Wow, I lived/went to school in Hacienda Hts from 1988 to 1992 and I don't remember eating here back then, but when I came in, it felt like this spot existed that far back, as indicated by the fallen off Cindy's Kitchen sign and very faded photos of dishes in the window. This is a no frills hole-in-the-wall and only locals visit. The restaurant is definitely a casual location, with some cold dish items in large bowls in the glass deli counter and then there were pre-made & pre-packaged dishes such as dumplings, asian tamales and drinks in a commercial refrigerators on the side. There are only a handful of tables as the dining room isn't very big. There was a steady stream of customers for dine in and take out. This place was listed as serving Taiwanese food, but I feel like it serves more Chinese dishes than Taiwanese. They did have beef noodle soup with lean meat, tendon or lean meat & tendon. It was good but the broth was not as deeply unctuous as the Taiwan versions. I am Taiwanese and my relatives were visiting from Washington and Alabama, so I was hoping they had more Taiwanese dishes like oyster pancake, rice meat balls, squid vermicelli soup, gua boas, etc. The waitress and cooks were from China and not Taiwan. Maybe the original owners were Taiwanese...idk. The menu is extensive for such a small mom & pop type restaurant and had nice photos of some of the dishes. Family decided to give this place a try, small place with seating for maybe 15 or less. We ordered several dishes including beef noodle with stew, beef noodle with tendon, braised pork belly, pork & shrimp dumplings, cumin beef and bok choy with tofu skin. Noodle had a good taste but I prefer the wide flat noodle style more. Braised pork belly was very tender and the sauce was tasty, wish it came with rice though.....had to add it for extra $ Dumplings were a hit, would have preferred them pan fried but they were still popular among us. Cumin beef was good but a little too much cumin, really over powered the dish. Bok Choy with tofu skin was NOT bok choy, it was napa cabbage which is crazy that they didn't know the difference. Definitely a hole in the wall but a good one. Came here with a friend and we definitely over ordered but it was great because I had so many leftovers. Now I like picking up to-go orders. My favorite is their frozen lion heads because I take it home and add vegetables and noodles and make multiple meals out of it. Their side dishes are also very good and convenient. It's great to order a few and just eat them with rice. Their dish portions are also plentiful though I feel like the portions were more in person than as takeout but could just be because it's compacted for takeout. This is a well-rated on Yelp and it's well deserved. Cindy's Kitchen is located in an unassuming plaza and the interior is nothing notable. Their food is the exact opposite, comforting and delicious with giant portions. We got the beef combo noodle soup, one with wide noodle and one with thin noodle. I prefer the wide noodle because it was more qq, while the thin noodles were a little overcooked. The sauce on the braised pork rice was delicious. I grew up living walking distance from Cindy's Kitchen, but I only started going to Cindy's after I moved away from Hacienda. It's a small restaurant with very limited parking. The BEST beef noodle soup I've ever had! This hole in the wall spot packs a punch when it comes to their food! We ordered beef noodle soups, a crispy chicken over rice, and dumplings. Everything was a 10/10. The noodles had this really bouncy texture and was very flavorful from the broth. The beef was also very soft and the veggies were cooked perfectly. As for the crispy chicken rice, they give you a HEFTY amount of rice and the chicken is crispy yet still juicy. The dumplings were also flavorful and you get 12 pretty decent sized dumplings! There is only one server here so we gave her some grace as most of time the tables were full. Took lots of time for refills and for the check/ boxes. One thing I thought was weird was that I asked for two containers for leftovers- so I could separate the noodles and the soup to make sure it doesn't get soggy. They offer of a variety of many Taiwanese and Chinese sides. I personally like to come here for the beef noodle soup. Whenever I come, I always end up spending over $90 - which sounds like a lot, but let me tell you: you will have food for every meal for the rest of the week. Their prices are extremely reasonable in this economy. I've even encountered a few customers that I've talked to their that mention they drive all the way from Riverside to come here for the food because no one can be the quality and price that Cindy's Kitchen offers. They are extremely quick when serving your food or preparing it to go order. Just a heads up, there is a $20 minimum when using your credit card! But I'm not complaining at all! I've been here several times, and the beef noodle soup here is one of the best I've had in the SGV and Rowland Heights area. The broth is flavorful, the noodles are a perfect texture, and the beef tendon is so good! It is a smaller restaurant but they also offer takeout options. They have dumplings for sale as well which look to be made in house, but I haven't tried it yet because I always come back for the beef noodle soup! Small mom and pop type place. This place came on my radar because I heard that their beef noodle soup was really great and that's why I wanted to make a trip out here. It's located in a small strip mall that feels slightly off the beaten path in the area. I came during the week wanting something soupy, and this place was perfect. They also sell frozen dumplings to go and other dishes that you can take to go or eat there. When I got there, the place wasn't too busy so I was able to sit right away and I was helped by some really sweet people. The noodle soup came out pretty quickly and it was as great as I imagined. As I get older and older, there are two things that's prevalent. 1) I tend to forget a lot of things, including reviewing Yelp restaurants I went to a month ago. 2) I tend to gravitate towards childhood staple hole in the wall places to eat rather than chain restaurants. Come enter Cindy's Kitchen. A restaurant with the smallest parking lot and table made for 5 to 6 parties. You know what though? If you can find a spot, they'll make it work for you here. I was lucky enough to score a table but the people who came after had to wait. The owners here do try to have a table ready for the party. As you enter, you're greeted by the staggering amount of side dishes available here. It's probably the most I've seen ever in a restaurant. They have some all ready to go, while some you can buy by the pound. But the day I was here, we were here for some childhood favorites such as pork chop rice. It's good, it's got a stewed egg along with minced pork. If you look closely at the minced pork there seems to be mushrooms and mustard greens. Both common to the traditional Taiwanese staple dish. BTW, they give you a heaping portion of rice. Maybe equivalent to 2 bowls at home. We had to order something green to go with it and the string beans with eggplant fits the bill. I don't know why more Chinese restaurants don't put both together because we love both dishes. I highly recommend ordering it if you too love both dishes but don't want to order two separate ones. The beef noodle soup, well it was terrific. If you know me and beef noodle soup, I'm always on the hunt for really great ones. This one is no exception, it is a MUST order. Has just enough spices and heat that comforts your stomach and triggers your childhood memories on why this is one of your favorite dishes. Beef is tender and flavorful and comes with boy choy and a 1/2 small jar of mustard greens. (We finished whatever was in the jar, our compliments to the chef ) I do want to point out I had originally asked for 1 container for 2 dishes. But the lady saw what I had to take home and decided to give me 2 different containers. I merely pointed this out only because this is typically what Asian aunties would do. After three visits here, I feel like I can give a good review of the menu. Cindy's Kitchen is a hole in the wall that only seats about 18 people so it looks like some regulars opt to order food to go. They have a wide variety of options from noodle dishes to stir fry dishes to rice bowl options so there's something for everyone. They also make/sell frozen XLB, wontons, buns and dumplings which I've not tried. Unfortunately, they don't sell XLB for dine in customers but they do offer dumplings and wontons. Beyond all this, they have many cold dishes at the deli counter and most of these are pretty good so they can compliment the stir fry dishes. As other have noted, they only have 1 person in the front of house so service may be slower. I think there's only 2 people in the kitchen. In my three dinner visits, I only saw one non-Chinese speaking table so I have no idea how well the waitress can communicate in English but there is English on the menu as well as on all the signs for the sides and frozen foods for sale. Heard about this place from my coworker and we decided to come here for lunch on a Wednesday at 1200. Tiny parking lot and even smaller inside with just 5-6 tables. It was really busy and packed and there were a lot of people coming in to pick up orders to go. One lady, I'm assuming the owner, was pretty much doing everything in the front of the house. Serving, taking orders, cleaning, etc. Me and my coworker got the beef noodle soup and it was really good. You can get spicy or mild and we got mild. The color of the beef looked a little weird, but it was nice and tender and falls apart. I usually don't like bok choy, but it was also really good. I also liked the pickled mustard they have on each table that you can add to your noodles. It was also a really huge bowl, way bigger than most other beef noodle soup I have had at other places. Around $30 for two big bowls of noodles is also a pretty good price. Like I said earlier, it is one lady working so it took about 20-30 minutes to get our food. I didn't mind as I had nothing else to do, but if you're impatient, you might not like eating here. Really big menu with a lot of different stuff on there. They also have frozen dumplings and buns for sale and a lot of cold item appetizers that looked really good. I'll be back to try some of the other stuff on the menu. read more

The pork was pretty bland, and super thin. Not what you'd expected of a 'pork chop' meal. The chickenw as more like chicken katsu. The small dishes were decent - definitely give you a feel of a home-y place. The lot is small, but park in the nearby residential streets is pretty plentiful. The biggest negative for us though was the service. The lady working the front was friendly enough, but she literally was the only person to handle to-go orders and the dine-in customers. The food was really good! I ordered several classic dishes and asked them to reduce the spiciness for my friends who are more sensitive to spicy foods, and it was about right. I would recommend you to leave it as is if you enjoy spicy foods, however. Their beef noodle soup was nothing special, but their fish and other dishes were amazing. I finally visited after so long. I think I saw this place last year and intended to visit since then. Yesterday was the day. I loved that they had so many cold appetizers ready to serve. When you first walk into the restaurant you'll see it looks very authentic and similar to a fast food style restaurant but this is where most people might leave but TRUST ME take a seat and order it up! Everything we ordered was delicious. The KungPao Shrimp was the right amount of punch and they didn't skimp on the peanuts nor the shrimp. The house special pan fried beef was so tender and had a great flavor. The dumpling soup (although I thought it was a soup dumpling with the soup inside the dumpling) was flavorful, and the dumplings were delicious with the right amount of spice. Was so glad I happened on this very unassuming joint after a visit to the Hsi Lai Temple nearby. Probably the best beef noodle I've ever had stateside (compared to Taiwan that is), the other reviews don't lie. We also ordered the braised pork intestine which had the perfect amount of smoke to the flavor. We had some leftover pork intestine to take home, but we also ordered a few cold apps to take home.
