One of the nicest movie theaters of this size that I have been to! Normally cinemas of this size I have been to are rundown and need their screens fixed, but this one stands out to me for being very well maintained. I wanted to see Detective Pikachu while visiting the coast and the times here worked best for me and my boyfriend. The theater itself was small but comfortable, clean and thankfully not crowded when we went. We could hear a little bit of the movie next to us, but not enough to interfere with enjoying the movie we were seeing. I don't remember the prices exactly but I do remember making a comment about it seeming more affordable than normal, and we got 2 tickets, popcorn and a drink (all were delicious btw). We didn't get any, but it's always nice to know a place has some adult beverage options as well. Overall I really enjoyed this theater and I'd come again if something was playing that I wanted to see when I was back in the area! read more

We just moved to town last May, and thought this tiny theater would really suck and have only children's movies for some reason. It doesn't. This place is amazing. I adore the people that work here, they redo fresh popcorn all the time and have SUCH a spectrum of seasonings! Our little, local entertainment center has made a name for itself!! It used to be a typical small local movie house!! That was barely holding on!! It closed, then purchased by some people with a vision of what this little local movie house could be!! With a dream and little cash behind them; they opened, remodeled upgraded the projection equipment and popcorn machine. But .... They weren't done yet!! After they survived the COVID-19 pandemic they did their final and badly needed remodel!! They removed and updated the movie seat's!!! Wider, more comfortable and with tables in front of each row, for holding your favorite movie snacks while you sit back and enjoy your movie!! Me and my family went here for fun and it wasn't good, the service was good but the popcorn had no butter it was just oil on it, it tastes like oil and it's super bad, the drink didn't taste good we got a large popcorn but if you go any where else it's the size of a small, the drink tasted old and not fresh at all, they have the movie so loud that it hurts our ears and it's way to loud, the seats are super uncomfortable, in the woman's bathroom one of the sinks were fully broken the toilets would barley flush and there was a old popcorn machine in the big stall covered up with a blanket, i will not be going here again. read more

Love how they've remodeled and placed tables between rows both for social distancing and to give a convenient place for your food and drink. Makes it feel more like an experience rather than just cramming more people in. The check in process was a bit tedious with tickets and food seemingly in the same line. Was a great idea to use one of the theaters for live theater except the noise from one of the movies playing was a bit distracting. Overall I'd say we are lucky this cinema has survived through the epidemic and we can still enjoy this venue for entertainment in our coastal community! read more

Talk about a stand up cinema! The movies are a class act, not the typical bang bang shoot em up stuff here. The films are artsy/political/thought provoking/fun. I think I've met the owners if they work the counter and they are also top notch of course. Very community oriented also as they have special events here as well as fundraisers. I cannot tell you the usuals because they don't have. They've got better than usual. Your popcorn is real and so are the toppings you can add yourself, not to mention the butter. My favorite part is the wine and beer you can purchase and bring to your seat. And there are quite a few choices for beers. The wine choices are 2 but they are good ones. You can have an Oregon pinot noir (YAY for me) or a pinot gris. They do not use tacky plastic cups! Hard to enjoy a wine from a plastic cup in my personal opinion. I mean the bouquet for starters? HAHA Finally, there is no sign of being ripped off here. My late afternoon ticket was $6.00. Oh, and just as important, my red wine? $6.00!! And that's over there right by the glass cases, you know the ones that are at the regular theaters where you can take out loans for candy? No candy here. Big deal. I'm all in with the wonderful movies, a little popcorn and a glass of vino. Just like home but with a little extra company! read more

We decided to go to a movie while on a road trip from California. They have decent prices for films and concessions. The lobby is charming with all the old photos, couches, and movie related books strewn about. However the theater itself is very small. No stadium seating here. Some seats had broken armrests. I'm assuming people wanted to raise them and found they don't move so they broken them instead. Before our movie started the theater was completely silent. The screen had a slide show of local businesses and we could here the adjacent theaters sound. Once our show started the sound from other theater was almost unnoticed. The theater looked like no one had bothered to clean it from the previous show. There were cups on the ground and in holders as well as popcorn and wrappers all over the floor. read more

Really terrific smaller multiplex with a great mix of shooters, scary films and other popular schlock to keep the lights on and small, smart films for grownups to provoke thought and conversation. The place is kept very clean, the prices on tickets and concessions are very reasonable and the staff is unfailingly friendly. I travel down here at least once a month and usually more often than that to see cool, independent films that I'd otherwise have to travel much farther to see. Not only am I a big fan of the place, I'm also a supporting member. One of the many reasons why living on the Oregon coast is such a pleasure. Small, smartly run and locally owned businesses like this get the support from the community they need to keep the doors open. Keep up the good work, guys! read more

Movie theater in a small town is an absolute must. Since the new owners have taken over, it is one of the gems of Florence. It is very clean and beautiful inside with new releases and artsy films, for people that are into that. They also serve beer and wine plus the prices are very very reasonable. As for most older theaters the seats are a little hard so on longer films your rump will start to feel it. Overall a great place at a great price for a night out. read more

We hadn't been to the City Lights Cinemas for a couple years, partly due to covid restrictions. We finally went to see the Lost City and we were pleasantly surprised. The seating had totally been replaced with more space between the seats and tables interspersed among the seats. It was easier to walk the aisles. Love the new theater re-do here in Florence. The customer service needs a little help, the girl that we bought our tickets from told us that we would have to wait until she cleaned the theater. Well she cleaned the theater and just came out and went to the counter. She didn't really let us know it was ok to go in. So we just went in assuming it was ok to go in and wait for the movie to start. I love loved the Marilyn Monroe photos they have there. They were gorgeous. They only have 3 theaters, and while you wait for your movie to start you hear the other two movies going on. So the walls are a little thin but it doesn't interfere with your movie that you are watching. It was just my Husband and I until about 5 min. until the movie started and a elderly lady came in and asked us if we thought we were gonna be alone. We laughed and told her we are from CA and it's rare that we have it to ourselves. Her and her husband joined us and a couple and their friend and their son came too. So there was 8 of us total on a Mon night about 7:15. Nice small town feel. I would definitely come back since this is the only theater here in Florence. But it is cheaper to rent your movies from 3-2-1 Video. $3.50 for 7 nights and it was $9 a person here. LOL Owell read more

My family and I went to the movies in Florence last night went on a weekend vacation visiting my parents. What a great cinema! it has wonderful staff, free refills on the popcorn and drinks, the popcorn was great by the way with lots of fun toppings. The seating was a little bit tight but the theaters themselves were cozy and nicely done. We enjoyed it and will definitely go back to that cinema when visiting my parents next time! read more

These folks have worked very hard to bring great films to Florence. Their refurbishment of the old Florence theater is nothing short of amazing. It's now a cinema with a touch of class - more a cultural arts center. They are bringing great films to a small community and keeping prices reasonable. We are so lucky to have this gem of a movie house in Florence. They serve wine and beer and great chocolate.The atmosphere is nice.mthe owner has done a wonderful job. They have a food truck evey Friday night outside if you go at dinner time and they let you bring the food in to watch the movie. I feel ridiculously lucky to have a theater in this tiny town that does as many wonderful things as this one does. They are constantly improving the theater, which had fallen into severe disrepair. They do musical and cinephile events routinely, they show ballet and opera and theatre productions, they show art house films AND blockbusters, and they go out of their way to make the experience an absolute pleasure. Then when we gave him the gift card we had he was in a bad mood with us because he had to go online to use it which took a total of a minute longer than normal. Great little theater. It's the only one in town but really has a good feel. You know the owners really care about what they are doing with this venue. It's a perfect fit for the town. Not a chain type like Regal or AMC, and not a little old rundown building that owners don't care about 'cause they are the only game in town. Just the right size and done well. We joined the club and go as often as we can. Always get a large popcorn and drink, sometimes a candy bar or some other type of snack. When folks put in the work and spend the money to bring something this good to Florence it needs to be supported. City Lights has earned my support. read more
