Had a 7:30pm reservation for my wife's birthday. At 8pm, after standing in the crowded and small area around the hostess table with 25 others who had reservations we left. This place has too much business and clearly does not care about its customers as they clearly overbook and just make you wait. Well, not us. And not again. You have lost a chance at earning a possible loyal customer. Happy to share my experience with others who ask me for local recommendations. My husband and I went to Cibao last night to celebrate his birthday. We had a 7:30 pm reservation but were not seated until almost 8pm. (This is no surprise in Naples during season, however) The service was attentive. HOWEVER, I would have to disagree with the people who rave about the food. First and foremost, Cibao advertises "American dishes with a Caribbean flair"; this was part of the reason we chose the restaurant. We couldn't find much on the menu that had any sort of "Caribbean flair", unfortunately. Because we were unable to find any dishes with the complex flavours of the Carribean, we realigned our taste buds and ordered "American". We shared a Caesar salad, which was good. It would have been too much for one person. My husband ordered a rare Filet Mignon, which was served with very good scalloped potatoes and asparagus. No problem there. I ordered scallops. The scallops arrived with the same scalloped potatoes and asparagus! The two plates were identical with the exception of the meat/seafood. This is just lazy on the part of the kitchen. Scallops are a much lighter entree and deserve to be accompanied by items which enhance their flavour, not overwhelm it. Naples is well know for restaurants that charge a lot for less than excellent food. They have the luxury of too many tourists and stop trying to be the best that they can be. I have never before felt compelled to write a review! I was greatly disappointed by how incompetent they run their reservations. We had a 6:15 reservations and were told it would just be s few minutes. "Go get a drink,...." Well, was I there to drink? Not really. You know this Naples crowd starts early, but I was thinking about this gourmet dinner I was about to indulge myself in. Didn't happen. . finally had enough!!! We moved to Naples from Indiana almost six years ago and our new neighbors introduced us to Ciabo. What a wonderful place with excellent customer service! It's always busy so you definitely want to make a reservation ahead of time. However, we always get seated immediately with our reservation and the food never disappoints. We frequent there with our neighbors to this day and have never had a negative thing to say about the place. Top notch everything. Food. Wait staff. Turnaround times. All of it is great! read more

Overbooked, but as we were a 2 we got a bar side table after a 15 minute wait. Other diners in 4+ groups were waiting up to 45 minutes even though,like us, they had booked. After another 20 minutes we got drinks,my wife had a Prosecco which she said was O K ,I had the worst glass of N Z Sauvignon I can remember. My Caesar salad was offered to the next table but I realised it was mine when they refused it. I ordered the Coconut Grouper,my wife the Irish stew. The Grouper was inedible sweet so I quickly changed to the stew,my wife said"you shouldn't have done that",I found out what she meant,the stew was a mass of gristle. The waiter said"different people have different tastes" , he was right about that. They did not charge us in full,which was just as well as we did not eat the stew. I find the good reviews inexplicable based on our experience. read more

I just vistied this place in the off season of Late July. I don't know that I have ever been treated with such appreciation. The food was excellent and ya gotta check out the wine. It is a small location so plan accordingly and I guarantee during season reservations will be needed in advance. U R missing a real gem by bypassing this place. At the recommendation of frequent visitors to Naples & Cibao, we made reservations & certainly weren't disappointed with our dinner this evening. The service was excellent, the drinks were certainly worth the money, and food was superb! We enjoyed a filet Philadelphia style and the Walleye and both entrees were perfectly prepared. The staff is most accommodating & we never felt rushed. It was our favorite evening in our visit to Naples. read more

I have been going to the local eatery for a couple years ago when we are in Naples during the winter. Pedro and Pamela, owners, always treat all of their guests so well. Daily specials and regular favorites fill nicely-rounded menu. Small, seat 40, so during season make reservations as it is normally busy. Also open for lunch. A few tables outside, but in a strip mall so outside is not necessary scenic. Reasonably priced. read more

I went to Cibao for the first time on December 31st for a romantic dinner with the boyfriend. Couldn't have been more impressed. The restaurant was beautiful. The prime rib special on Thursday evening is the best I've ever had. New Years Eve at Cibao Grille is the best. The staff is marvelous.

I have dined at this restaurant a number of times, and the quality of the food and service have been quite good. The wine servings are ample, and the Havana Pork Chop is outstanding. However, on our most recent visit, six of us arrived for our 7pm reservation precisely on time. Yet, there was a "mini mob scene" at the door. We had made our reservation three months in advance. Yet, we were told by people standing at the door that they had been waiting there for over 45 minutes. (Friends have recounted similar waits of one hour, despite a reservation.) This might be tolerable if the restaurant had a large bar area in which to wait. But it does not. All bar seats are occupied by diners. Not all of our party would have been able to stand for an hour. At 7 p.m. in Naples, Florida in February, it would have been virtually impossible to walk in to another restaurant. Fortunately, we belong to a private club which is a 30 minute drive away. They were able to accommodate us. I made desperate (but successful) effort to contact the solitary hostess in order to inform her that we were leaving. She seemed to be manning her desk solo, and seemed frustrated. She barely acknowledged the information that I gave her, made no note of it, nor thanked me for my courtesy. (And I was courteous.) We escaped unharmed! Yogi Berra once said of a New Jersey restaurant: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded." This is hardly a successful long range business plan for a restaurant! I must note that, in the midst of our recent encounter, I did not once notice an individual of managerial authority attempting to take control of the situation. I can only infer that Cibao either overbooked or was understaffed. Sadly, the restaurant has now joined our basket of "Big Deal, Not Worth It" establishments. read more

We visited the restaurant for lunch. There were five of us but the restaurant had only three tables occupied. We were told that they didn't have any room unless we had a reservation. We thought that was strange given the restaurant was virtually empty. We decided to go to another restaurant in the same shopping center. When finished with lunch we walked by the restaurant again. It was empty except for a few tables. Obviously we were lied to about all the tables being reserved. Why a restaurant would turn away business is hard to imagine. We were appropriately dressed, retired people that included two military veterans. Why we should be refused service we don't know. But our treatment certainly left a very bad feeling about Cibao. read more

If you are looking for a quick in and out place, go for the chain restaurants. This place is amazing! They take there time serving you and never rushing you to finish. Go early during prime season if you don't want to wait. Ask for recommendations on drinks. My wife and I have never had a bad experience here. We have been to Cibao many times since it opened and the experience was great both in season and off season. Last night we had a reservation for 7:30 but it the restaurant looked like pure chaos upon arrival. We were right! We waited for 45 minutes and still no table just a bunch of excuses from the hostess. Our request to speak with the manager or owner went without response. At that point, we departed at 8:40. I just left Cibao. A friend made a reservation for four of us. I called the owner, Pedro, two days ago and requested a table against the west wall because of my wife's hearing problem. I was told that would not be a problem. When we arrived at the restaurant our friends were seated at a table. I pointed out to the owner that the table was not one that he said we could have. I mentioned to him this is the second time this exact same thing happened. The owner, in a great display of public relations, said I could leave the restaurant. Since our friends were already seated, we opted to remain for this one last dinner in Cibao. The food was very good. The demeanor of the owner was not. I had visited Cibao over theyears, especially in the summer, when customers are usually welcome in restaurants. I will no longer set foot in the place. read more

We have come to Cibao at least every two weeks winter and summer for several years. We have always found food and service good . Tonight we had a reservation for 7 pm. Many people were waiting when we arrived and no one was being seated.No apology from Pedro(who knows us). After 45 min we left. Success has gone to Pedro's head. Cibao Grill was recommended to my wife and I by a fiend who lives in the area. What a great place! We were not expecting such beautiful decor but the restaurant has the ambience of any fine dining establishment and better than most. I wouldn't write a 5 Star review for just one experience but we have been back and both of our experiences were outstanding! Our servers, Maria, Tricia and Sadie were as pleasant and attentive as anyone we've ever had. Their recommendations were spot on. We mentioned we were going to share our two entrees and low and behold they came out already divided! Let's get to the important part. The food is just outstanding! The scallops, coconut crusted grouper, chicken piccata and the filets are all unique and done to perfection. We can't wait to try even more of the menu. Cibao also pours a good drink, not over priced shots or small glasses of wine ,but rather, drinks that are big and reasonable. I also pay particular attention to details. All you need to do is go into the well appointed and spotless restrooms to know that they pay attention to detail also. All in all we both agree that this is a "must" place to visit!!!
