Authentic Shanghainese restaurant with huge portion of rice or noodles. Xunyu is a must order item. It's a food court location so don't expect much of a service but the cashier gentleman has always been friendly.

This place reminds me of a resturant in Shanghai called ShuCaiJi on Yunnan road. I have heard many great things about No 1 Rice and decided to give it a try. Service was great where you order at the kiosk and the server will bring the food to you once ready. The pan fried dumpling was a bit too sweet. The mini wonton soup was a bit too plain. Overall, the resturant is in a food court and ideal for take out or grab something real quick.

This is a restaurant that's tucked inside the foodcourt area in the plaza. There is plenty of parking and I never had trouble finding any. We ordered some usual home style shanghainese cuisines such as kaofu (fermented tofu curd), shanghainese spare ribs etc... everything tasted bland but is ok enough for general consumption as long as you don't mind the taste. It's cheap for what it is and is a viable option for those looking for an ok cheap meal.

I don't usually leave reviews, but I have to make an exception for this place! The Shanghainese food here is incredibly authentic. I'm from Shanghai and I've been searching for authentic pan-fried dumplings and spring rolls, and this place delivered. The taste of the panfried dumpling reminds me of "Xiao Yang Shen Jian" from Shanghai. The stuffed meatball was also fantastic. I can't wait to return and try even more!

Their Shengjianbao (pan fried bun) is pretty good and reasonably priced. Everything else is so so.

We ordered the Big plate chicken to share, and let me tell you, it was phenomenal! The dish is a spicy chicken stew made with Sichuan peppercorns, cumin, and chili paste, and comes with handpulled noodles. It was my first time trying this type of Chinese-Uyghur crossover dish, and it definitely surpassed my expectations. The portion was incredibly generous as well, as the dish was more than enough for the two of us plus leftovers. All in all, our night out at Ma's Kitchen was a success! ****************** My Ratings: 1 Star: Terrible; just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars: Wasn't a fan so Not likely to return. 3 Stars: Meh. We just wanted to try these out & I just learned from the other reviews that these are jianbings. These seem simple and healthy since you can taste each ingredient - little to no salt other than from the hot dogs/sauces/cracker/chili oil used to make it spicy. Some might find that bland but I love the simplicity. Great snack/light meal, and more casual than typical Chinese restaurant food. The cart seems to be run by a husband/wife duo who work hard and are open every day from day to night. Nice to support a small local business!

We pulled up about 6:30 pm - there was a small line at this little converted bicycle as a stand? Just one guy making every order! The crepe was really awesome there was some kind of crispy wanton wrappers, (maybe), a hot dog , 3 eggs, green onion, cilantro, and hot sauce - please do not discount how good the stone milled crepes are! For $10 totally delicious and worth it- every ingredient did its job in the crepe and made every bite a little different and interesting

It took about ten minutes for us to get a booth table, but we were waiting inside. The staff member called numbers firstly in Cantonese then in English. After we sat down, the waiting line persisted past 1 pm. Similarly, the bustling loudness continued on during the course of our meal. Food arrived quickly, however. The price point for the delicious food is competitive. We got French-style filet mignon ($18.99), braised tofu in brown sauce ($14.99), chicken chow mein ($14.99), and a steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork ($5.99). A pot of rice was included in our meal. The steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork was a nice appetizer that arrived first. I enjoyed how the French-style filet mignon was garnished with Thai basil, black pepper, and ginger. The meat was flavorful and tender. The braised tofu in brown sauce was consistently hot on the inside. The delicious brown sauce soaked throughout the vegetables. The chicken chow mein didn't have a lot of sauce, but it was still delicious with a lot of meat included. Overall, it would be nice to visit again outside of a peak time because the food prices are competitive. The menu is expansive, and the breakfast selections look interesting. The atmosphere during the Sunday lunch peak time was consistently bustling. I think the restaurant started to play Chinese music loudly at random points so that people could finish dining more quickly.
