Just started smoking cigars. This was my first time patronizing this location. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection and the lady who educated me on the types of cigars and strength. I enjoyed talking to her. She showed me some cigars I may like and didn't try to sell me expensive or full-body cigars. She shared I could smoke in the lounge area since I purchased a certain amount and gave me a $5 off next purchase chip. I'll be back. read more

I have shopped at this store at least 10 times and I was always helped by Rod, not very friendly towards me. About 2 weeks ago I was helped by a different guy, who told me that if I spent $50, I would receive a $5 off chip towards my next purchase. Today I was at the store and spent over $100 and Rod did not offer a chip until I asked why he was treating me differently than his Caucasian customers. He denied doing that but could not explain the reason for treating differently ten times or more. I asked for his bosses contact information but he only offered his name and the store email that he could access. I was extremely upset for this slight and told him that he should be ashamed of himself. Since I could not reach his manager or an owner I decided to warn minorities of the different treat or discrimination. I would have loved to address this with his boss but Rod refused to give me their number. I recommend staying away if you are a minority. read more

They are displaying a sign on the humidor that says Plume, not Mold. There are dozens of cigars covered in mold. Do they think people are that stupid? Incredible health hazard, and they don't care, they want to sell them. Horrible. read more

I was a long term customer for years. I am finally finished here. The owner is very unfriendly and unappreciative of my business. There are too many other options where the owners are nice and genuinely happy to have me as a customer. I now spend my money and time with those businesses. I used to love this place. Barb was friendly and helpful. Honestly, she cultivated my love of cigars. A few years ago something changed and she got really bitter. I just think she doesn't love what she does anymore. She's rude, and really pushy. This is reflected in her business practices. You've seen the moldy cigar photos. Rather than do something about this she just lies and calls it plume. We know the difference, and she clearly doesn't respect her customers enough not to lie about it. Recently she started charging to use her lounge. No one does this. Go anywhere else. read more

Disappointed and embarrassed to find out I couldn't smoke my cigars in the lounge if not purchased on the day of. No problem, this has been a fairly cool spot to chill at lunch. I'll check back in payday. Looked up the hours on Yelp and swung by a couple days later. Purchased a stick and tried to light up but The Haven had a different close time. I'm fairly inexperienced when it comes to smoking cigars, but I enjoy it none-the-less when I get the chance. This place is not far from where I live, but even if it wasn't I think I would make the trip. The owner is extremely nice and very helpful...far from pretentious as I have found at some places where if you're not a regular, they don't give you the time of day. She'll take time to walk you through the smoke to find exactly what you're looking for. They have a nice set up in back with a smoking room equipped with a large tv etc. I haven't taken advantage of this as I usually like to smoke outside, but if you're into that sort of thing, it's a nice hang out. They take great care in caring for you and their stock. I have been turned on to some of the best cigars I would have never smoked here and now they fill my humidor. I don't smoke, but I really enjoy coming here (except for the smell which irritates my lame asthmatic lungs) to get gifts for my newly minted cigar smoker dad. The owner is incredibly helpful. The first time I came in, I attempted to make a selection by myself. I was clueless. The owner sensed my cluelessness and offered to help me find something, and hooked me up with a nice sampler of cigars that my dad enjoyed trying out. The second time I came in, I just cut to the chase and went to her to ask for some recommendations for an intermediate level smoker. She has a funny sort of dry sense of humor about cigars which I found amusing. She walked me around the store explaining different cigars, and offering up some variety with affordable cigars, never trying to hard sell me on some overly expensive or 'gourmet' stuff. I even asked her if I should get any items from her for the humidor I purchased online since I saw a bunch of seasoning and humidity stuff by the register. She could have easily sold me on any sort of goop or humidity measuring device because I'm gullible, but instead she offered me a piece of paper with some very useful instructions and the advice to see how the humidor works (because apparently they all can need different things) and then return if I found it necessary. The prices always seemed decent enough to me. Any extra cost is worth the personal advice, plus you're supporting local business. Basically, I wish I smoked so I could come here more often because the personal attention and owner's sense of humor (sans BS small talk, the woman gets straight to the point) make it a great place to visit. read more

Not sure what's wrong with Julie S. who left a rather crappie review but, I come here every time I'm in town they have an awesome selection and prices comparable to the online sites so you don't even have to worry about the extras like shipping. I have been in probably 10-15 times the owner after the first few times has my taste down pat, and always recommends something great to my taste when I make it back in. It really is surprising for an aficionado like me because I'm a maduro guy and most places in Indiana don't carry a big selection of maduro's nor the large ring gauge (6/60 or 7/70) I like, but they do. I was recommended this place by my neighbor and went yesterday. Being a newbie I was a little overwhelmed by the selection. I recently just started smoking cigars regularly and I have not done a good job of recording my cigar likes and dislikes. They took what I would consider a significant amount of time educating me and helping me select some cigars. keep having bad experiences at this place. left for a bit and went back to reconnect with my old smoking buddies but it seems Barb doesn't want or appreciate my business. went in recently and was told not to bring in my cup of coffee since she sells coffee from 8am-11am. it happened to be 10:50am and I was basically finishing a half of cup. would understand if this was the mainstay of her business but she basically has a guy running a Keurig machine in the back. not good business practice to piss off your clients for $2 to $3 worth of coffee. I agree with review from Mark P. she seems to be bitter most of the time or maybe just has a hang up about certain groups of people. but one thing for sure, a lot of folks sell cigars.
