    Chicken & quinoa salad

Cute little place right on the river, service was great. Parking was rather annoying, had to street park a couple blocks away. Had a bruschetta app, chicken quinoa salad, and the daily soup- carrot something (maybe honey/dill?). The soup was delicious, as well as the salad. Good portion sizes. The bruschetta was decent, I liked that you could mix it up with three different flavors. Would recommend this place if you're in town.

Love this place for brunch! The restaurant is located in a great location and has a great view. Their smash burger is really good and highly recommend that. The Greek Salad and calamari were great portions for the table. Casual vibes and friendly servers. I would come back again!

Everything was perfect (well, a bit expensive). I had the octopus and I've never had a more unique dish at a 'cafe'. The cocktails run sweet. The server was phenomenal. The bathrooms were a bit of a mess and I sadly took a star for that.

Went with my boyfriend on a date night. The patio had a beaten view with a sunset! The sever was very nice and the drinks were excellent! I recommend!

The Salmon with Garbanzo beans is in and of itself worth the visit to Winnipeg. This gem of a restaurant is situated on the bank of the Red River in a former pump house which supplied hydrants for the Winnipeg fire brigade. The fig bruscetta is out of this world. River views are majestic and the service exceptional.

Cibo opened about a month or so ago in the former Amy Street Steam Plant (in 1923) at the foot of Rupert Avenue. Cibo is tucked right behind The Mere Hotel which is this funky colourfully striped box structure near the condos on Waterfront Drive. This eatery is associated with the hotel but oddly enough doesn't provide room service to the hotel. We didn't spot Cibo right away so the easiest directions is to park on Waterfront in front of the hotel on street parking and walk through the lobby and straight through and you'll get to the adjacent building. Apparently there's only a couple of spots for the eatery so it's easiest to park on the street. The long rectangular space has high ceilings, a bar on the right side when you walk in with a large open dining space in the back. There's lots of windows to give you a spectacular view (more so in the summer but even in the dead of winter) of the Red River and all that is Winnipeg. The vibe is fun, cool and relaxed where the menu offers up lots of bruschettas, antipasto, pasta, pizza, pannino and grilled items. Their wine menu could be improved a lot more as a space like this would definitely benefit from a wider wine selection and more by the glass. Service was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The best items were the bruschetta as there are 7 flavours to choose from plus a special. For $12 you can choose a combination of 3 - brie/apple/balsamic, mushroom herbed goat cheese and the artichoke/pesto/parmesan were all delish. Burger ($14) - beef patty with pickled shallot and reggiano aioli was a let down as the patty was overcooked and completely dried out with too much aioli and the matchstick fries were soggy and stuck together like hashbrowns. The lamb and mint pizza ($18) has ground lamb, shallot, parsley and mint. The crust is thin crispy with a very slight chew. The pizza needed more flavour as there wasn't much to the ground lamb meat and there was no discernible mint flavour. Overall, I would go back and try other items and their breakfast too. But definitely a good place to have a drink and some eats in a cool space especially if you're going to the MTC or Concert Hall for a show. Really great to see how busy this place was on a week day evening in the first month of opening. ***** I've gone back 2 more times since my first visit. Sunday lunch was quiet and breakfast ends at 11 am so we had to order off the regular menu. I loved the carbonara $14 - double smoked bacon, yolk, chili and pecorino. I don't usually order pasta as it's not a fave for me but this dish was pretty damn good. It wasn't as heavy as a traditional carbonara though I am not saying this dish was light in calories by any means. There was a nice heat to this dish and all the components were just perfection. Get this one. The spanish chicken panino $14 - paprika, chicken, spanish goat cheese, peppers. Excellent sandwich. Fries were still soggy. Third visit was a friday lunch - it was very busy with nearly all tables taken. I had the pear and prosciutto thin crust pizza $16 - there was fresh arugular sprinkled on top of the pear and prosciutto and blue cheese. A decent pizza with good flavour but crust was not the same as my last visit and tasted more thin and cracker like. Service has been good and decently knowledgeable. I love the space here.

Once I was seated and we had ordered the server proceeded to tell us they had a reservation shortly for this table. Then why didn't you say anything before I was seated and ordered or move us to another table. And the whole time I was trying to stuff food into me we were getting dirty looks from all the servers. I get that it is a pain to have people sit for a bit but we were trying to have a meal and a visit. I guess next time we will got somewhere that allows us to eat slow and relax My friend gave the server her AMEX to pay. She came back to the table and said sorry it didn't go through. How embarrassing for my friend. She used another card. Later called the restaurant and was told they don't accept AMEX. So why didn't the server say that. Instead she said it didn't go through and embarrassed her for no reason. Luckily she was with friends who understood not business clients. May be time to switch to a new favorite restaurant in my location.

Taverna Rodos is located in Charleswood, and was quite popular when I went here recently with a friend. I had the pork souvlaki, which came with a lot of rice and even more vegetables. I'll be honest, I enjoyed the rice and veggies way more than the pork lol. The pork felt quite dry sadly, if it wasn't for the spices it would've been worse. Service is excellent. I'm sure there are other better items here given the plentiful menu options. I'm content on giving this 3-stars for now and re-evaluate if I decide to return here.

It was around 8 pm when the boy got hungry and really wanted Thai food so we started searching for what was open. On a Tuesday lateish dinner night, unfortunately most options were closed until we luckily found this spot! Ended up trying the Tom Kha Soup - which was delicious, creamy with the coconut milk & plentiful with the veggies. Overall, the soup was great & came in a good portion. We also tried the Basil Fried rice with vegetables, and this was delicious as well. There were lots of veggies here but what I really liked was that the flavor of the rice was light but very tasty. Would recommend one to check this place out!

We had questions and he was patient and attentive. He answered our questions politely and cheerfully. The server was also earnest and brought out more water when we asked for more. The seafood pad Thai was tasty and very sweet. Maybe a little bit too sweet. I also wish there were a bit more shrimps in the dish. I love that the cashier asked us how spicy should he make the food. I said not spicy at all and my friend said 6 out of 10 spicyness level. The Thai ice tea was a bit too sugary. I got a sugar high from it lol. I would give this restaurant 5 stars but the inside of the building where we were seated had no air conditioning. A fan was all that was there. The outside air was colder than the inside of the restaurant were we were. We ended up sweating a bit. It was uncomfortable for my friend who was also eating a spicy meal. The inside decor of the restaurant wasn't super interesting but it was not shabby.
