Potatoes cooked to perfection, smoked flavored chicken, corn, bacon and cilantro so fresh, you will be looking on the patio for herb garden it must have grown in. Bringing all these simple ingredients together with cream and poblano elevates a simple chicken chowder into a meal. The crispy tortilla strips are just right crunch . My server was so diligent, not forgetting me dining al fresco. Beef empanadas are a fav of mine and tonight's were super flaky, light empanada dough cooked to perfection and spicy side dip plus I also like a tad of guacamole with mine. This is one of my family's favorite restaurants! The food here is great- we get the dip trio (the queso is the best) and they have a nice variety of salsas you can choose from. Their sangria is great as well! For mains, the steak fajitas are tasty. My grandpa loved the carne asada with shrimp. Overall, there are a lot of great, tasty items on the menu. We always enjoy coming in with our friends to this location. The staff members are friendly and the wait is never too long. It can be a little loud at times, but I chalk it up to lots of people enjoying their company! The food hasn't disappointed. Everything is made fast and served right on time. We were so looking forward to trying this spot but sadly, it was a very disappointing experience. We sat at a high top by the bar and the service was just horrible. It was not busy and I'm talking about 25 minutes before being able to order, never being checked on, having to flag down the male bartender who was serving us constantly and repeatedly to get anything, including our check. I'm struggling to write up this review. The service was good, the atmosphere was good, and the food was good but a few things stood out that had me pause and really think about coming back in the future. As I reflect the first point is I was not provided with any chips/salas like at most Mexican restaurants, I'm not sure if this is standard operating procedures or an oversight but I didn't ask and will own that and don't think it's necessarily fair for me to "hold that against them." The other thing I have to share is the pricing was not something I can get on board with! $17 for 3 birria tacos?! After the tacos, one margarita and tip I spend $40 on a subpar meal/dining experience. Sadly, I will consider other places where my money will go much further in the future. read more

Salt and Lime has always been my go-to for Mexican food in the Triangle. However, I'd always gone to the other location, so now that I live in Raleigh now and this location is closer, it only made sense to visit. I took a seat at the rectangular-shaped bar as I was coming in solo. They have so many tequilas and spirits displayed that they could put the local ABC store to shame. They do have various 3-tequila flights available at different levels, depending on how much you are willing to pay. For a cocktail, I tried their spicy watermelon margarita, which was a monthly special for July. It was pretty good, but it seemed like most of the spice was on the rim of the glass rather than in the cocktail. The drink was decent, the watermelon flavor was quite strong, I don't think I would order it again. Just looking for a snack, I got chips with sides of regular guac and Carribean salsa. I appreciate that the chips are not only homemade but served warm and seasoned with more than just salt. Plus the many salsas and guacamoles are made freshly, the proof is in the taste. We really enjoyed our meal! We ordered calamari and ceviche for starters. Both were so flavorful! The calamari was so tender. I got the carne asada tacos for my main. It had a really good balance of flavors. My sister ordered the steak burrito. It is definitely smaller than your average Chipotle burrito, but it honestly was the right amount. Then we had their molten lava cake which came with delicious ice cream made in house. We loved the ambiance as it had so much greenery. I have dined at Salt & Lime Grove Barton a few times now since it is local for me and super convenient. I typically visit during evenings for drinks and meals with friends. The service is always excellent and we have a favorite staff member who also works the bar. Recently the food has gotten better here & I enjoy a few menu items. The apricot habanero wings, chips & Queso, the cucumber jalapeño margarita and my favorite now is the Brisket & short rib Cabo burger with sweet potato fries. The brisket & short rib are moist, the burger is massive the sweet potato fries are thick, well seasoned and delicious. A excellent choice if you're hungry. This is the second location in the area so I was excited to visit based upon videos that I've seen on social media. This location is def larger than the other location. There is a parking lot outside and many tables inside. A huge bar is also inside of the restaurant. Our server came over right away and introduced himself. He was nice and very attentive. The restaurant offers lunch specials. For starters I got an order of queso that came with a big basket of seasoned tortilla chips. The queso was really good. For my entree I got the mahi tacos. Decided to give this place a try based on NC Eat & Play recommendations. Spouse enjoyed his traditional margarita and grilled BBQ Mahi Mahi street tacos. I tried his and found the fish a bit overcooked and under-sauced. The guac, salsas, and queso are good but the appetizers were probably a mistake with just two people to help share, and affected our appetites. We both had no trouble cleaning up a dessert special of peach & cherry streusel with vanilla ice cream and fresh mint. My monthly special entrée was a deconstructed grilled creamed enchilada with spinach, cheese, shrimp, and baby scallops. I found it a bit under-seasoned, but the spouse tried it and liked it so we just packed it up and took it home. If I were to go back, I'd go for the beer battered fish tacos or a salad. The staff, from the seating hostess to the server, were very helpful and prompt. The restaurant interior was pleasant, modern, and clean. I think we may favor a Gonza or Dos Taquitos flavor profile locally, but this was a good night out and we enjoyed our evening :) read more

Waiter (Thomas) knew the menu and accommodated some food allergies well, made great recommendations ("do this over that") which always helps when navigating a new spot. Goat cheese guac is great. Saw this place on Instagram and wanted to check out their new location. Jeff, the bartender, made excellent drinks and service! We ordered the Queso, House salsa, Calamari to start - all delicious! However, the Bangkok shrimp tacos were very sweet and not good at all. We sent it back and got the carne asada tacos instead - which were not much better, as the tortillas fell apart easily.
