Awesome spot to grab a drink located centrally on Revolución. We headed straight to the rooftop bar, which features great views of the area, as well as a wonderful ambiance. The high ceilings made for an airy, spacious feel. The decor and art are very hip. Fortunately during the mid-afternoon, it wasn't too crowded. Our group ordered a variety of drinks, from negronis to spritzers. Everything was refreshing and well-prepared. Go to the third floor for the rooftop! It gets a bit windy and chilly up there, so bring a light coat. Cine Tonala is super moder, hipster, and cool. The bar on the 3rd story along with the décor looks like it belongs somewhere in Gaslamp. The food was pretty cheap but on the smaller fancier portion size. We got the ceviche, octopus tostada, and shrimp tostada. The ceviche was really good, lots of octopus! It was quite expensive though since if you pay in USD they gave you the exchange rate of 16 (the day we went it's about 19). The shrimp tostada was amazing! The portions of the shrimp were very good, and it tasted so fresh. I also liked my octopus tostada. It was a bit on the smaller side, but I would pay that any time since I can't get it for less than that in the states! Drinks were good, made very much like a craft cocktail place. I'd be here all the time if it were closer. Their food & cocktails. Especially the conejo rabioso mezcal drink. It's loaded with tajin and other flavors to knock your socks off. The tacos -- the tortillas are out of this world. I recommend the mushroom one and the pork jowl. Next time I go I wanna take some of the crispy pork jowl and just sprinkle it onto the mushroom taco for the extra texture. I that would be the perfect taco. This place has a very nice roof top bar/restaurant, the bar is ok with a nice beer selection and some craft beer available the cocktails; my recommendation is to stick with the classics the mixology as they present it was not for me, most of the drinks were way to sweet and with no real flavor. In regards of the food the only dish that I really enjoyed is the Cauliflower tostada (I am not a Vegan) its delicious! I just cant get enough of it, the rest of the food is ok to try it. I had had this bar on my "to try list" for sometime and was so glad I finally tried it in August 2017. Even though Cine Tonala has been around for more than six months there is still some newness to it. Cine Tonala is located near seventh and Revolucion. If you are coming from San Diego it is easy to take an Uber or you can walk from the border. There are three levels to Cine Tonala. The first level has a café, photos of celebrities on the walls as well as the bathrooms. The second level has a boutique and a staircase. The third level is where the action is. There is a bar and numerous tables. Some nights there are films that are played via projection screen. While they do play movies, I have heard that many people just come to socialize and drink. The third level also boasts a great view of the city. I ordered a mojito and I really enjoyed it. I was with a group of more than twenty and all enjoyed their drinks. While I did not try any food items, what I did see on the plates of others at my table appeared delicious as the descriptions on the menu. The service was ok, but they could be more friendly. The prices seemed reasonable for a new location with a great view. And as I say for many places in Tijuana, I am already wanting to return. read more

I don't know if it is because I was super hungry, but the food here is incredible. I honestly can't tell you what I ate, cuz my friend ordered everything. But everything was delicious. I had some ceviche and some tuna and some salmon and some cauliflower. even the dishes I thought were going to be so-so was delicious. The salad was great. Be sure to go up to the 3rd floor for the roof top seating. Their cocktails were amazing as well. I honestly didn't taste much alcohol in the cocktails, but I'm not really an alcohol drinker so that didn't bother me much. This restaurant is very accessible and the menu extensive. It was my first time in Mexico, and I'm glad that this was my first food experience here. Please come here. The food is ridiculous. I used to come here often but not anymore.. Yes their drinks are good and the rooftop is nice but yesterday I had such a horrible experience. Came in for a drink and some food. Went to the bathroom and came back to my seat. I go to sit down and it turns out there was a nail sticking out of the bench and it cuts up my leg (4-5 inch gash), I was bleeding all over. I ask for a bandaid they say they don't have any. I ask for SOMETHING to cover the cut, he says "hold on". He told me to hold on once more but after about 10 minutes we just left. The server didn't ask to see where the nail was, didn't ask if I was ok, the whole place had a "no fucks given" attitude. read more

Super, super, SUPER expensive. I went during 'happy hour', on the recommendation of someone on the internet. If that's their 'happy hour', I'd hate to see their full prices! This four star review is sure to be upgraded upon my next visit when I'll certainly take the opportunity to dive into the menu, which looked delicious. That being said, I tried the cocktails and they were excellent! Okay, Revolution has changed drastically over the past 5-6 years. Hell, it's changed a ton in the last year and Cine Tonalá is one of the most recent additions. It's hidden in plain view and when you walk by you're likely to miss it or dismiss it as an upscale movie theater. Dive in, friends. Dive in! Once through the doors you'll want to hook a right and start climbing a few flights of stairs. Once you reach the top you'll be welcomed by a wide open and comfortable rooftop deck with a semi-wide open kitchen. There was an old movie projected on the wall and they've done a great job of making you feel removed from the hustle and bustle on the streets below. My favorite part? This is prob our fave cocktail bar on the Revolucion in Tijuana. Their hand crafted cocktails are superb. High quality ingredients and good liquor in all their drinks plus a decent selection of Tijuana beers. The pina mezcal drink and tamarind mezcal drinks are superb. The place is also just very cool. We have not done the cinema portion of the place yet but that looks awesome as well. Upstairs patio available. We stop here every time we are in TJ. The bartender Abraham is great and fun to talk to. read more

Ok, so I'm giving this place 4 stars for the drinks but 5 stars for location and atmosphere:) Amazing location and friendly staff. We didn't eat here, so I can't wait to try the food later. They had us "wait" for maybe 15mns even though they had pleeeenty seating available, so that was odd. We ordered drinks which were very good, but unfortunately were lacking in punch. Beautiful, very chic bar with multiple levels. It was chilly when my friend and I visited the top rooftop, but luckily they had several heaters. We were able to comfortably enjoy our delicious cocktails and see great views of the city. The owner was very friendly and stopped by our table to chat for a bit. I was so so pleasantly surprised to find this super modern, adorable, trendy and hip bar right on Revolución! It is so adorable inside, and to me, doesn't look like any other TJ bar. It reminds me of something I'd see in Manhattan or in the North Park area of San Diego. The staff is really nice, too, and the drinks are tasty. You have to head up to the 3rd level and look at the view of TJ at night. This is really a gem and I highly recommend it. It's not the place you go after you've been drinking all day, but it's definitely a fun dinner spot before you get crazy. read more

This a great "roof top" bar in Tijuana. I feel like Mexico needs places like this where is not your typical rundown 1990s bar in Revolución. The place is very clean and the food is quite tasty. After going to the beach in Ensenada and walking around for a bit, we decided to make out way back to San Diego. But only one problem - Sundays at the border can take a while. My friend/tour guide said let's get another drink and wait for the lines to simmer down(granted, I have Global Entry and my friend has SENTRI but the wait was still going to be over an hour). Now, I don't remember what exactly was in the drink I had. It definitely was mescal and it had orange and lime juice, simple syrup and what I could make out as a mix of kiwifruit and guava or some Mexican fruit that had those flavors with a Tajin rim. In any case, it was dangerously drinkable. It was reminiscent of a mai tai and a margarita. My friend had the same thing but with tamarind - we both ordered the same for the next round. The view at the top floor was the best part, you can see all of the touristy part of Tijuana and even up to the border, past the arch. My friend says it's TJ's version of Foreign Cinema in the Mission. I'll take his word on that. read more

They don't provide straws with drinks, even if you ask for one! Tried the mojito and noticed a few brown mint leaves inside...maybe they need to pick through the leaves more thoroughly before adding them to drinks. We were there for an artist presentation--ordered drinks at the bar and were told they would deliver the drinks inside the theater (drinks never delivered and show ended). Big kudos for layout, bringing artists to the region and for opening on Av. Revolucion. They def need to improve service and introduce straws. read more

I really enjoy the atmosphere in this place, its perfect for late night drinks. Their mojito, conejo rabioso (mezcal drink), and their baileys irish cream are all really good. The place has a decent open panoramic view of Tijuana, which adds charm to the place and to the moment. I have also gone for Sunday Brunch and its really tasty, they have a great variety of options and their mimosas are really good as well. I have yet to go see a movie at this place. read more

The place is truly average, and I had higher hopes for this establishment. The cocktails took forever to arrive, and there were only two other tables. My entire party was disappointed. The craft cocktails were much more crafty than they were boozy, and our mimosas were served with OJ and soda water. Upon asking for champagne or sparkling wine, we were told that they didn't have any. Essentially, we were served mimosas with no alcohol and the staff didn't plan on telling us.
