Cindy Lou's Cookies is the delicious creation of Chef Cindy Kruse, a pastry chef with more than 20 years of experience creating exceptional desserts. After earning a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Boston University and studying at The Culinary Institute of America, Cindy joined the opening team at Wolfgang Puck's Spago in Las Vegas in 1992. Throughout her impressive career, she has worked alongside renowned chefs including Emeril Lagasse, Charlie Trotter, Charlie Palmer, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten. In 2003, she co-created desserts for the Emmy Awards and later served as Executive Pastry Chef at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach before leading dessert production at Barton G. She has been recognized in publications such as Wine Spectator, Gourmet, People, and Pastry Arts Magazine. Chef Kruse began baking her iconic oversized cookies full-time out of a garage in Coconut Grove in 2012. Five years later, she opened the first Cindy Lou's Cookies bakery in Miami's Little River neighborhood, where she continues to bake treats while also supplying local businesses and restaurants. Parking is available in the lot just south of the building, next door to Vegan Cuban Cuisine. The moment you walk through the door, you're greeted by the most incredible aroma of freshly baked cookies and desserts. I received a warm welcome from the staff and was well taken care of throughout my visit with samples and suggestions. Choosing what to order is no easy task. The display is filled with tempting cookies, bread pudding, cake slices, sweet breads, Rice Krispie treats, mini pies, and other irresistible desserts. I thought I had already made up my mind, but then they started offering samples, which completely changed my decision. In addition to their regular menu, they feature rotating seasonal and limited-time specials. They also serve coffee which is the perfect partner to their rich desserts. I ended up with the Coconut Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie, the White Chocolate Macadamia Cookie, and the Toffee Bread Pudding. Before visiting Cindy Lou's, bread pudding wouldn't have even made my list of top ten desserts. After just one bite, I had to order it. It was rich, buttery, moist, and unforgettable. The cookies were equally impressive, thick, soft, loaded with flavor, and easily among the best I've ever had. They are on an entirely different level from the typical commercial cookie chains. Thank goodness Cindy Lou's Cookies isn't closer to where I live, or I'd probably be diabetic. However I'll definitely be stopping back the next time I'm in the area. We ran across these in New York, so curiosity got the better of us and we had to check this out. Same wide variety of tasty flavours and designs. They even make gluten-free options. The aroma welcomes you at the door and the smiling face of the hostess enhances the experience. So incredibly moist and not only was it moist on the spot but I tried my hardest to make it last a week and had a slice every day and I was shocked at how it maintained its moisture even on day 6. I'm so glad I have to make a point to go to Little Haiti and to Cindy Lou's. If I could go more easily, I'd easily gain 15 pounds. I made a Toogoodtogo pickup with them and loved every item that was in the bag. The bakery is purely counter service---maybe there's a window counter where you can park yourself if you really want to dig into something? But they do not sell coffee or tea, a.k.a. your baked item staple drinks. They do sell milk to keep your inner child cozy. It's really more of a pick out items you want and take it home with you to indulge kind of a place. The space is clearly more industrial and dedicated to the baking part of things, and I'm completely okay with that! Here's what I got: Rocky road cookie: You know the crispy part of a brownie? Like brownie brittle but with things inside? This was that embodiment, with chunks of brownie batter surrounded by melted marshmallow and crunchy walnuts. It was so airy that I almost forgot I was eating a cookie, and calories. White chocolate macadamia cookie: Crunchy, a little chewy, a lot smooth white chocolate and macadamia flavor. So good. Funfetti cookie: One of my favorites, and I usually don't like sugar cookies! The shortbread in this cookie was light, buttery and crumbly without being greasy. I want one just thinking back on it! Oreo chocolate cookie: I took 4 days to eat this one because it was so dense and satisfying with a few small pieces at a time. There was a slight mocha flavor to the chewy, thick dough, topped heavily with Oreo pieces. Lots of stuff going on for a great time in the mouth, haha. Vegan banana nut bread: I legitimately thought this was crumble cake because of its sugar coated surface. It turned out to be a super moist, albeit a little oily, banana bread chock full of nuts. That sugar coated top, though, gave it that special bite that set it apart from a homemade banana bread. I was thinking I could make these items last for a week. They were gone in 4 days. I was so happy to have them and so sad when they were done. I will absolutely return to try the entire rest of their menu and gift them to anyone whenever I have a chance! read more

For the past few days, my boyfriend and I have been craving cookies. After a Google search of cookie places nearby, I came across Cindy Lou's Cookies. The reviews sounded promising, so today, we decided to see what this place was all about! AMBIANCE Firstly, this little pink shop is so cute! The moment we opened the doors, the sweet smell of baked goods filled our noses. The ambiance is fun, casual, and inviting. SERVICE I didn't catch her name, but the girl at the counter was so welcoming and kind. She introduced us to all of our options and gave us some info about them. Her joy and friendliness made us excited to return, even before we had our first bites. TREATS We came in to just pick a couple treats, but we couldn't control ourselves and kept choosing more and more things to try! Although we were tempted to get one of everything, we decided on: 1) pistachio pound cake 2) almond pound cake 3) fudge frosted sugar cookie 4) captain crunch cookie 5) quesito cookie ... WOW! The pound cakes were pillowy and moist, and sweet without being overpowering. They tasted similar to each other, with the almond cookie being a little lighter on flavor and the pistachio a little heavier on flavor. The cookies were huge and delicious! The sugar cookie was crumbly and mildly sweet like shortbread, and that fudge frosting was thick and chocolaty. The captain crunch has the perfect little crunch on the outside while being soft in the center. It was very sweet, which I enjoyed. The cereal itself has the right texture in my opinion. I was concerned it would be too hard, but it wasn't! The quesito was also yummy--very soft and a nice amount of sweetness. Everything tasted amazing.
