I really wanted to like this place...but I didn't. First, I wasn't told prior to my appointment that you have to park in the lot that is actually for the apartment complex next to the salon if their tiny back lot and side street is full - I was worried I would get a ticket but they said no one ever had - I'm glad I didn't. You can tell there's not a community feel - that these are definitely stylists working for themselves and renting a chair. I didn't know I was a person that didn't like this until I was there - there's no sense of commonality or a team feel. The atmosphere was lacking - there was a radio playing but the walls are pretty bare and it was pretty cold inside temperature-wise. The stylist I had was very sloppy in the application of my color - getting it on my cheeks and temples and forehead - I have been getting my hair colored for years and this is definitely not what I am used to. What I didn't know is that the stylist I saw hasn't been doing this for long and had recently gotten her license - within the past year or so. I didn't feel pampered, didn't feel like much attention was being paid to me - my color wasn't even timed. The color washed out after one wash on the grays that I needed covering. I contacted the stylist to have it redone but she wasn't able to get me back in right away due to illness - this I understand, and took it as a sign to not go back. I get that everyone needs to learn, etc., and it was my mistake for not researching a bit more before making the appointment, and it was the night before the big blizzard, however, I do expect to get excellent service when paying for it and I cannot say that I did. My main reason for trying this place out was convenience as my usual stylist is a 35-minute drive. Lesson learned. read more

Dante is amazing! I have been coming to him for a few years for my blowouts. My schedule keeps getting crazier by the week, and my blowouts are one of the few things that I do to pamper myself. He is incredibly talented, and I walk out feeling fabulous everytime. They offer a long list of services, location is convenient (Elmwood near Kenmore Mercy), and the staff are wonderful. The best place to get your hair done. Dante is always accommodating to my needs and adds his professional suggestions to create magic. I always come out of there feeling prettier all thanks to him. Have always gone in for color, blowout and a cut. It's been a great experience every time. Most other places I've been to have led to damaged hair. Dante takes special care with my hair and handles hair color in sessions that your hair can handle without causing breakage or rough brassy hair. I have dark hair so getting lighter was always tough at other places I've been to. Dante has carefully transitioned me to lighter and fuller hair keeping my roots and strands healthy. Unprofessional and callous. Called twice, played phone tag all day, decided to just come in since it was only a haircut. Three women sitting at the front desk. One giving another a massage. It was 3:30, they close at 8. They said they were booked after they looked us and deemed us unworthy. I had to explain to my daughter why there are some people not worth her time. I just wanted her to have a haircut and these terrible women made us feel like the dirt on their bottom of their shoes. They made no motion to try to gain new business and book an appointment for later. We went to another salon in Kenmore that made my daughter feel and look even more beautiful. I will be all too willing to recall our experience at both establishments. I am embarrassed this experience ever happened because a salon is supposed to make you feel beautiful, this place is ugly inside and out. read more

This is most certainly not the worst place I had my nails done at, but it's mediocre at best. Sloppy job with cuticles, no hand massage, and my nail polish bubbled and smeared as soon as I walked out the door. Also, the place did not appear to be clean and instead of a proper bowl to soak my nails in, I got some weird food bowl over which I had to literally bend over to keep my hands in it as it was very awkward, tall and uncomfortable. Not to mention that, as I was still drying my hands, the lady started cleaning the tub behind me with strong chemicals and didn't seem to notice that I started coughing A LOT as I'm asthmatic. I went to Pella Bella Esthetics (part of Ciao Bella Hair) thanks to a Living Social deal. I went in for waxing and for a facial and was really pleased with the experience. Gabriella is your girl for all things skin-related, and she knows what she is doing. I went in while I was pregnant... and she recommended (and introduced me to) sugaring instead of traditional waxing. Loved it. The cranberry facial was SO refreshing. My skin felt delicious afterwards. The only (very minor) downside was location: the room we were in was inches away from the rest of the very busy, noisy salon. So it cut down on my spa experience a bit.... But-- aside from the environment-- I was very happy with Gabriella's services. read more

I got a spa pedicure here from a Groupon deal, and I was pleasantly surprised! The other reviews made me cautious, but the woman who did my pedicure was lovely. I waited to see how the polish would last before doing this review. It has now been a week, and the polish looks great. Everything in the mani/pedi room was clean, and there was a lot of polish to choose from. The every day prices seem steep, but it was cheap with the Groupon. read more

Where to start.. well, I came into Ciao Bella to have my hair lightened I was thinking something along the lines of an ombré, maybe balayage I wasn't sure but I definitely wanted something light and noticeable. What I got after paying 150 dollars which is their price for an ombre was a couple (maybe 15 foils total) small high lights that are barely noticeable in my thick hair. I am so disappointed and I feel like I was ripped off completely. My service seemed rushed and my stylist spent most of her time on the phone (while doing my hair) or talking other stylists, her focus was not me or my hair.. furthermore, she put color on my roots I did not request that she also trimmed the ends off my hair and although it didn't make a difference at all in its appearance the trim was also not requested. The only reason I put two stars instead of one, was because I did not have to wait very long.. but again I think that's because the girl who did my hair wanted me in and out and didn't want to do my hair in the first place. Just awful!!!... UPDATE: just talked to the owner told her my concerns and how I felt I overpaid her response- "ya know I knew you were gonna call and complain you know why? Dante is absolutely the worst. I had my hair done by him one time and he did a great job with a beautiful cut/color. About a year later I went back to him for a trim and ombré coloring. I showed him a picture and he said he could do it. After bleaching the entire bottom half of my hair (and ruining my shirt) and using a permanent color on my crown that is much lighter than my natural color, I went home and showed my husband. At first I didn't really see much wrong with it because it was dark but the next day, in the light I saw that my hair was yellow. Straight up Barbie doll yellow. I called him back a few days later (when I had time), and calmly told him what was going on and asked him to fix it and he told me that I "needed to stop being a little bitch." Now, several months later and about $750 later, in between deep conditioning treatments to save my poor dehydrated bleached hair, color corrections to just a downright overhaul, I finally decided to write this review. He is absolutely the WORST! Not just the fact that he didn't just say, "no I can't do that for you" but he told me to stop being a bitch. I expect to be treated with respect when I go to get services done. I don't want to go to a salon and hear about the stylists' trips to Vegas or other places because my stylist is too busy talking to the stylist NEXT to me while working on MY hair. This kid is a joke. Luckily I found an AMAZING stylist who did a complete overhaul on my hair and made it amazing and the coloring exactly how I wanted! read more

Went for a hair cut, that was mediocre at best. No one told me they don't take credit/debit card, only cash. They suggested I go to the gas station next store that has an ATM. Why would I pay a $3.50 surcharge?? I told them I would go to my own banks ATM and be back. This was after a long day at work. I went there several weeks ago and had my hair cut by, I believe her name was Diane. There was only 1 other customer in there and 3 or 4 employees walking around not even acknowledging me. Finally, one of them said "may I help you?" Well yeh, if I'm standing here I thought! I had the cut, I can't say she did a terrible job, as it didn't look like she did anything.
