The install of the new propane tank was seamless. A week after our change to Davis Oil for propane, our hot water tank died. Our elderly parents live with us and hot water is very important to meet their daily needs. It was a weekend so we called Davis Oil on Monday and by Monday afternoon (the same day!) we had a brand new hot water heater installed. We couldn't be happier with the service we received. I went into Davis Oil to address a bill that was sent to my parents. I had no ponies in this race, and had the money "owed" in my pocket. Steve immediately verbally attacked me as soon as I entered their storefront, and stated why I was there. He criticized me for being disabled (which I am ) saying that "people like you always like to play the victim", and that he could not actually produce any evidence that my parents owed any monies to their company. He continued to ridicule me as I left the building. Again, I had no skin in this game. I had money in my pocket to pay if he could prove why I should. I would be EMBARRASSED if I were Davis Oil. They ought to be ASHAMED of themselves. I was ridiculed and berated for being handicapped, and I didn't even owe them money. This was one of the most blatant money grabs I have ever witnessed, with no proof, and then subsequently attacking the people who said, "No." I will never use this company because I already thought they weren't great. After witnessing how they treat their actual customers/advocates for their customers? Hard pass.

It had snowed and it was very deep. He sent one person to pick up the tank that same day. The man was unable to removed it alone. I really thought he might have a heartattack or something. He called for help and over an hour later a truck came. The two men and truck were able to move it. It was 1/4 full. The company would not refund the money for the left over propane.

Then I saw Dead River advertising $2.39/gallon. When I called Matt about matching a better rate, he initially offered $3.79, and only matched Dead River's price after I said I was leaving. The final straw was a boiler service call: The tech replaced a thermocouple, but the issue persisted. Turns out, one of our two tanks (which they've filled for years) was empty--they forgot to fill the main house tank. We were without heat and hot water during a big family gathering from out of town. As a 'will-call' customer, I was told emergency delivery would cost extra, though they provided 100 gallons as a 'courtesy.' Worst part: The thermocouple wasn't faulty; the problem was the empty tank. Yet they still charged the full service fee for diagnosing their own delivery mistake. I've switched to Dead River (along with several friends and even some Ciardelli employees I've heard from). It's disappointing--wanted to support a local, family-owned business, but I felt treated more like a profit source than a valued long-term customer. I finally reached out to Cota & Cota, seeing that they offered plumbing services. They said they typically only provided those services to gas customers (we were buying from Bob's), but I told them we were desperate, so they agreed to help. They showed up within 24 hours every time I called (which was at least five times over one summer) to get patch work done. Eventually, we decided on doing a full pipe replacement. They completed that work in 48 hours, and they did so despite a low electrical current running through the pipes thanks to dome DIY wiring the previous owners did and decided not to tell us about. We still need a new filtration system to reduce the acidity of our well water, but we now have functional pipes (mostly plastic). As far as I'm concerned, this company saved our home, and we are forever grateful.

Communication with the company was easy, their policies were clear and their proficiency was excellent. The crew that came to the house was experienced and lively. The new furnace is quiet, a beautiful yellow color with bright new copper pipes. (Who knew an artist could fall in love with a furnace and have the supervisor of the work crew suggest the name of Banana Split? What fun we had with that.) I requested a pick-up in Brattleboro VT but got stuck picking up our rental at this Keene location. The experience started off rocky when the first message I got from the team here was telling me that I would have to pick the truck up at this location and there wasn't anything else I could do about moving the pick-up closer to my original request. He also told me what time I needed to pick it up, and then was frustrated that I wanted to pick up later in the day. When I arrived at the location, the truck was waiting for me which was nice, but Jeff the manager was the worst employee I have ever worked with at a Uhaul. He didn't greet me, seemed frustrated that he had to put together the contract, and since I had a gift certificate from a previous rental, he seemed pissed he had to enter it. At the end I left feeling frustrated, but the biggest frustration was the fact he didn't offer to help me load my car on the dolly. Thankfully I have done it before but if I hadn't had previous experience then I could have messed up and let my car be incorrectly loaded. Moral of the story, Uhaul, get your act together and look at the other 6 reviews for this store that all share a similar thread. The manager here is terrible.

1 star is too many stars -- Five years of frozen regulators, water in my then brand new tank, and…read moreno accountability I've been a customer of Rymes/Superior Propane since 2018, and I can say without hesitation: do not use this company if you have any other option. Since May 2021, I have dealt with six separate frozen regulator failures at my property -- a recurring problem that multiple Rymes/Superior employees and my independent licensed plumber all attributed to the same root cause: water in the lines/tank. 5/24/21 -- Regulator failure; entire house smelled of propane. 2/04/23 -- Frozen regulator, pipes froze. Cost me $1,100 out of pocket. 2/18/23 -- Froze again two weeks later. 11/29/23 -- Froze again after a delivery. Cost me $250 out of pocket. Was told to have handyman insulate the regulator because Rymes wouldn't fix the actual problem. 12/14/24 -- Froze again. 12/06/25 -- Froze again, with the tank at just 18% and no automatic delivery triggered -- a failure of their own delivery system. This spring, they drained the propane in my tank (poof, in the air) and it was confirmed that there was water in my underground tank. They finally replaced the tank this month. To add insult to injury, in the process caused $4,498 in damage to my driveway (their insurance did cover this, to their credit). Beyond these failures, customer service has been consistently abysmal. I once spent 2 hours and 16 minutes on hold just trying to reach a live person about an active freeze up. In addition, I am currently paying $0.92 more per gallon than their competitor charges. In total: over $33,623 spent with this company, $1,600 in additional costs directly caused by their negligence, five years of stress, and property damage. If you're considering Rymes/Superior Propane, look elsewhere!
