I showed up for scheduled appointment as new client and was super excited as new to area and excited for new stylist and salon w Sunday hours as my work schedule is intense. Salon is 30 min drive but ok w that. I showed up and she was running late. I said no problem ! Approx 25 min later she came out and asked about my hair cut (only cut - no color or other services) ) and I told her I had short shag / bob thing going on. She stated she was not comfortable w doing cut . I honestly could not believe what I was hearing in that I am not complicated. Basically I was refused a service / cut I don't know what to say as apparently stylist has hair length prerequisites on her capabilities... never seen that before and nothing in marketing which indicated this. Bottom line - ruined my day as had big meetings that week and was totally let down w refusal to perform service. To date have not recd refund re appt deposit either. read more

This was the first time I came to this salon, and I was very impressed with the services. I came in for a perm, and I'm very happy with the results! The photo is just after the perm, so it will take a couple days to settle, but it's so wavy and fun! The stylist was both extremely kind and very experienced. She made specific recommendations based on my hair-type, length, and desired style. She didn't cut off more than I requested, but made corrections to my hair to keep it looking healthy and strong. It was my first time at Cilantro salon yesterday. I brought my sister as well for a cut from Nick. His service was excellent and we will be back! We noticed a few hairs not even in length so he took the time to double and triple check for an even cut. Lastly, I'm a mom of a small child and I'm nervous with COVID going around again. I went here with high expectations because they had such good reviews, unfortunately I left with a mess of hair. My hair was done by Elizabeth and it looked atrocious but I was there for so long that I could not say anything because they were closed (I got there as soon as they opened and left 2 hours after closing). My hair was horribly damaged. I had the go the next day to a different stylist at a different salon to get my hair fixed it was so bad. AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! I hit the jackpot when I randomly selected Cilantro Hair Spa for my two blow outs for my son's graduation weekend at Notre Dame. Carol, the owner, graciously accommodated my schedule and came in before the salon normally opened, two days in a row. Now on to the amazing blow outs - WOW! She is a pro. First, the fabulous products they use, Kerastase, and then second, her blow dry skills are fantastic. I looked amazing, ha! She got me in and out with a professional blow dry in less than 45 minutes and I was her priority. I truly am so thankful to Carol and so wish she lived in Ft. I have been going to Cilantro for a year now... and I can attest that the person who wrote the nasty 1 star "review" is nothing more than a disgruntled former employee. I have nothing to gain by writing this, other than to tell you that everything in the 1 star "review" is inaccurate. Carol is my stylist and is more about growing her team, than herself. I have a son and never has him being in the salon been a problem (but, I don't bring him much because a salon is no place for a child). Every salon has a markup, otherwise, they'd make no money and any client of the salon is a client of the entire salon. With all that non-sense aside, let me tell you about this hidden gem of a hair spa... my hair has NEVER looked so great. I came to carol with damaged blonde hair and today I have the healthiest blonde hair that gets tons of compliments. Carol is flexible with her hours, accommodating to my needs and budget, skilled in her craft and a true asset to the hair business. My former stylist moved to a further location, so I was left looking for a salon with similar prices for the same quality. Like the majority of hair salons, prices differ depending on the experience of the stylist. However, since Carol works hard to bring in quality talent, even the junior-level stylists do a great job working with you and giving you an amazing cut and style. They all have their own niche, so depending on what you want, Cilantro has it. I've been seeing Clint as my stylist since my first appointment a year ago. He's very attentive and won't rush through your appointment. He takes great pride in his work and it definitely shows. I'm always nervous when I see a stylist for the first time, but I didn't need to be. Throughout the year, my hair style has changed from long, layered, and colored to short and texturized. Clint has done an outstanding job with each style and I've always been satisfied. Among the many services Cilantro offers, they give complimentary bang trims and a water or coffee. If you do have a problem with something, they work with you to solve it. It's a very inviting atmosphere and many of the stylists' hours are flexible. Courtney did the best color I have ever had in my life! I have been blonde for 15+ years. I am naturally a brunette. However, my hair pulls red. Therefore, if not done correctly it is very brassy. Many stylists that have done my hair in the past either made it so blonde that it breaks off or too brassy. Courtney did neither of those. She is absolutely amazing! And she explained everything so thoroughly. She added bonding agent to the color(I had never heard of that) which prevents breakage. She also did a deep conditioning treatment. A blow-out for $17! An amazing deal! The pricing on Yelp needs to be changed to reflect the actual pricing in the salon. I met with Caiti who was exceptionally sweet and efficient. My wash and style was completed in 30 minutes and looked great. This isn't necessarily a high-end salon experience with a scalp massage or essential oils, but the finished style is excellent and definitely comparable to higher-end salons. I've tried the $25 blow-out bar at both Salon Rogues (avoid- I left looking like goldilocks two out of three times) , as well as blow-outs at Salon Nouveau & Nicholas J. The finished result is comparable to Nicholas J & Salon Nouveau but for a fraction of the price. read more

I treated my mom to a cut and color for her birthday. She was scheduled to be with grace but she doesn't remember if that was who cut her hair. Anyway she was very dissatisfied with her hair cut. She wanted to go very short she was tired of long hair getting in the way. And she refused to cut it short she said it would age her and that she should have it close to short to get used to it. She told her she should get it cut like her own hair "see like mine" and she questioned why she wanted short hair. My mom wanted short hair she should have gave it to her. She came out very disappointed because it's not short so it gets in her face but it's too short that she can pull it back in a ponytail. She also said now she looks like Dora the explorer. My daughter and I were visiting from out of town. She needed a trim & blow-out and I wanted an updo. Cilantro Hair Spa exceeded our expectations. My daughter's hair looked straight out of a Pantene conditioner commercial - full of body, bouncy and gorgeous- and it stayed that way through pre-wedding, wedding and after wedding festivities (12 hours!). My updo incorporated a braid into a french twist and looked as good the 12th hour as the first - which is amazing since I have very fine hair that never holds its shape. This was my first visit to Cilantro Hair Spa and it was amazing. The location is incorrect as it is on Hickory Rd now and its really nice inside. I have very long and thick hair so most stylists are almost afraid to work with it but Bethany had no problems. She worked methodically and even took extra time to make sure my hair looked great for my event later that evening. Even though her next customer was already there by the end of my appt she didn't rush at all at the end and was still very conscientious even towards the end. Most people end up charging me extra because my hair is long however she didn't upcharge at all. I would recommend this location and Bethany completely. Found Cilantro by chance that they are right next to the spa I go to for massages. Researched the salon a little before going in for a color consultation with Kerstin. She was very friendly and professional. When I went back for my appointment I showed her a pic of the colors I wanted and she did an even better job than I imagined. I have never received so many compliments on my hair. I observed the rest of the staff working on their clients and from what I saw, I would trust any one of them to work on my hair. I was referred to Cilantro by a friend of mine and went in for a consultation. The consultation went well and I was scheduled a week later. I asked for a lot of the stylist, but I would continuously ask about the price and she danced around it. She never once gave me even the slightest idea of what my charge would be. I saved over $200 and hoped it'd be okay. I spent 6 hours in the salon chair and saw stylists on phones, laptops, and talking more to each other than any clients. I even heard a stylist say she does a $15 deep condition on clients without asking them or warning them about it. I was Not happy with my hair at all. I asked for an ashy balayage and light brown base. I was given very dark roots with orange and brass colored hair all the way down. When I went to pay the stylist did not look at me or smile. She told me it was $296 WITH A $20 OFF! My stomach dropped. No wonder the stylist never told me any idea of what it was. I told her I wasn't prepared for that price and all she said was that I could do many forms of payment. A week later I told her I couldn't afford anything and hated my hair. She had me down for color correction with balayage, yet she told me she ONLY had me down for a balayage so she old tone it and that's it. I find it funny that I was down for 3 services price wise, but when I want something fixed it changes to 1. I will NEVER go back. read more
