We had an excellent stay at the Camel's Garden Hotel…read more While it is an older hotel, you can't beat the location. It is located right next to the gondola. It does appear they may have renovated the downstairs common area. There is plenty of lounge seating, a fireplace and light oks like you can host a small gathering. We walked in and the front desk clerk who worked Wednesday was very friendly and even walked the luggage cart down to the garage for us. There is an underground garage that has shared space with the hotel condos. But it is $20 a day to park. I'm not sure if there is an alternative space outside to park overnight. The king room was very spacious and has a fireplace. Our friends stayed in the queen size room which was much smaller and no fireplace. There is plenty of seating in the room and has a large bathroom, wardrobe closet, 2 dressers and dining table. There is a large tv but unfortunately the WiFi is a bit sketchy so we could watch much tv. We even had a small balcony. The bed was very comfortable. Pillows not so much. Plenty of linens. There is a ski valet which is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm which is so nice to have available. We came down the hill late one afternoon and left our equipment outside the valet room. They were safe and sound inside the valet the next day. We had the nicest ski valets taking care of us, Jake and Miller. The hotel provides a free continental breakfast from 7:30am to 9:30am. Bagels & salmon, toast, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee. The breakfast staff were very friendly. There is a nice pool and jacuzzi with views. A bar/restaurant is attached to the hotel which is convenient. Clearly a locals favorite. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Telluride.

The common areas seem to have been renovated, especially the lounge on the main level. Nice furniture and ambiance with the fireplace and various seating options. For the price this is one of the best deals in town. While it's by no means a modern hotel or resort, and is in fact a bit more on the basic side and a little outdated, you can't beat the location right next to the main Telluride lift and being right in downtown Telluride. I prefer staying here over Mountain Village as things shut down much earlier out that way. If I could have only a couple small suggestions it would be to see how they can get the rooms to not warm up so quickly (it was 10 degrees outside and I had the heat set to 64 and it kept going up to around 70 so I had to open a window). Then it was hard keeping a consistent temperature and I had to get up a couple of times during the night. The television steaming is very inconsistent and buffers or turns off for a few seconds, every few minutes. They also need refrigerators in the room. The beds are very comfortable but the pillows are mediocre. The giant tub is awesome as is the overall size of the room. The hot tub area just wasn't too appealing as the jets weren't strong enough and to get any jets you had to sit out of the tub with only half of your body submerged. It was awkward. Big hot tub but poor design. Needs to be a bit hotter and needs actual jets for both the low back and calves. I would recommend Camel's Garden Hotel to the middle to upper middle income skier who appreciates a great location and an ok experience. If you are fancy or rich then look at one of the boutique properties elsewhere.

I love this property but it's overpriced for what you get and the rooms are definitely dated. They need to update the step in tubs and get rid of all of them and do walk-in showers. The room was so expensive and soooo tiny. The bed sagged and was not comfortable for two people. The worst part is the mandatory valet parking. You have no choice but to leave your car. That wouldn't normally be a problem, but since this property is built on the side of a mountain, all of the rooms are down the hill from check-in. They require you to use the Bellman, which I was grateful for, but it was a hassle when you just needed to grab one more thing out of your car, it took 20 minutes for them to bring your car back around. This was also a burden for my senior citizen mother who is having a really hard time walking up the hill, not only because of the steepness, but because of the high elevation. They really need to have golf carts to shuttle people up and down through the corridor of the property. It took forever to get our car anytime we needed it. I understand that parking is limited, but they should make special concessions when someone has a handicap, they should allow you to have your car parked at your building. For the positives, we enjoyed breakfast and a plated dinner for a wedding reception. The food was absolutely fantastic at both meals! For the wedding dinner, we had mashed potatoes and chicken, and the mashed potatoes tasted just like grandmas, perfectly seasoned, and so incredibly smooth. Hats off to the chef at the lodge! They also provide a complementary shuttle to the gondola which was much appreciated. I would stay here again, but I would definitely consider other properties until they renovate and update and get new beds!

I had a nightmare of a time getting help to get my bag from my room to reception for shuttle pick-up. no one was available due to snow (!) so I had to haul my big bag down steps and pull up the hill in the snow. A Huge Disappointment…read more When you are paying a lot of money to stay in a legendary hotel in a ski resort paradise like Telluride, there are certain things you expect. First and foremost is the service and certain amenities like a full service restaurant. Well... no restaurant and paltry breakfast options. Thank heavens for the nearby Black Iron Kitchen And Bar where the food is delicious and the service spectacular (eg Claudia, Curtis, Daniel... everyone there). The service at the Peaks is spotty: excellent concierge, Tenae, Jamie at the front desk, Jared at the bar, snd the entire ski valet service. But first and probably foremost, is the general manager who was nowhere to be found and remiss in his duties. For two consecutive days I tried to reach him to no avail. I wanted to discuss with him the situation for next year because I was considering bringing 6 or more family members back to the resort for a week. Fortunately his bad luck was my good luck. I went over to the Madeline where the service, accommodations, food, location, and amenities are spectacular and made plans with Sam to tentatively book room 433 next spring. I have never written a negative review about a resort hotel - only about ones I truly love. I am making an exception here because the Peaks deserves one.

I would be surprised to learn that somebody booked a room or spa service at the Peaks based on seeing my glowing five star review, but crazier things have happened! If you are reading this and considering a visit to the Peaks for any reason, book it. Go. What are you waiting for??? The spa is gorgeous. The staff is lovely and accommodating. I've even hosted private events in the Altezza space at The Peaks. They were incredibly helpful when our initial plans for a group dinner turned into a "Big Game" cocktail and appetizer hour followed by dinner. They were able to bring a big tv for everyone to watch and enjoy. No complaints!!!

Telluride Cubs Camp…read more I find it extremely interesting that there is nowhere on the internet to leave a review of Telluride Cubs camp specifically. We paid for two days of care at $310/day. One day of childcare in telluride is 2 weeks of child care where we live. When I dropped off the first day, they didn't want to know anything about my child and his needs. They just wanted me to drop him off with zero instruction. I witnessed the director rolling her eyes at another mother giving her the info she felt was necessary for her child. Anyway, when I picked my 15 month old up he was extremely fussy and unmanageable. I was told he ate good and slept good But when we got home, I've never seen him so unhappy and hungry. I got zero information on his day, what he ate, did or if he used the bathroom. Again, for this price, I'd expect a report, similar to what ski school provides. The second day I dropped him off they just flat out would not take him. They had 2 kids that I could tell there and told me they have a strict 9:30 drop off policy (It was 9:50). I'm sorry but for that price, you should take them any time the parent needs. When traveling with kids used to a different time zone, making it to mountains village by 9:30 can be extremely difficult when you're not staying there and focused on getting other kids ready. not to mention, NO WHERE on the internet is this drop off time mentioned. In fact, summer drop off is mentioned to be between 9:00-10:00, in which case we would have been on time. We will NEVER use them again. Save your money and book telluride sitters for half the price!!
