Saw Dune 2 here last night and it was quite the experience: Pros - possibly the most unique cinema experience in the Bay Area - impressive audio and visual technology - friendly staff - perfect DTSJ location - parking validated for the civic center and 2nd st garages - student discount ($2/ticket) Cons - the visuals are so massive that it can be tough to focus your eyes especially in fast sequenced action scenes - you sacrifice some of the creature comfort amenities that other theaters offer to be in the dome (reclined seats, extra leg room, food service, etc) - seats are first come first serve, so it's back to waiting in line to make sure you're not stuck in the front All in all a worthwhile experience that I'm glad I tried! I'd be hesitant to see another feature film here but would love to try one of the educational offerings included in the tech museum ticket. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, making what could've been a chaotic queueing and seating process super smooth.

Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2019 We recently watched Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. This was our first time here. One staff member recommended the very last row at top for best view of the movie and they were correct. It was a little on the chilly side in the theater. When we entered the screen was a bright blue making you feel like you were in the ocean. They allowed us to enter 15 minutes before the movie started. I'm not one for being afraid of heights but I found the space between the top row and the next row there was a large enough space for your foot to slip through- it was scary. The sound of the movie was loud at first then was fine. I'm not too keen on the fishbowl effects of the imax screen. Noelle's Notes Chilly theater Super loud

The IMAX dome theater was awesome! It was so awesome that we came again the next day and saw another movie before heading to the airport. As if a traditional IMAX screen wasn't already large enough, this one incorporates an IMAX sized screen into a dome shape which means you seemingly have a 360 degree view and there obviously isn't going to be a bad seat in the house! It's definitely a cool experience if you've never been here before. Not sure if they have these anywhere else in the country, because I've definitely never heard of it or experienced it before! Highly recommended!!

I love the galaxy shows on the huge dome screen . My favorite experience now and when I took field trips there with my class.

Seating is comfortable- allowing patrons to recline and heat up your chairs. Best of all, each seat has its own table- great for kids and for huge snackers! CineArts is well kept and always clean during my visits. The concession stand offers alcoholic drinks, hot foods, popcorn, candies, and sugary beverages. Hot dogs, popcorn, and the pizzas are great- chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks are trash. Don't bother getting the tenders or mozz sticks unless you like it dry and hard. 5/5 stars overall. Tickets are pricey but i guess everything is nowadays. Idk about you but I'd rather spend my money on a place that guarantees comfortability and cleanliness.

Hadn't come to this cinema for quite a few years and it was still as nice as we remembered with big recliner seats. I took her to the theater near her house and she immediately hated it because "the seating feels uncomfortable." I don't even know what that means, but okay. So I took a chance and brought her to Oakridge, and I'm glad I did. I took her and her friend to see Five Nights at Freddy's. They sat a few rows away from me, which was perfect because it meant I could scroll in peace like the responsible adult I am. Popcorn prices weren't terrible (a small miracle these days), the seats were comfy, and it was just really nice to have a day out with my two girls without anyone melting down over ceilings. Honestly, this theater is way better than the one near her house and definitely better than roasting at home.

But that's merely because life is uncomfortable and I am intentional about finding cozy pockets of joy. This theater is not updated with the fancy seats, but what it lacks in that it more than makes up in charm, service, and community cultivation. Visiting 3Below reminded me that venturing out of that corporate capitalist bubble of perceived coziness would put me in a vibrant hub of social awareness. This is where you go to see the Documentaries IG mentions, but no theaters seem to have times for. This is where you can catch live performances on the same stage that you'll watch a thought provoking film. And, as the manager/owner of the fiercest security dog I've encountered mentioned, THIS is where you could learn to tap dance. Now, I'm hoping this could be a location for some line dancing in the near future, because I think Sofa Streetfair could be the place for some of this, and 3Below seems the perfect hub for practicing. But, what a cute location, and I'm told it's locally owned, too. I didn't actually fact check that, so my apologies if I'm spreading misinformation here. I'm just doing my best to sell you on falling in love with this alternative theater as much as my friend has...I'm converted and I'll definitely be back.

When we first came for the soft opening, the service was quite slow and disorganized. We did not receive our food until the second half of the movie, even though we ordered at the beginning. However, we were impressed with the quality of the food and the strict no phones policy. At this point, Alamo was using a pencil and paper method for the staff to come by and pick up orders during the movie. We ordered bottomless popcorn and chicken strips meals. For the price, we felt we were given a generous amount of chicken. It also seemed to be better quality than chicken at other theaters in the area. We returned recently to see another movie, and the service had definitely improved. The staff was very quick with getting our food to us, and the quality of the food remained the same. However, it does seem like Alamo has lifted their no phones policy, opting to have moviegoers order food on their phones rather than with the original pen and paper method. While our theater was generally respectful about their phone use, part of the appeal of going to Alamo was that it was less likely other people in the theater would interrupt the movie with a bright screen.
