My sister recommended this place. When you go the first time make sure to get a referral. If you give them the name of whoever referred you, you get $20 off and they get $25 in Aveda product. Nice location. A bit chilly in the lobby. Jennifer performed my wax. She did a great job, was very thorough and very fast. She made sure to get all the hair, which was great. There's nothing worse than spending $50+ on a wax, and coming home to find patches. I did think it was a bit pricy. I picked it for my sister's sake, but next time I'll look for somewhere else rather than pay full price to come back. read more

I had a great experience today at this salon. They were able to accommodate me within two hours of me calling for a hair appt and a mani and pedi. It was a pleasant atmosphere, friendly faces & prompt service. The hair cut was great. Complements to Gatlin. Great talent and customer service. Mani and pedi was done by Cherry. She took her time, and is a delight. Although I scheduled an express Manny and pedi, we went over time. Instead of rushing me out she still did a fabulous job. I went in with hair down to the middle of my back looking to freshen up my look with a lob. The stylist was nice but my cut was AWFUL. Truly bad. $45 and I left without my hair even dry. It wasn't until I got back to work and started looking at it that I saw how really bad the cut was- half my hair was a completely different length. I emailed both the manager and the president and no one would respond to me. I even followed up with pictures that were taken by the stylist at another salon I made an appointment with to fix my hair (she was shocked). I can't tell you how sad all this has been- and then not to have the professionalism to respond was the real cherry on top. read more

I wanted to call out Nichole for going over the top with her customer service. I went to Salon Nouveau on Saturday to get my hair colored. Betsy did an amazing job on my hair, I love it. I used the restroom before getting in my car to drive back to MI and left my iPad in the restroom. I called the salon Monday morning and spoke to Nichole, she assured me my iPad was there. I let her know I lived in MI and couldn't just stop by to pick it up. She sent it to me via Fed Ex next day. It was delivered today. Nichole provided exceptional customer service and went over and beyond to make sure I got my iPad back. She is definitely an asset to your company. read more

As Mother of the Groom, I made a hair and make up appointment at the downtown Main Street location 3 months in advance for my son's wedding. The salon confirmed the appointment the day before. However, I receive a call at 8 AM the day of the wedding saying Meghan, the stylist/make up artist, is not coming in and my appt was cancelled!! Since I live out-of-state, they did not try to help get me another appt somewhere else or offer to squeeze me in at another location. When I asked for the manager, Andrea, to give me a call back, well, it's been 4 hours and 2 calls later and I still have not heard from her. In addition, I went to the downtown location. The Saturday hours posted on the door are from 8 - 5 PM. However, at noon, the salon was locked and completely dark. My suggestion, DO NOT USE THIS SALON!! They employ the most unprofessional and unhelpful people. read more

I came back and had my hair done here for my own wedding. Their contract states a trial run is required, but that would have made my hair more expensive than my dress. I told them that and that the reason I wanted them was because I already knew they would make my hair beautiful. They did not disappoint! My bridesmaids, my mom, and I all looked wonderful! I have been going to Salon Nouveau for years, and can't say enough WONDERFUL things about this salon. It is hands down the best salon and spa in the area. They have two locations, one in South Bend and one in Granger. My stylist, Marika, is at the South Bend location and is an AMAZING colorist and stylist. She and the South Bend team did my wedding hair & make up and I was blown away by the customer service and talent of all the girls we worked with, which was a TON because we had so many people getting their hair and make up done for the day. They had a breakfast set up for us and we just had the most fun getting ready. They made our day so effortless and everyone looked so beautiful. If you want to look your best I suggest calling Salon Nouveau ASAP and setting up an appointment! If you are looking for hair Marika is amazing! I went in for a long overdue cut and color. I wanted to get a base color as well as get the ends of my hair toned (I had balayage highlights with a lot of contrast). I believe my stylist was Leslie, a master stylist. I think she did a great job on the haircut itself. Some people cut my bangs very thin, and she kept them thick and at the right length. The color I felt could be a bit bolder, but it was my first time there and perhaps she was being conservative not knowing my preferences, and because I had an event coming up that probably called for a more conservative color anyway. From what I saw in the salon (other clients and the hairstyles of the stylists) this salon is great for more traditional styles but not so much for the avant-garde - but that's probably OK depending on what you are looking for. I guess I can say I liked (but did not love) my new cut and color. read more

Sheila did my practice up-do and wedding up-do and I found the salon and Sheila to be excellent. My bridal party all had up-dos at Salon Nouveau and everyone enjoyed their up-do, which is a rarity for some of my girls. My mother-in-law also had an appointment for a wash and blow-out and she loved the salon. As Christina M. mentions, the price is great. Five bridal up-dos plus a 20 percent tip to each stylist and I paid less than $300. Bridal parties also have access to free coffee, bagels and juice. Aveda products smell great and if I hadn't just found a stylist, I would definitely go back for all my hair needs. read more

Good job on hair color. I had dark almost black hair and they were able to tone it to a red tone. My stylist was a bit too rough on my hair, tugging and pulling. I thought maybe her hands were made of glue. Other than that they did a good job with the color. read more

Walked in at 10am without an appointment to see if they had anyone with experience available to fix the nightmare haircut I'd gotten the day before elsewhere. The lady that greeted me at the front desk was very helpful (and sympathetic) and offered me an appointment at 11:15am that same morning! I went back at 11:15 and was waited on immediately by Leslie. She was fantastic. I cannot thank her enough for fixing the mess I was in with my hair. She was professional, funny, kind and...best of all...KNEW what she was doing. I would recommend salon nouveau for nails - had the best manicure and pedicure there! However I would not recommend to use salon nouveau for hair style especially if you have an important event. I had an updo and the stylist did such a poor job that the updo fell apart before I left the salon. I had to ask other stylist to fix it and at home I had to use 20 additional pins and lots of hairspray to fix it. read more

After a miserable haircut at the Heritage Square location, I scheduled an appointment with Cheryl at the Ironwood location. I couldn't be happier. She immediately identified what had gone (terribly) wrong with the previous cut, asked lots of questions, looked at photographs of previous excellent cuts I've enjoyed, and recreated that look flawlessly. My hair is heavy, thick, chin length, mostly straight and plagued with lots of cowlicks. She took her time, collapsed all the weight from the bottom of my bob, thinned out my fringe, and shaped the back beautifully. She was fun, professional, attentive, and thorough. At the end of my cut and style she re-powdered my nose and touched up my blush. I scheduled a color and my next cut before I left. I recently relocated to South Bend from a much larger city. I would gladly have paid twice what I paid Cheryl. read more

I love Sheila at the ironwood location. I go to her for cuts and color, and she does an outstanding job with both. I've tried other salons in town (salon rouge and the other aveda location), but Sheila is hands down the best. She isn't fake like a lot of other hair stylists I've had, and she knows exactly how to make my thick curly hair look good. I always leave feeling that my cut and color are even better than I had hoped. Love love love!! The "spa" services at this location leave something to be desired; the nail techs aren't very punctual and the spa area is really just the back corner of the salon where they've crammed a few nail stations. For years I was going to Bangs Salon and I still love it there, but I needed to find a place a bit less pricey. This salon was it. I get excellent service and the salon is always clean and relaxing! I'm always asked if I'd like a drink every time I come in and I'm always greeted with a smile! I see Sheila, who is a master stylist so her prices are a bit higher, but my first experience was with Alexis, who's prices aren't as high as Sheila's but her talent is just as good! I came in with my hair being an absolute nightmare. I had bleached it like crazy last year and it was so damaged. Alexis trimmed my hair for me and fixed my eyebrows that another salon had ruined. I started seeing Sheila and she gave me a whole new hairstyle and gave me a color melt (dark red, red, to blonde hair) that was so gorgeous! I did need to come for a touch up a week later and she informed me that it was because my hair is so damaged so my hair isn't holding the shade of red she put in and that the blonde may be damaging my hair more. So she gently coaxed me out of my comfort zone and got me to try a melt with a darker red that fades to a lighter red but with a violet tint. I haven't had to get my color touched up in a month now. I am beyond happy with this salon and am so glad that they treat me like family! I'll be coming here for a long time! read more

I have been using Aveda salons for a long time so I am familiar with the quality of service you usually get at their salons, however I just went to try salon Nouveau in Granger for the first time since I moved to this area and I was very surprised at the horrible customer service. I showed up 10 minutes early for my hair appointment and when I went to check in the girl could not find me in their system. I just made the appointment a week ago. Then the girl at the desk proceeded to tell me she "found me" under a 7:45pm reservation and that she can't do anything for me. I asked her how that could have happened and asked why I wasn't informed of the time change and she just said they had a non working number for me. That was a lie, my cell works and I saw that they called me yesterday to confirm my appointment. I just didn't pick up since I figured they would leave a voice mail. They however did not leave a message. I am going back at 7:45 for my haircut since I need one for mothers day weekend but so far the apathy displayed by the girls at the front desk has left me wondering if this Aveda salon is up to par with all the other ones i have been to in the past. I know sometimes things happen and mistakes are made but a simple apology and a friendly smile goes a long way. read more

Sheila, Sheila, Sheila~you win! This, I think looks to be the fifth review and all of us had Sheila. She did an outstanding job for me. I have been going to another hairdresser for over 5-6 years, but was never able to attain the cut that I wanted. Someone recommended Sheila and I was totally impressed with her professionalism, her creativity, style, class and grace. Hands down! I loved the feel of the shop~lively, happy, and filled with Aveda products of which I bought three! There are many other stylists, but I have not had the pleasure to use their services. I have been getting my hair cut and styled by Sheila for two years. I have thick, shoulder length hair that requires a lot of time for blow drying and flat ironing. Sheila is excellent. If you schedule a hair cut with her, you will be in capable hands. She listens to my hair requests and is quite thorough. She always double checks to make sure my hair cut is even on both sides before letting me leave, which is something I appreciate. Sheila also did my up-do for my wedding last year. I will never, ever be visiting Salon Nouveau. I'm new to the area and have been keen to find a salon to call my own after the move. After scouring the internet last week for the best local salons, I stumbled upon your location and was satisfied with the generally high reviews. Excited at the prospect of finding such a well-loved local business to support, I opted to pay a visit and called in to book my first appointment. Unfortunately, what followed was the rudest interaction I have ever had on the phone. A receptionist (I believe her name was Sabrina) picked up the phone and right off the bat sounded annoyed by my call. Passing it off as a bad day, I ignored her blatant attitude and asked about scheduling an appointment for a cut and color. After sighing deeply (at this point I was already ready to hang up) she proceeded to explain that there were different levels of stylists and that I needed to pick a level so she could find a suitable match. I asked her to elaborate on the tiers, but not before she cut me off with a rude "hold on" after which I can only assume she placed her hand over the phone. I overheard her saying that I "was a difficult one" (did she forget to place me on hold?), waited a few more seconds, and picked the phone back up only to remark snidely "what did you need again?" At this point, I was extremely unhappy with how ridiculously unprofessional this employee was and, honestly, how poorly she treated me as a human being. Frustrated, I quipped that I had just told her not even a minute ago. Her response? "Thanks for calling Salon Nouveau, have a great day" and HUNG UP ON ME. It's truly unfortunate that such a well-received salon has someone like that manning the storefront. I'm sure the stylists are all very talented, but this one employee has ensured that I will never spend my money at either of your locations. read more

I had 15 inches cut off of my hair there. I was not happy. I tried to show the stylist some pictures on my laptop, but she didn't seem to be very interested in discussing the styles, but rather said she knew what i wanted after looking at only two pictures. She took off way more than I wanted, and gave me the poofy big hair that i said i didn't want. I had to go back a week later and ask her to thin my hair, because i was miserable. I have curly hair and she razored the ends, which i have been told by several people shouldn't be done with curly hair. It was also more expensive than i expected because they gave me a "master stylist" that i didn't request, so it was 45 instead of 30 for the cut. read more

Being a man, I was a little hesitant to go to a "woman's salon" for a hair cut. However, my barber shop was closed when I wanted to get a haircut recently and I was left with little choice. My fiance (Karen) suggested Salon Nouveau and her hair person (Shiela) to me. Shiela got me an appointment with her the same day and did a really nice job. She made me feel comfortable and gave me a sample product. It only took about 30 minutes and cost me $20--not including the tip. Terrible Service! Bridal party used them for the day of the wedding and they could not manage. Bride left the salon crying and we had to leave a bridesmaid because they couldn't get her hair done. The bride curls were falling before even leaving the salon. The worst part was they were unapologetic and walked away to new customers even tho the bride and bridal party were not ready. Poor service. Unfortunately I can't speak to the hair care as I was never able to get an appointment. I tried to get a cut and color a few days before a major vacation. I was rescheduled once via an email from the salon, which was still cutting my time close but doable (and also a very impersonal way of rescheduling). Then the morning of my appointment, about an hour before to be exact, I got a call from the salon saying the stylist I was scheduled to meet with didn't show up to work so I needed to be rescheduled (again). When I called back to figure out how to get a similar time that morning, I was told I could see somebody else that a) was at a time that evening which did not work for me; and b) was significantly more expensive because I'd be using a different stylist. I explained that I now had a very limited timeline, and the only other alternative they offered me was to choose either having my hair cut or colored (also at an inconvenient time), but not both. So overall, very unhelpful service by whoever answers the phone there and poor advance planning by the salon to not be able to cover for their employees when they decide not to come to work. read more
