I booked a 4 night night stay at this mountain jewel to visit my husband who was working in Telluride this summer helping his brother who is a building contractor on the Sunnyside Housing Project. He has been gone since June and telling me what a slice of heaven Telluride is so I packed up our two pups and made the 10-ish hour drive up to check it out myself! The property is truly lovely and the staff incredibly friendly and welcoming. What I loved right from the start is they really are pet friendly. I mean there were pets everywhere (but not in an obnoxious sort of way.) The parking is limited so they had us valet our vehicle (20 per day) and it is a bit chaotic on weekends when folks seem to be checking in/out but we were able to pull down and unload, etc. We were in room 4118 which was a second floor one bedroom at the bottom of the little hill. Our room was very nice, comfortable and had a rustic/mountain vibe with a full kitchen. What I loved the most was there is this meadow (I guess it is a ski slope in the winter) on the backside of our building where we took our two pups out several times a day to run, play and take care of their business and they loved it! Housekeeping checked in on us and made sure we had whatever we needed. There is a market up at the top of the hill within walking distance of the lodge where you can get groceries. There is also a little coffee/burrito/taco place that is open M-F limited hours that serves up really good food. You can take the FREE gondola (with your dogs!) down a short ride to the mountain village where there are more restaurants AND you can take it even farther by transferring to another gondola to take it all the way down into Telluride where there are shops and restaurants. I think some of the folks we ran into here live here? I am guessing you can buy into this place and it may be some sort of timeshare. Overall we were incredibly comfortable and really enjoyed our stay here and I would absolutely stay again.

First and foremost-PET FRIENDLY! Stayed here for 3 days and thought the room was beautiful, and the area was very nice. My room was on a corner, downstairs and the back doors opened up to a lovely little stream. There were two chairs and a table to sit at and relax. Unfortunately-the cleaners do not clean up the patio area and there was trash that was thrown about by past guests (who does that??), that kinda ruined it a bit. Pros: Nice well stocked full kitchen with beautiful granite counter tops, a full sized refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, stove and oven. As soon as I arrived, everything did look clean-but because of the covid, I took all the dishes, pots, utensils glasses etc that I thought I would use and threw them into the dishwasher to 'extra' sanitize them. Beautiful cabin type room-well appointed with fireplace (double sided), couch, chairs, kitchen seating area Walking distance to nice grocery store with high-but not insanely high prices Free gondolas that takes you all over the town- and they are pet friendly-you can take your dog on them Nice walking areas to take your dog for hikes Mostly friendly staff (there were a couple not so much-but overall-most were nice) Cons Parking is insane- really hard-and their valet leaves a bit to be desired- Walls are paper thin-you can hear the entire conversation of the neighbors easily Bathtub and toilet both backed up on last night. Could not get anyone in to fix them-thankfully had a friend there as well, so I could use their bathroom. Tub was ok for showers-but did not look cleaned enough for me to ever think of using it for a soak

The best experience. My husband and I Loved staying here and the staff was excellent. It's absolutely beautiful.

Hot tub and heated pool next to the delicious The View restaurant.

It's all about the convenience here. True ski-in and ski-out just 50 yards from the boot and ski valet. We hit the hot tub every evening and took a shower in the lockers and went back to our wonderful 2 bedroom condo refreshed. The on-site View restaurant was very good. Shuttle service was excellent and drivers were friendly. They'll take you to the market and gondola where you have access to downtown Telluride and the ski village. It's all free besides gratuity to the drivers. So you don't really need a car unless you plan on going to sites in the surround long area. Rooms were tastefully decorated in modern mountain decor with all amenities. Only complaint is no in-suite washers and dryers. They have a communal mini-laundromat. Would stay here again!

Lower level of 2-bd condo, San Sophia building

Not a bad place to stay overall in terms of location - located along Double Cabin run it's a few steps from the condo buildings to the slopes, where you can ski a short way down to lifts #1 or #10. To get to the gondola it's a 4 min walk on a footpath or you can take the hotel shuttle. The base village is a short gondola ride away, and if going to Telluride you transfer to the main gondola at base village - from there you'll ride all the way up the mountain and then down to the town. The accommodation however has flaws. We stayed here for a week in a small two bedroom condo with balcony (some units in same building are larger) on the 3rd floor in the San Sophia building with elevator and small lobby. Unit has high ceilings, as the second bedroom is a loft with no windows other than two wall cutouts above the living room - not much privacy or noise insulation. The master bedroom and bathroom are much nicer than the loft, as the latter has two narrow twin beds and very little space to move around, including the very tiny bathroom - hardly room to turn around without banging on the glass shower doors. Small kitchen space, crowded when more than one using it. In short, this is a unit ok for a family with 1-2 small children but tight for 4 unrelated adults. At least everything in the condo functioned ok - gas fireplace, aircon and good WiFi. Main Lodge has a restaurant on site which is convenient, although there isn't a lot of public space to hang out. There is a pool and hot tub but the "pool" with lukewarm water is no larger than the hot tub which is small and oddly shaped - a narrow triangle and can barely hold 8 comfortably - they should turn the pool into a hot tub too since no one ever uses it. This is probably the most unsatisfactory hot tub I'd ever seen. There is another tiny prefab tub but water is not as hot and jets much weaker. To get to the hot tub it's a hike up the hill in the cold (the bathrobes supplied in room are helpful), or make use of the gym (with all of 3 machines) changing room (locker key will require a $25 deposit). Ski storage - in room, on outdoor racks or in lockers located in each condo building. To get either outdoor rack key or locker key will require a deposit of $25. Indoor lockers seem to be harder to come by - either none are free or the keys are missing. Note also that on checking in the Lodge will preauthorize a hold on your credit card at $75/day.

Wonderful gondolas that take you to Telluride

We stayed here a whole week beautiful location staff is friendly breakfast and lunch or amazing. Can't say enough manager is outstanding. Vu is spectacular. Now to the downside. Bed is beyond horrible. Dishes were dirty in the dishwasher. Housekeeping only does a percentage of cleanliness. And in my opinion, I think you should have a choice to valet or not to valet. But the number one thing is if they look at this I would honestly tell them to upgrade the beds because they are the worst beds I've ever stayed in other than that for stars. Also, when traveling to this hotel, you might experience altitude sickness. Differently make sure you bring oxygen drink plenty of water. This would've helped us a lot if we knew before we came.

What a fabulous trip! We went off season, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The room was incredible, well stocked, (even bath salts for the deep bathtub), and comfortable beds! We were greeted by Colleen who helped us with everything that we needed and made our stay feel special! 100% will be back & recommend to friends!

We just got back from a week vacation at Mountain Lodge Telluride and we were absolutely blown away. The convenience of ski in ski out was incredible as well as the endless views of the San Juan mountains and close location to the Village and Village market. After skiing all day soaking in the hot tubs was absolutely perfect. I can't thank Michelle Noyes enough for helping us book this trip, SHE IS A GEM and was without question responsible for the greatest trip our Family has ever been on, we will be back next year for sure.

Even coming from the "easy" approach (from Ouray, not from Telluride), our rental vehicles struggled in perfect weather. 4WD recommended for any trip there. 2. Opus Hut has bathrooms, but zero bath/showers. There is an out building with a wood-burning sauna, but that is as close as it gets. 3. Be prepared for a significant vertical hike at nearly 12,000 ft. elevation to get there from your car with all of your gear. 4. Be prepared for cold! Even in the summer it is cool and evenings are cold. There are stoves but no central heating. 5. Know that you are getting away from it all, and plan to get nowhere else while you are there, except for some beautiful hiking trails in the amazing mountain setting. 6. No internet or cell phone coverage. See #5. 7. The Hut has no soundproofing, so hopefully your group all likes going to bed or being quiet at the same time. My room had a giant window with no cover, so I was up with the sun every morning. Again, all of these issues have both pros and cons to them, and my 3-star review is classified by Yelp as "A-OK". So if you aren't scared off by this information, you'll probably have a great time.

Bob was an amazing host and great cook. The hut was in a great & remote location surrounded by days of hikes. If you drive from Telluride tho, make sure you have a true 4x4 with actual clearance. We took the drive with a semi 4wd rental car and it was probably the most freighting experience of our lives ha. Poor planing on our side hut hopefully a lesson learnt for others. If you're a die hard mountaineer or people like us who enjoy a good adventure and getting outside your comfort zone, I def recommend this place. Thanks bob!

A Huge Disappointment…read more When you are paying a lot of money to stay in a legendary hotel in a ski resort paradise like Telluride, there are certain things you expect. First and foremost is the service and certain amenities like a full service restaurant. Well... no restaurant and paltry breakfast options. Thank heavens for the nearby Black Iron Kitchen And Bar where the food is delicious and the service spectacular (eg Claudia, Curtis, Daniel... everyone there). The service at the Peaks is spotty: excellent concierge, Tenae, Jamie at the front desk, Jared at the bar, snd the entire ski valet service. But first and probably foremost, is the general manager who was nowhere to be found and remiss in his duties. For two consecutive days I tried to reach him to no avail. I wanted to discuss with him the situation for next year because I was considering bringing 6 or more family members back to the resort for a week. Fortunately his bad luck was my good luck. I went over to the Madeline where the service, accommodations, food, location, and amenities are spectacular and made plans with Sam to tentatively book room 433 next spring. I have never written a negative review about a resort hotel - only about ones I truly love. I am making an exception here because the Peaks deserves one.

Telluride Cubs Camp…read more I find it extremely interesting that there is nowhere on the internet to leave a review of Telluride Cubs camp specifically. We paid for two days of care at $310/day. One day of childcare in telluride is 2 weeks of child care where we live. When I dropped off the first day, they didn't want to know anything about my child and his needs. They just wanted me to drop him off with zero instruction. I witnessed the director rolling her eyes at another mother giving her the info she felt was necessary for her child. Anyway, when I picked my 15 month old up he was extremely fussy and unmanageable. I was told he ate good and slept good But when we got home, I've never seen him so unhappy and hungry. I got zero information on his day, what he ate, did or if he used the bathroom. Again, for this price, I'd expect a report, similar to what ski school provides. The second day I dropped him off they just flat out would not take him. They had 2 kids that I could tell there and told me they have a strict 9:30 drop off policy (It was 9:50). I'm sorry but for that price, you should take them any time the parent needs. When traveling with kids used to a different time zone, making it to mountains village by 9:30 can be extremely difficult when you're not staying there and focused on getting other kids ready. not to mention, NO WHERE on the internet is this drop off time mentioned. In fact, summer drop off is mentioned to be between 9:00-10:00, in which case we would have been on time. We will NEVER use them again. Save your money and book telluride sitters for half the price!!
