It is what it is... a cheaper theater than VRC, but obviously spendier than the sorely-missed $1.50 theater at the other end of the mall. I'd give it a higher rating, if not for two things: 1) pricks being allowed to screw around on their phones throughout movies, which is like a dozen little flashlights waving around in front of you, and 2) a recent crossing of paths with the boss there, who is an asshole of extraordinary magnitude. The best multiplex experience in the area, hands down. The seats are great, and the stadium rake is steep enough so that you don't see 20 phone screens on in front of you while trying to watch the movie. Theater staff has always displayed professionalism and competence to me. One minor complaint is that the soundproofing between theaters could use some work. I feel that movies are played a little on the quiet side to help compensate for this, and the audio from the adjoining theaters is sometimes quite audible during the show. read more

New seating is a hugeeeeeee upgrade. I have been to this theatre probably a hundred times and have never had a problem (besides outrageous concession prices haha) and now it's even better! The new seats make you feel like your at home in a recliner, and the new setup with the wall in between rows is awesome. read more

The reserved seating is the best, a must have for theaters today. Add in the super comfy reclining chairs and I really don't want to go to any other theater. The popcorn here is also better than the other big chain theater in town. read more

A clean and comfortable theatre with dramatically cheaper prices for current movies. How could you not love a $4.50 matinee and a $6.50 evening ticket? The seats are comfy, the sound and picture great. I won't go anywhere else for a movie in Eugene/Springfield. read more

Gateway Mall is dying a slow death, but the theaters are worth keeping. The Cinemark 17 shows first-run films, and the 12 is the super-saver with movies that have been out for a while. The movie-going experience is as good as VRC's Regal, but it's less crowded, less expensive, and often shows the same films. There's also a lower excitement level because of fewer people, which may be a plus or minus in your book. If the movie you want to see is at both places, come here. read more

Bring your deep woods OFF! While I was visiting Eugene this past week (8/14/12), I had nothing to do, so I went to see the Dark Night at the Cinemark 17... I was pleasantly surprised to see that the matinee was only $4. I walked to the theater and as I turned the corner, I felt something on my neck. I slapped it and off fell a mosquito. I thought... I must have brought one in... Nope. Over the next 3 hours (or however long the movie was) I was swatting and getting attacked by mosquitoes. Inside. Indoors. At the movies! As I think about it now, I am not sure why I stayed, but it was definitively not worth getting SEVEN bites for. I didn't know that I needed my deep woods off to see a movie. I would not recommend until they fumigate. read more

Awesome theater they have awesome full back seats. The floor is never sticky! Never to crowed cause the 17 screens. And they actually do have "better" than usual pop corn here too. Been here a few times and always stop in when I'm in town. Good theater all around. read more

I purchased tickets in the Springfield, OR theater to see Logan. The movie was very full and there were only a few seats left. This was the first time I have attended a movie since the luxury seating went in. I was not told that the seats we selected were in the front - I thought they were in the back row. When I was seated, the row was so ridiculously close to the screen to could hardly see it. The row shouldn't even exist there! I walked out of the movie and got a refund and had to sit in the lobby for 2 hours waiting for the rest of my party to finish the movie as they were in different seats. The front row needs to be removed! At least the managers were kind. read more

Clean,stadium seating, friendly staff. Only got four stars because something they use on the popcorn has MSG so I can't eat it. It. Kinda ruins the experience for me, but not my family. Does keep me on my diet though. read more

I had pretty much stopped going to the movies because I didn't like sitting in a crowd of people. I'd heard that the new seating at this theater was better, but I didn't realize the extent to which the experience had been improved. Yes, the recliners are super comfortable. But the biggest benefit of the new seating is that the seats are spaced out from each other, with a wall between every row. Now every seat has a perfect view - it doesn't matter if there's a tall person in front of you. And I think what I enjoy even more is the distance behind me! There's no one coughing germs onto the back of your head, and you're much less likely to hear people talking. It has completely eliminated the annoyance of people kicking the back of your chair. And if you have to go to the restroom during the movie, it's a breeze to just walk down your aisle without having to climb over anyone. And it's STILL cheaper than Valley River. I will be going to the movies more frequently now. read more

We had a hard time to find the front door. Over all our experience been ok there. Tickets cost less before 4 everyday which thats nice although we never actually get go at that time since we have ti work. Its never been busy. Its a ok average movie theater. No real 3D or Imax so i would give 3.5 but yelp doesn't do half stars lol read more

Hotdogs had mold on the buns.they gave are money back but manager did not once ask if we wanted something else or apologize. The seating was very nice but between moldy food and a terrible manager we will go to vally river from now on read more

After coming the the Cinemark 17 I probably won't go to any other large movie theater in the Eugene area ever again. Their seats are amaaaaazing! I came to see Beauty and the Beast (which was a wonderful movie by the way) and I knew the theater had been redone to provide more comfortable chairs. I didn't realize how comfortable until I sank into the cushiony chair and reclined my feet up instead of putting them on the chair in front of me. The seats were so comfortable that I could easily watch a 2+ hour movie comfortably here! Usually I dread the uncomfortable chairs that you have to squeeze by people to get to while kids kick your seat behind you but not at this place! Everything else about the theater is underwhelming, expensive and nothing special. The theater is inside the mall and concessions are expensive like always. You can reserve your seat online which is great but they do charge you a fee which sucks. The employees are the worst here. They are filled with teenage angst and don't give a damn about customer service-at least in the concession area. We walked up to the counter and because we were slightly standing in front of the other register which was completely empty we were told, "I can help you right HERE" as he pointed to a spot on the floor that was exactly where we needed to stand before we were helped. This was annoying because no one was behind us and we weren't even in the way but whatever. I don't go to the movies very often but next time I want to see a movie on a huge screen and eat buttery movie theater popcorn I'll be coming here just for the seats. read more

This is the second weekend in a row trying to go to this stupid theater and getting there only to find out the movie is sold out right in front of us. The only gave passengers 2 showings all day and seemingly it is always sold out maybe you should add some more times. I would gladly go to the other theater across town if it means actually getting to see a movie. read more

Always cheaper than the alternative and it feels pretty clean. We always choose here over the other theater.

Yesterday I wasn't able to make the movie I purchased on fandango. The app wouldn't refund my money or switch show times due to needing the change so close to the show time. Cinemark manager I believe, a very handsome, tall young man with great hair gave me and my boys 3 guest tickets to the next show. I felt very important and valued as a customer. read more

Upgraded loungers are amazing! If you're smart you reserve your seats a good amount of time before the showing. I much rather have this design then the normal uncomfortable seats that most theaters have. I also like that i can pick my seats before going and dont have to worry about getting there early for a good seat! Reserve your seat show up right as the movie starts and its perfect! read more

I haven't been here in years. I was excited to go and experience the new seating. Unfortunately what I didn't know was there was reserved seating and when we got there the only row left was the very first row. Sitting in this row, despite the reclining chairs, was very uncomfortable. It hurt my neck and my eyes to look up the whole movie. I am sure it would have been better had I not been sitting in the front row but since I was there on a job related outing the time was not up for changing nor the movie. read more

My parents took my daughter to watch how to train your dragon 2 and they were unaware that it was a 3D movie. They drove from Lebanon to go see it and to bond with their granddaughter whom they never get to see due to the fact that we live in Seattle. My parents came back extremely upset because not only did they have to pay full price for a 2 year old which was $8 due to being 3D, they did not accommodate her with the glasses that fit. If they're going to charge full price for a 2 year old, the least they could do is actually give her glasses that fit. I am an optician and I know that it can't be good for her eyes for her to watch two hours of double vision. The lady at the ticket booth was completely rude and gave my parents a hard time when they asked her a question about an advertisement they had seen somewhere. Horrible customer service and horribly thought out on accommodation. I doubt they will return. read more

We went to a movie this week. After sitting through 30 minutes of advertisements the movie we paid to see finally came on. I feel this completely ridiculous and that you should only have to sit through 10 minutes or less of advertisements prior to the movie. We won't be back. read more

These new chairs are so comfortable. They are big and roomy, the arm rest has room the stranger next to you, there is a foot rest. What more could one ask for? Cheaper popcorn and soda. The reserved seating can make a spontaneous trip with the kids difficult. read more

Ran late to a 10:40pm showing and they locked the building up wouldn't let any of our friends out. Not even to use the bathroom or let us in. So I wasted $15 for two people for the movie. read more

After over 30 minutes of ads and numerous trailers (that were R as well as PG 13) I was almost too traumatized to watch the movie I had come to see--Star Trek Beyond. Even after the movie had ended I was upset by the horrible, and violent content of the trailers. I don't appreciate having to sit through so many apocalyptic movie trailers. It wasn't thrilling just upsetting and terrifying. Even the 'heros' of the movie trailers shown were portrayed as nasty and vengeful. Guns, guns, guns. This is not the kind of imagery I want to see given the world we live in today. read more

Man this used to by my favorite theater, hands down. After waiting forever for them to finish the remodel, I finally went to try out the new reserved seating to see Logan. I was skeptical about the reserved seating, but was willing to give it a try. If you plan ahead there are really no issues getting your tickets & you don't have to stand in line. But that is where the convenience ends. The aisles are wide & the seats are large & plush, however they are made for a tall man. At 5'4'' in 1" heels my feet didn't even touch the floor - as an adult that's an issue for me. Even if the seats are bigger, the theaters are sooo much smaller, you have absolutely no chance of not sitting right next to someone. And this is where it really went south. A perfectly groomed teenage girl came in and sat right next to me & I smelled a waft of urine as she sat down. I was sure it was my imagination, but no, for nearly 3 hours I set next to someone who didn't just slightly smell of urine, but who smelled like they had urinated on themselves. Just as the movie started, the seat on the other side of me was filled by a man who smelled like he had garlic stuffed in every empty pocket. Get up & move you say? Nope, no empty seats - all reserved. I realize Cinemark isn't responsible for the grooming of its patrons, but with reserved seating you are trapped next to whatever nightmare shows up. read more
