We booked a table of six at CIBOs for lunch on a Sunday with friends. Traffic in the restaurant was light and its abundance of light and ambience make it easy to spend time there. My lunch, the steak and beet salad was tasty but I thought they kind of killed it with the arugula! It should have been billed as an arugula salad with steak and beets... Never did see the goat cheese. My wife and one friend ordered the pasta carbonara and gave it top marks! read more

Unforgivable service. Slow, accommodating and surely. The food is serviceable but nothing extraordinary. The venue itself is nice however.

There are numerous menu items I am interested to try so I have to return. On this visit, I has the beef bourguignon poutine and the Barletta pizza. While I enjoyed the flavour of the poutine dish, I would prefer thicker fries as the shoestring fries were basically like hickory sticks. But the pizza was absolutely delicious! As for the view, being on the water, there is great potential but in the evening, bright interior lights result in nothing being visible through the windows. read more

Went here with some people I met on Bumble Bizz! We were lucky and got a spot next to the big window at the back which has an awesome view. The service here was great and everyone enjoyed their food. And it was great after to go out back and stand on the balcony. Great spot for a restaurant. Definitely recommend! read more

I ate at cibo's and we ordered a mushroom pizza, sea food pizza, and cibo pizza. All the pizza's were really good-mushroom the best. We ordered fries too and they were delicious, they are so thin they are almost like hickory sticks. The ice tea is 10/10, best iced tea I've ever had. For desert we ordered CBC cake. It has jam in the middle and ice cream on the top. I'm a desert person and I didn't love it. If I had to complain about anything it's the service. They appeared understaffed, as we didn't get seated for 15 minutes. And unfortunately when we got seated, nobody helped us or took our order for 20 minutes at least. Food is great though! read more

I was looking forward to lunch here as I'd heard a lot of good things about the food. Plus they had arancini on the menu--a Sicilian treat not commonly found in Winnipeg (Pasquale's has had suppli, the Roman version, for decades). My lunch partner had the beef bourguignon poutine. It looked like a hot mess, but it's poutine, so that's to be expected. I did not try it, but she did not care for it and left about half. She didn't elaborate on why she didn't like it, so I will give the kitchen the benefit of the doubt, and chalk this one up to personal taste. I had the daily soup (chicken noodle) and caesar salad, plus a single arancini. I was surprised at how flavourless the arancini was--the risotto, the filling, and the surrounding tomato "sauce" were all tasteless except for the "flavour" of oil in the sauce. I suspect they didn't use "real" risotto for the arancini, as the rice was much drier than one would expect from leftover risotto. The sauce wasn't so much a sauce, but more like a dry pico de gallo in terms of texture, but this seemed to be more onion than tomato. If you like onions, you'd like this. But if you prefer the flavour of tomatoes, this is not the accompaniment for you. This whole dish could have used a good dosing of salt. The caesar salad did not fare much better. The salad was dressed in too much oil and not enough of any other flavour. I had to try to get some of the prosciutto with each bite, just so I could get some flavour. The chicken noodle soup, however, had enough salt for all the food at our table. Take away the salt, and I think the soup actually had good chicken flavour. But it was overwhelmed by the salt. Note to the kitchen--I know it's chicken noodle soup, but try cooking the noodles to order and adding it to the soup. It would help avoid mushiness. Service was fine, though given there were only a few other tables occupied, I would have expected more attention. I would have liked more water refills, especially once I started eating that soup, but I don't remember getting more than one. It is a very nice restaurant, though. They did a great job with the renovations, keeping the character of the old building but giving it a modern, sophisticated air. I feel that could almost apply to the food, too. The menu items appear to have a modern sophisticated air, but the final product is lacking in execution. If other people wanted to eat here, I would go. I feel I should give this place another try, after all, rather than judge the food on just one experience. But as it stands, I'm in no hurry to return. read more

A very nice little restaurant. We stayed at the Mere Hotel which is right in front of it so decided to try the Cibo for supper after a walk from the Forks. It was on a Saturday evening and they were busy but we didn't have to wait for a table. Had a window seat so could see out on the river. Service was good and the food was excellent. Hubby Had the bolognese and I had the carbonara. Also shared a Caesar salad. All was great! read more

I was very disappointed with the service. Our food was pretty cold and the restaurant was pretty empty so when you see chefs standing around in the kitchen doing nothing that's pretty upsetting. They mixed up our order twice and then overcharged us...I tried to make myself like this place but the food is nothing special and quite bland. Oh and it's OVERPRICED. Even though it was a crazy busy lunch hour and our food took a really long time to come out, the management bent over backwards to make sure it was a great experience. Very Good Burger for Burger week. TERRIBLE SERVICE! We had a 1:00pm reservation for lunch since we wanted to try their burger for Burger week. Tip for those wanting to sit by the window close to river. The tables on that level are not for reservations. People can walk by you with no reservation and go past you. We were seated and wanted to move to that upper level. So we waited and watched other people that came after us go to tables they cleared for them. I complained and was told they had to sit them. Which I thought was unusual since we were there before them. Okay once we seated we did order. We then watched 4 other tables that came in after us get their food before us. I complained again to the boss, the person in charge explained that 1 of the tables ordered something easy to prepare. We said ok but the other 3 ordered burgers like we did. He did offer to do something for us on the bill and comped dessert. The food , burgers for burger week and coffee were very good. My wife was not able to finish her burger which by the way was huge. We asked to take it home. We paid and as we drove away realized she did not give us my wife's half burger. read more

The renovated building is wonderful; so is the location with views along the Red River. But, oh, the menu! So unimaginative. But, worse, the execution: The pizzas I and my companion had might easily have been mistaken for McCain's frozen variety. Tasteless, cardboardy things. We might go again, on a summer day, for the view and a drink, but not for the food. If you're an Italian restaurant and you can't get pizza right, you need to consider your approach. read more

Lunch today was not your finest moment. I had the chicken panini and caesar salad. The chicken panini was all bread and the caesar salad very possibly the most pedestrian caesar salad I have ever had - lettuce was brown around the edges and absolutely no flavour at all. I would have made a better salad going home for lunch. The coffee is constantly good, the servers are great and the view(s) amoung Winnipeg's finest. All in all, I left feeling upset and disappointed that I had paid 25.00 for a lunch that i did not enjoy! read more

Decent enough food, although the menu does lack some variety. The service was good and the bartender knows how to make a good drink. Don't park in the parking lot by the hotel, they will call a tow truck. The view is great and I am looking forward to coming back in the summer to enjoy the patio. read more

We've went to cibo a few times. For our first date and special events . When I reserved a table last time and this time they did not give us the correct table. Last time the table we asked for was empty so we were able to ask to be moved to it, but on valentines I booked a reservation well in advance for a certain table and it was taken when we got there on time for our reservation. My question is why would the option for a reservation be there if they are not going to value it. We were sat by the door which had a huge draft when other tables further away from the door were clean and available. The service was OK at most as I am a server as well I was not amazed by our server. The food was good but could have been better there was little to no sauce on my boyfriends steak and was some what dry and my chicken was obviously overcooked not to much so that it was inedible. The chefs should know not to let it sit or cook to long or it'll get dry. After getting some sauce for the steak and salsa to combat the chickens dryness the meals were better. Overall nothing amazing. Very disappointed especially when we come for the memories we have in this resteraunt. read more

Rude!!! This place has offensive customer service! I came in on a quick afternoon break to order 3 coffees for myself and two colleagues and to scout out the atmosphere for a date with my husband later that evening. The manager(!) charged me $20 for those 3 coffees-- they were regular Americano coffees, nothing special. The manager blatantly lied about the cost and refused to show me a menu-- I checked it out later online. It was easier for him to be condescending and rude rather than charge me the actual amount and give me decent customer service. He clearly was having a bad day, with no other customers to be rude to in the place-- guess I was an easy target to make a few extra dollars under the wire. I hope the owners of this place do themselves a favour and hire someone who actually cares about their business-- we sure won't be back to this joke joint. And the coffee? Laughable! read more
