When we walked into the theater it seemed nice at first impression, but soon after we walked into our theater room it was a gross mess, popcorn, trash, and old alcoholic beverage containers left out still from the last movie showing before ours showed. The service was not very good and everyone that works here should under-go customer service training again because it was not satisfying at all. As well as learning how to clean properly this whole theater was a mess after paying close attention. This place has some serious problems, TAKE YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Standard food and drink offerings were available at the concessions stand with no lines on a slow Saturday afternoon, and a few small tables with seating in the lobby. The auditorium opened about 25 minutes before the listed showtime, then 12 minutes of previews before the start of the feature film. For a non-busy day, auditorium 1 wasn't cleaned very well. Found popcorn and crumbs on my seat and the one next to me, even on the one in front of me, as well as on the ground... not a lot, but it was noticeable. The elevation is minimal, so if someone was sitting in front of me, their head would have probably blocked my view. I did however appreciate that there was ample space between rows. No reclining seats, but they were comfortable and in good condition, with cupholders. No problems with picture or audio, and perfect comfortable temperature inside. A no-frills theater with old school charm and lovely artwork and decor to add a nice touch to my viewing experience. And the movie I saw was out of this world, just what I would expect from Steven Spielberg.

Widescreen theater with ample, comfortable seating and pretty good sound system. The interior of the theater is beautiful and really takes you away from the outside world for just a bit. Staff here were friendly and the restrooms are clean. Can't really ask for more! Tip: You likely don't need to pre-order tickets especially if you're not watching during premier week.

It can be a bit overwhelming with the extreme heights to get to seats, so yes it as an intense experience. I saw a nature documentary and the visuals were awesome. It was a nightmare and before I get into why let me first say I absolutely LOVED seeing the Odyssey in a normal theater. From the start with the Tech's Dome there were issues. We arrived 33 minutes early and already it seemed that there were 3/4 of the people the theater could fit in line. We waited for about 20 minutes in the summer heat to get in. They let us in before the movie started. Went to get seats first since they aren't assigned and they were the worst movie theater seats I've seen in years! Crammed like sardines. I fly often for work and am more comfortable riding coach on a plane. Then I went to get popcorn and water and the line was so long with just one register. By the time I got into the theater the movie was nearly 10 minutes in ... and they had a bunch of people still in line behind me. Now the worst of it... You can't see a damn thing in the Dome. Forget about sitting high up - that wasn't even the issue. It was that the movie was blurry and especially blurry if there was quick movement - and this is an action movie! I knew what was coming and how it was supposed to look since I had seen it a few weeks previously and I could barely make out what was happening. I felt bad for my friend I invited who hadn't yet seen the movie. He had the line of the night as we walked out: "Well.. it seemed like it was a dope movie"... You see a movie like this at the Dome and you'll get robbed of actually SEEING the movie. Just don't do it. August 28th! Happy National Power Rangers Day!…read more Santa Cruz Cinema plays a lot of movies other theaters won't and that's a good thing. I like how they tend to play more limited run movies. I came here today and watched The Legend of the White Dragon. Growing up in the 90's power rangers was my childhood and I'm glad Jason David Frank's legacy lives on and this movie got to see the light of day after being shelved for years. Thank you Santa Cruz cinema, you're the ONLY theater in Santa Cruz county that decided to show it even if you knew tickets sales were going to be low, and for that you will continue to get my business.

It smelled like burnt popcorn the whole film. I had half of my dinner put away in a bag, my dinner which I ate before the film because I knew there was a no outside food policy. I am a student that had work before the movie so I had no time to drop my leftovers off at home. I also commute so I have no car to store it in. I was given the option to throw away the food or I couldn't go in. The lack of empathy was disappointing, I understand the purpose of the rule but I was not planning to eat the food nor was it out in the open. As a student I was trying to save money and save the food for another meal, but I was forced to toss a perfectly good meal because of this theaters lack of understanding.

And I wonder if attendance will be sufficient, it feels like people want a local movie theater but not enough of them actually want to visit it. And I was a bit surprised at the condition of the theater. Most significantly, when I watched Project Hail Mary yesterday, the image was very misaligned with the screen. At the top and bottom, it spilled beyond the screen by a good foot. And the sides, it fell short of the edges of the screen by a half foot. On the right hand side, masking material was simply missing from the screen setup. In a charming local theater like this, I'm not expecting big theater video and audio quality (and neither are, and both are adequate). But the setup last night seemed janky, so much so that it makes me less likely to visit again.

They had standard offerings at the concessions stand, and I was able to grab a snickers ice cream bar cuz I needed some sugar (and I love chocolate) with sufficient service and no wait. I do appreciate that Cinelux theaters typically sell beer and wine too, and apparently canned cocktails. Everything went smoothly during my time here, even parking was easy in the shared lot for the plaza. A great way to end my weekend.

The ones who didn't were not near us but you could see their car, sort of frustrating. The concession shop and bar were nice but a little busy. The bathrooms were CLEAN! Was not expecting that at all. Gives me peace of mind when trying to sit through a 3 hour movie. Only down side to this location if it is off a busy street so you get a ton of loud exhaust vehicles driving by and airplanes over head. Inconvenient if you sit outside or with the trunk open laying in the back. Still a good price compared to theaters.
