They bought out a highly loved local gym chain, came in and started replacing the machines and weights in stages and getting rid of a lot of good equipment while not bothering to fix sticking cable machines that have been that way since they bought it out. It is ridiculous that I'm paying an upgraded membership to be able to use the "recovery room" BUT only if the front is staffed. The hydromassage beds should be activated by the key code and not by the front desk. There is no bathroom up front - you have to walk all the way to the back in the locker rooms. And that in the redesign they installed tanning beds which are known to significantly increase the risk of developing skin cancer seems counterproductive to a company fostering health and wellness. And speaking of construction why were members not given any sort of credit to compensate to not being able to use equipment including hydromassage?? read more

I've been a member at baileys for over 2 years now. I understand there is construction and a remodel. However, for the past 2-3 weeks 5 treadmills have been down, and 3-4 of the 7 stair masters have been down. Before chuze took over, machines were never down this long, if ever. On top of this, I was paying for a higher "premium" tier membership for the access to the training room in the back, which is now open to everyone.that being said, I feel like I am paying more than most others for the same benefits. Sad to see a good gym sellout to a chain. Once summer gets here I will be cancelling, and I would highly consider going elsewhere for a gym. read more

If you want to attend a gym where members are allowed to cuss out and raise their voice toward whoever they wish, including staff, this is the gym for you. If you want to attend a gym where an instructor and a member were allowed to interrupt an instructor's class more than once, and the head gym manager did nothing to fix it, this is the gym for you. If you want to go to a gym where the head gym manager neglects to hold safety as a priority, this is the gym for you. If you want to attend a gym that fired their hardworking custodians and expects their front desk workers to clean the gym / locker rooms, which they don't, this is the gym for you. Loved this gym prior to the Chuze acquisition. Since then, it's underwent a slow and disappointing descent to a far cry of what it was. The renovation was quite underwhelming, no new benches or machinery that's commonly utilized. To make matters worse, they appear to have permanently discontinued the use of vehicle key compartment boxes and, approximately a month ago, changed the music from classic rock (which nobody complained about) to dreadful pop/hip hop music that many would consider inappropriate for family audiences. Many of my fellow gym-goers share the same sentiments. Chuze should get familiarized with their demographics first, not every Chuze location is the same. After approximately 8 years of being a member, I plan on canceling my membership. read more

This gym could be so much better. (I have only used the St Augustine facility) Pros: Clean, open all day, good parking, moderately expensive. Cons: Lousy music played way to loud. You will need very expensive noise cancelling headphones. Why play music when most people don't listen to it or like it? They never play classic rock, country, oldies, or even jazz. It is all music for "urban" teens, which is weird, because the average age there is about 60. The air conditioning is terrible, unless you pay extra for a special exercise room. The front office is cooler than the gym......go figure! They do not maintain the equipment. They let it wear out or break, risking injury to the customer. They do not enforce any rules. They allow the muscle beach meat heads to reserve multiple pieces of equipment so they can "superset". Not good when it is crowded, which is most of the time. Bottom line...... This gym is very similar to PLANET FITNES, which costs about half as much. I joined Bailey's because they had better air conditioning, but now the Bailey's AC is worse. I will be leaving Bailey's at month end. read more

Cancellation 'protocol' changes with whomever you talk to - first you have to physically come in; then you have to give 30 days notice and will continue to be charged even if billing date is the 29th date. Then corporate says you can cancel via email or via website; but that was never communicated by anyone at this location. Only interested in taking your money. what an AWFUL experience with management. two days ago i purchased a premium membership in club and when i returned two days later my keycard for access to all facilities was not working. upon arrival today an employee told me "i'm not sure why you're keycard is not working, all i could say is to get the app". Once i downloaded the app, it didn't recognize any of my information and would not allow me to log in. while i understand chuze wants to use the app and start moving away from the keycards but it is an issue that i cannot gain any access in anyway at all while paying for premium membership. the employee buzzed me into the gym but on the way out i knew i would have to get this handled as i plan to take advantage of their 24 hour options. I first spoke to another employee who couldn't figure out why it wasn't working which honestly isn't an issue but one of the managers Tristin tried to aid me. Not only could she not identify what even was the issue, she continuously talked over me and offered no solutions other than "waiting an hour to see if it works". apparently the keycard takes 24 hours to work but it has already been over 50 hours since i registered in the club. I kept trying to explain this to her but was only met with rude replies about "what the computer says". For such a beautiful new gym the staff is absolutely terrible, i'm not here to judge new employees but the manager Tristin provided the WORST customer service i've ever received. and all of this still isn't resolved :/ read more

Love Love Love Bailey's. I haven't worked out since my old neighborhood's gym shut down when Covid hit. My brother took me there for the first time in December 2021 and got me back into working out. Ever since, I had to get my own membership and I've been there almost every day. Preston (great guy btw) explained to me the benefits to the membership I wanted, explained what happens if my card # changes, and told me about the cancellation fee. He even offered to have me try out the Hydrotherapy, which I didn't really need but will eventually take up the offer. Thanks Preston Bailey's is a clean gym, machines and free-weights are nice and looking new, and (most) of the people there are good people. Of course, the basketball court is a must for anybody that plays. Some of the balls need air, some are "egged", and some VERY small parts of the wood flooring need to be fixed, but the hoops and rims are perfect. Shooting there is a breeze but without the "breeze" and meeting new people there is fun. I always hit the sauna after weights and the court, and it's one of the most enjoyable parts of going to the gym. It's a great place to rejuvenate, but don't forget to drink water in there. The people in there are fun to talk to, too. Don't forget to greet your other members because you never know when a good conversation with good people will come. The only downside to the sauna is the fact that there's no steam in there, but it's still great to work up a sweat, relax your muscles, speed up your recovery, and when you get out and cool down, you feel pretty great. Just don't overdo it. After, if I have work or something important to do, it's time to hit the showers. The showers are cleaner than I thought they would be. You have 2 curtains and 2 areas in a SINGLE shower spot. One area has private spots to hang your towels/clothes and place items on a little bench, a mat on the floor to keep your belongings from getting wet, and the other area behind the 2nd curtain is the shower itself. The area is more than enough to move around in, has bars for the handicapped & to put your shampoo/conditioner (don't leave without them!), the shower head can be detached & the height is adjustable. No need to worry about hot water in my experience. Anyways, overall, I'm loving Bailey's and most of the people I've met there & it's a great place to lift weights, play basketball, and hit cardio for everybody. Most of the people at the front desk are good people & fun to talk to, too. I highly recommend coming here. Don't be discouraged if you're the smallest in the gym, the ripped dudes you see there started somewhere too. Now go get that pump in read more

Been a member at this gym for like 5 years. The last 3 years of membership I wasn't active and had no time to go. The last year, I paid the membership but was no longer able to go even once in a year. Just too busy and lost my drive. I ended up cancelling my month to month membership. They stop billing then restart it again, when I noticed it they said it was because it wasn't properly cancelled but I did. It stop billing and shows up again after a few months. I talked to my bank to find ways to block any future charges. They would try again but this time is being reversed. My bank put me in contact with people at corporate and claims it was my fault for again not properly cancelling a month to month membership. Of course my bank reversed it but it didn't end there. How many times you need to tell them to cancel? They filed a $500 for collection and kept on showing up in my credit report which I keep disputing. How was that possible when my membership was only less than $40 per month. On a month to month membership? Total fraud! This gym is bad news! Avoid this gym! Looks like a standard practice for these gyms. The other gym wants access to my checking account for my convenience:). LOL. No thanks! So my membership allows me to go to any branches. I only go to the Jax Beach, San Jose. They will make it so inconvenient to cancel membership like it's some kind of complex process. So much you miss the cutoff of the day they'll just charge you the entire month. Don't forget about the 30 days notice. The e-mail You need to send to corporate office and notify the head hancho. You miss it and the process starts again. They want their fingers in your pocket and use technicality. I think that's why I was a member for 5 years when I only actually used the first two. Customer service with membership agreements is maddening. I needed to cancel as I will not be working o out in a public gym due to covid. My year membership ran out during covid which I agreed to keep paying because I get the whole one year contract thing. But it automatically rolls into month to month and they kept charging me thru the covid shutdown! I called to cancel and they said I HAD TO COME IN. Similar to other bad reviews. They only play Fox News on their TV bank by the treadmills. I've asked them to add another outlet, but they say that their cable package only comes with Fox. I have never heard of a cable package that only comes with one news outlet. This gym has the harshest and most deceptive policies I've seen. They capitalized on COVID in order to enrich themselves using policies that they know are misleading, under the circumstances. I'm 66 years old and would not have considered going to a public gym after February. My pre-paid membership ended in July yet they "rolled" it on charging my credit card monthly hoping I wouldn't notice with their underhanded tactic so that the gravy train would carry on. They even charged me a renewal fee of $41, without my consent, 2 days ago, and refused to refund it, hiding behind fine print in the contract. Shameful and disingenuous! read more

I've been a member of Baileys for about two years and love it! Recently I wanted some major changes to my body after having a baby, so I talked with the sweat PT department and told them my goals. They put me with a trainer that was able to help me reach my goals, and more. I work out three days a week with Rick, my trainer, and he is constantly changing the workouts to keep me getting stronger and more fit. Rick listens to your goals and will make the workout to fit those goals. I am so happy with my decision to workout at Baileys and with Rick. read more

Bailey's Gym is the absolute worst. First off, I was a member and had a contract. I get contracts and all of that, however, when a worldwide pandemic happens (which is still happening, wear a mask) and I'm out of a job, can't pay, and won't be able to pay because I need to keep a roof over my head and eat, yeah I'd say that's a good reason to cancel. The fact that I called them to tell them that I could become homeless because I cannot pay and they tell me, and I quote "I'm sorry to hear that Mr. McBride but you still owe blah $ which you can pay to any of our locations" That is straight up the rudest and inhumane thing ever. I called not once, not twice, but three times to let you know that I couldn't pay. And all you guys ever cared is that you were getting money. I'm sorry but that isn't right. But since I'm a person that likes a change, I joined Bailey's... it was new, clean and plenty of different areas to do a work out. Mine and my husbands membership was due to expire on May 1, he went in the day before everything was shut down because of the virus, I was working and supposed to go in the next day to cancel mine so it would auto renew. Everything shut down so I called corporate several times with no answer and emailed corporate twice along with a copy of my membership card and heard nothing. RIDICULOUS! Don't sign anything with this gym! They will hold you hostage. The staff is unable, unwilling, or uneducated to help in the situation. I called to cancel my month-to-month on the 1st of the month and was told I would still have to pay for the month because, even though I fulfilled my 1-year contract several months earlier, they need a 30-day notice. I wasn't happy with that but agreed. So I assumed I was now canceled. I called back to make sure since I hadn't received a notice and they said, "Oh, you can't cancel with us, you have to send an email to corporate." O_o Why didn't you tell me that 3 days ago? I sent the email and now they are going to draft me for another month because the cancellation call doesn't count, only the email that was 3 days later due to the weekend counts! Ridiculous! So now I have to cancel my debit card to prevent them from drafting. I explained the incredible inconvenience of this and they have no care or consideration for anything other than their bottom line. I'm leaving because there is always broken equipment. They only have 5 stretching mats, but those mats are so old they are ripped and they shed on you and stain your clothes. The cable machines are old and not lubricated so it's hard to work with them. Some of the cables are frayed. The janitor will vacuum around you while you work out. And while they are continuously vacuuming, they never mop or clean the mirrors. Strange. read more

The guy that signed me up months ago still sees me and says hi whenever I walk in. The people that go there seem great. I honestly can't find anything to complain about with this gym. I joined Bailey's about 5 months ago. I was kind of apprehensive to join for many reasons. One, I don't know ANYTHING about fitness. How do all those machines work? Also, I had been a member of a gym in the past and it just wasn't successful. I did join a group fitness gym later and found some success with that, but the inflexibility of a group only gym just wasn't for me anymore. I was excited that Baileys had both options--group classes and a fully stocked floor with all kids of equipment. After a couple weeks at Baileys I joined the Sweat PT crew and that's when my body really started changing. That one-on-one training was exactly what I needed to not only become more knowledgeable, but also more confident on the gym floor. Now, going to the gym is something I look forward to. I love feeling active and healthy. The gym is always clean and well-kept. It does get busy from time to time, but I no longer find that intimidating or stressful. I know my fitness journey is just beginning, but I'm so excited about where I'm headed. read more

Since moving here I've been looking for a quality, clean gym that's close to home. Driving 1.5 hours to LA Fitness was no longer cutting it so I decided to try Bailey's. Definitely don't regret the decision. The facility is beautiful. Very clean, all the machines you could want, always enough free weights available and luckily never too crowded. I love the saunas and vast amount of cardio equipment. Never have to wait very long for something you need. Helped by Shawn when signing up, super nice guy, very helpful. Since then haven't really been enthralled by the staff but occasionally they greet you walking in. Love it being open 24-hours and having access to all the other locations too. For anyone who is a big lifter or prefers high end gyms in the area, this is definitely the place to be. read more

I've never really joined a gym before because I've always been super nervous. I was told about baileys and decided to give it a shot and it broke my gym anxiety. I love it here. It's so big, there's a sauna, there's everything. I love the classes they offer. I wish there were more yoga classes but it's balanced by the fact that they offer Pilates, TRX, power classes and spin classes!!! I always have something to do.
