I lived in south bend a few years back and always came here. This salon has always given me a great haircut. I have very thick hair and it's a bit challenging to cut, but I've always been satisfied with the cuts I've gotten at salon rouge. This is the second time I've had to have them fix my hair due to a botched job elsewhere. I got my hair cut out in California before moving back to SB. Due to the fact that I just had a baby and stay at home with her and a less than attention-to-detailed husband, I didn't realize how terrible of a haircut I had! I returned to salon rouge to fix said awful haircut and Jessica did an amazing job. She was very honest with the state of my hair and did everything she could to rescue my locks-- which she did. I was lucky enough many years ago to, as a walk in, needed desperate hair help, and I was lucky enough to get Kristin King, owner of Salon Rouge, and have been with her ever since, with no plans of leaving her or her salon, from short cuts, to blond, then dark, then highlights, to now growing it out and she has been spot on every step of the way. I have never left there unhappy with her work, her suggestions, the ambiance, and maybe even enjoying a glass of wine while being pampered, the atmosphere is light and fun and it's like being with a loving family. I started coming here about 4 years ago when I couldn't get stubborn purple dye out of my hair. Danielle helped eliminate the color to bring my hair to a beautiful bright blonde over two sessions to keep my hair healthy. since then I have trusted Salon Rouge to keep my hair looking the best, even after moving an hour away I don't go anywhere else. from blonde, to red, and even bringing my hair back to life when I accidentally singed half of my hair with a flat iron, they have set me up to leave feeling like a million bucks. First time gong to a salon in SB area. Coming from NY metro area, I was a bit doubtful in finding a good hairsalon but I was proven wrong! Salon is open and airy and staff helpful. I went on a Saturday so there weren't many people (only 3 were working at the time) and I was seated right at my 3pm appointment. Corinne was my stylist, and she took time to listen to my particular request to keep the back clean and light and so on. She took time with shampoo and rinse, it was more like a massage shampoo which was very stress-relieving and relaxing. She cut very efficiently, asking me if it's the right length for sideburns and back. Very helpful and professional. I believe I am gonna make the switch from sportsclips where I've been going for about a year, because Salon Rouge was better at styling my hair to my young(er) age. I'll be back again! read more

The only place that I trust to do my hair. Corrine G. is my hairstylist and she is the best! I am a law student at Notre Dame and so many of my classmates commented on my hair that now practically all of my friends go to her. My fiancé finally trusted me enough to ditch the typical men's hair place and he has his hair cut by Corrine, too. The staff is very welcoming. The store is always clean. They are also very accommodating-- offering water, coffee, wine, ect. when you arrive. Their prices are reasonable for how incredible this salon is. I have gotten color, cuts, blow outs, and I am having my hair done for my wedding here. Cannot say enough positive things about this place! UPDATE: My hair turned out exactly how I wanted on my wedding day, thanks to Corrine. My Maid of Honor and other family members also had their hair done that morning and everyone looked stunning! Went for a face wax for my wedding photoshoot and told the person at salon that I need it for two days later. Ended up with face burns as in the picture (3 days after). Went to talk with the manager the day after photoshoot and asked for my money back. She said we can give you 12$ (out of fifty) because other parts of your face are ok (Guess I would have got my money back if they peeled my face!). Also she said if you write us negative reviews we will write a disclaimer! Good luck with that and hope you kiss goodbye to your attitude. read more

Since I never got around to giving my feedback through the survey they sent and the follow up phone call they gave me (very thorough!!) I thought I'd leave my review here. Seems the most fitting to review on Yelp since this is where I went when searching out for a new stylist. I had the pleasure of meeting Corrine- who listened patiently and took her time to hear what it was I was looking for. She may have been the sweetest person I have ever met! I recently went to Salon Rouge for my first Deva Curl cut and I was really nervous about getting it done because I'm new to embracing my naturally curly/wavy hair. Needless to say, I am thrilled with the results. Becky was my certified Deva Cut hair stylist, and my hair has NEVER looked better. She was highly knowledgeable and shared tips throughout the experience. Even on the phone when I booked the appointment, the lady I spoke to was very informative and thorough. Online I read that Deva Curl cuts are extremely expensive, but Salon Rouge kept the cut at a fair price. It is more expensive than a regular cut, but that is to be expected because it is not your average hair cut. I will absolutely be going back to this salon in the future! They use Deva Curl products at their salon, so you don't have to worry about harsh products being used on your hair. Becky was very personable and friendly. I can happily say my experience here was one of the best salon experiences I've ever had! read more

I've been going to this Salon Rouge (2) for several years. What has kept me coming back is the friendly service, great haircuts, and reasonable price. Appointment-making is easy; they even send text message reminders for us busy and forgetful people. The girls at the counter are always fresh-faced and polite. I usually work with Tara; she puts up with my ever-changing requests and my haircuts come out looking even better than I thought they would. She's very friendly, talkative (nothing worse than a silent haircut!), and knowledgeable. I can't say I've ever left disappointed in all the years I've been going. All-in-all, this is as good as it gets outside a major metropolitan area. It's classy without being off-putting, priced well, and always the highlight of my day. It's so hard to find a stylist you can trust (at least for me). Having not been in the area for a very LONG time, I took a chance and went to another salon. That did NOT work out, they ruined my hair, and made a half-attempt to fix it. Time creeps up on you quick and you're do for some fresh highlights! I was stressing out as I had no idea where to go, and will never ever step foot back into first, said salon. I called Salon Rouge, and they worked to fit me into their schedule (as in, went out of their way because this week was the only week I had available). They did not have to do that, but they did. After my old stylist retired I had to find a new stylist so I booked an appointment at Salon Rouge on a whim and never looked back. Kelly does an excellent job with my cut and color and has also taught me how to properly curl my hair so it doesn't take me the hour it used to. Salon Rouge creates a warm, welcoming vibe as soon as you enter the door. They offer a multitude of services. I'm impressed with the age-range of customers; from teens and kids to older women - and the stylists' skills address the diverse needs of these different age groups. They offer tea or coffee as soon as you arrive. It's also nice to see men as well as women in the Salon. The music is great - not that overly-loud, pumping music I was used to in New York City. While the vibe is not about rushing you, they are professional and get the job done is an fast as possible. I have been going there for 8 years. It's a great place. And there is *never* any high drama among staff. (Again, this is something one comes to expect in Manhattan - it's as if you're not getting the full deal unless there's some gossip, anger, or blow-up happening among diva stylists; not calming!) Salon Rouge, in contrast, is like a refuge, a calm, relaxed, quiet place. i saved my most important comments til the end: *TARA* is an amazing colorist & stylist. She's sharp and extremely skilled; she's like a scientist or alchemist, the way she mixes color! She listens carefully and helps me get exactly the look I want. When I'm not sure, she calmly offers suggestions - which have turned out great every time. She possesses an ease which can be deceptive - because she's always thinking, always envisioning the look she wants to create. IT HAS BEEN A JOY TO WORK WITH HER! (P.S. Honestly, one of the best places I've ever gone for my hair cut (male). Kelly has done a great job (I have medium length hair). I'm sure the other stylists are good too. They washed/rinsed my hair before and after. I got coffee (decent actually) while I waited. All at a very modest price. I'll be coming back for the foreseeable future. read more

I had an excellent experience getting my eyebrows waxed by Braye today! It was my first time ever in the salon and I was nervous about having someone new do my brows. Walking in to the salon I was quickly greeted by kind employees, the store was clean and well organized, and my walk-in appointment was met in less than 5 minutes of waiting.
