These shakes really are delicious and since you need to stop and stretch your legs, this is the perfect spot! You can oder your shakes with or without whip cream- either way, you won't be disappointed. Don't like dates, not to worry, there is plenty of other snacks that you can choose from sandwiches to nuts and wide selection of beef jerky! The beef jerky is pretty good and surprisingly soft. With so much to choose from, you can find yourself buyijg more than you need but it does make the car trip go by faster. One thing... for males, the restroom is something else. Don't let the Hills Have Eyes and Texas Chainsaw location and exit scare you. Exit off the Cima Road off-ramp from the 15 freeway - about 1 hour/67 miles out from Vegas to find this surprise stop. Building and interior are both clean and nice looking. People that work there are friendly and nice. Open 24 hours. Lots of items to look at and buy in store - from souvenirs to food/drinks. There's also a restaurant inside called the Birdhouse. The date shake is the item advertised on the highway signs, and I have to say it's really good. Little pieces of date in the shake and the right amount of sweetness - IMO. Taste is subjective. I didn't get whip cream with the shake and that kept it from being overly sweet. The other surprise item was the crispy chicken sandwich. You can get spicy or non-spicy. We got spicy and it was very good and the right amount of spice. Not so hot that you couldn't enjoy it. Good size piece of chicken and fried just right - crispy and not greasy. And the bun was super soft! They have a shake and chicken sandwich deal for about $14, that was the way to go. I have to stop here, both ways, every time I leave Vegas! Have you seen those ceilings.. omg they are GORGEOUS!!!!!! Got sucked in by the DATE SHAKE sign, admittedly I thought that they were advertising taking your significant(?) other to the establishment for a shake. After clarifying via Wikipedia, I remembered that I often get smoothies that are sweetened with dates so I was intrigued. That other smoothie establishment uses dates as sugar, not in addition to sugary ice cream, so yeah, these date shakes are way too sweet, but still really good. This may be the most Californian thing I've ever written in my life: I wonder what a date-and-frozen-unsweetened-Greek-yogurt version of this shake would taste like. I also got a pre-made turkey wrap here and was surprised by its freshness and quality although the honey mustard dressing that came with it didn't suit the wrap at all - plain yellow or deli brown mustard would've been a big improvement. Service there was friendly and surprisingly quick - they get those shakes out in a hustle. Always saw the signs about the date shake on the way to Vegas. Finally decided to check it out and I'm so glad we did! It's not a big place, but there are a lot of snacks and Knick knacks to check out. We wanted to try out the fried chicken sandwich and the date shake - the way to do this is to order from the restaurant counter inside. They have a deal for $13.99, which is worth it instead of buying both separately. The guy at the restaurant counter and the guy at the main checkout were both friendly and helpful. The sandwich was really good! Crispy chicken, good sauce, pickles, and a soft bun. The date shake was on the sweeter side, but not unpleasantly so. Roughy 1hr from from Las Vegas. This is the usually my last stop on my way into Nevada anytime I come back from visiting California. The shop itself is well stocked, adjacent to the I-15 and most importantly clean. I've been here when I'm the only person perusing their store to having to wait in line to use the men's room. Being a close drive to Las Vegas it's a good place to drive to when you want to buy scratchers or lotto tickets - especially since The Lotto Store at The State Line is sure to be way busier. Aside from your typical gas station fare (sodas, chips, candy) they also sell chocolates, local honey, geodes and other goodies. But let's be honest: the only reason I stop here is for a few scratchers, a hotdog and their famous date shakes! Don't miss out. Weirdly the best chicken sandwich of my life. Who knew?! We randomly stopped here to use the bathroom traveling home from Las Vegas and everyone's food looked so good we decided to stop for lunch and I am so glad we did. It came out reasonably quickly and this meal was SO GOOD! The sandwich was huge - we got the honey butter breading on the chicken and it was dynamite! Great local jersey from alien jersey as well as date shakes, pop corn, soda pop, old school candy, and stuff. The guys at the counter are excellent in their customer service -- they're super nice and friendly. In fact, on my way home, I stopped in again to get some energy drinks. I was telling one of the gentlemen at the counter that I hadn't anticipated how much dairy was in the shake and I am a little lactose intolerant so I had kind of a rough time that night. My daughter has always loved collecting different stones from all over the world, so we grabbed a bag to take home. They have one of those souvenir-penny roller machines here too. On our way out to California we decided to stop at Cima Mining Company after seeing a billboard for beef jerky. We are beef jerky enthusiast, and usually stop at Alien Jerky in Baker. We wanted to give this place a try and are not disappointed. First pulling up into the parking lot, the building is cute and quaint with flowers by the front door. Inside you'll find a menagerie of drinks, beef, jerky, candy, hot sauces and food options. I immediately made my way back to the ordering counter to get their famous Date Shake. I'm so glad I did. The cashier was polite and quick. I'm a sweets type of person so to me the level of sweetness is perfect. It tastes like a vanilla soft serve based shake with blended dates. It's very reminiscent of a Filipino dessert. The dates have a texture kind of like coconut. I personally would recommend the shake. I drank most of it by Next up beef jerky! We bought nine different flavors in a variety of different types of meat. So far we've opened two bags and I found that the flavor is well developed and the texture of jerky is enjoyable. Overall experience is good. I'll keep updating as we try the rest , below are our opinions on the 3 that we've tried so far. *Ring of Fire: flavor is good, heat is more on the tongue not at the back of your throat, texture is right in between soft and chewy. 7 out of 10 *Hickory: flavor is mild but tasty, more on the tougher side, a little more salty than I like. 6 out of 10 *Cowboy: flavor is soy sauce black pepper forward, favorite texture to far not too chewy and not too soft. Pretty salty and kinda like a weird after taste but still good enough to finish the pack We definitely recommend and will stop here again. read more

The guys working there were so friendly, and I really felt welcomed, which is huge for a woman traveling alone. The date shake comes with or without whip cream. Gas station in the middle of nowhere. (Former Stuckey's.) My husband wanted to stop for nostalgia's sake. Not quite as exciting as some made it out to be (although I did not see the famous men's restroom). Packaged snacks (some healthy, some not). Expanded snack bar under construction. We opted for the date shake which did not disappoint (I think they use date crystals rather than whole dates which gave it a slightly sugary taste, but I'm not complaining). We asked them to split it and paid 75 cents for an extra cup, but ended up with what seemed like to complete shakes. Those working there were not overly friendly or helpful (as mentioned by some reviewers), but I wasn't expecting five star service at a gas station. I think this may have to become a regular stop when driving along I15. (;)) read more
