Great movie theater! I grew up going to it. Renewed and updated. Sadly the movies don't last long though

We decided to start our holiday weekend off with a movie at 10 am on a Saturday before Christmas on Monday. The parking lot had only a handful of vehicles so parking was super easy. Since we had planned to eat lunch out after the movie we skipped the refreshments today. We came to see "The Boy and the Heron" from Studio Ghibli. If you are unfamiliar with Studio Ghibli, they produce high quality Japanese animation full length feature films dubbed in English with A list actors such as Christian Bale (he starred in Howl's Moving Castle, a huge hit of theirs) in today's feature along with Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Willem Dafoe, Mark Hamill, and Robert Pattison. Studio Ghibli hasn't made much lately so it was nice to see their return with another good one. "The Red Turtle" (2016) is another good one of theirs that's been on cable channels lately. Coming out of the theater I noticed there were very few people so I guess people are still getting their last minute Christmas shopping done. read more

I have not been to a movie theater in years. This was a nice experience. There is tons of parking available in its lot. The theater does not look like much on the outside, but it is totally renovated on the inside. The ticket booth was not open when I was there, but that was cool I just went to the self-serve kiosk inside and purchased my tickets. I was going to purchase my tickets online, but they charge a $1.75 fee per ticket and I am cheap. When you do purchase your tickets, you also choose your seat, which I am a fan of. The concession stand has you typical candy and popcorn. There is also pizza and pretzels. They have self serve drinks machines and they also have booze. You can purchase beer, wine, or frozen margaritas. If you are into your movie and don't want to leave, you can order concessions to be delivered directly to your seat for an additional fee. Off to the back of the concession area and next to the restroom is a very small arcade. The staff there is very nice and helpful. The theater is pretty nice. They were very clean and have stadium recliner seating. There is a lot of space between the recliners and there was no bad seats in there. The recliner have heat and are pretty comfortable. They theater itself was comfortable, not too hot and not too cold, just right. This was a nice return to the theater and a decent place in Greenwood to catch a flick. I recommend turning off the TV for a few hours and checking out this place. read more

Went to a movie for date night at Cinemark greenwood corner and I kept getting bitten by bedbugs. After the movie ended .there were raised bumps all over my under arm. We told the manager ( redhead kid couldn't be old enough to drink yet) asked the seats.went and checked himself and came back and said he saw nothing.gone for maybe 90 seconds.Well look at my arm! There's proof. We drove home. Went in the bathroom. Both stripped and put our clothes in bags. Showered. Don't go there! The ticket prices aren't worth getting bedbugs! We went to see Regretting You. This was my first time at this theater and I was blown away. It was much larger inside than I thought it would be. The staff was so friendly and helpful. There was plenty of seating. The seats were comfortable and the thing that topped it was they were heated. I will definitely be back. read more

I've been sleeping on this theater! My brother recently discovered it and kept talking it up. It really is great. I used to come here years ago when it was a dollar theater but they've done a full renovation since then. Right when you walk up they have the box office outside. I didn't even realize until I saw it but you don't really see that anymore. Then you walk straight into the concessions area. They have all the typical movie theater foods and they're even a little cheaper than other theaters. There's a small bar as well at the end of the counter. You can order snacks ahead when you purchase your tickets online and pick them up at the counter. Or you can get delivery directly to your seat through the app as well. It does cost an additional $2 for to-your-seat delivery which is definitely worth it in my book. There's a small arcade in the lobby as well. The actual theaters are a little smaller overall but it was kinda nice. It's been years since I've even been in a full theater anyway, so they don't need a million seats. It felt more homey. They are not joking when they say luxury recliners. They lounge really far back and you have the option to turn on heated seats. I wasn't sure at first but it warmed up my lower back so it was extremely relaxing. Everybody was really friendly and it was a great experience. I am excited to go back for the next movie. read more

Quite an improvement from the older Movies 8 days! The theater now has much of the amenities viewers would find in other major chains. Leather recliners, adult beverages, and updated audio & video are now featured. One unique feature is heating on the seats, something I don't think I've seen with other theaters. Although the days of discounted movie viewing are missed, it's refreshing to see the once grimy locale get a much needed update. read more

We don't see a lot of movies anymore with little ones in the house, but we rolled the dice on a kid-friendly movie and we will certainly be back. We bought tickets online and checked in at the kiosk (admittedly it took me a minute to figure out that's what you're supposed to do, not just show them your phone -- save yourself the embarrassment with this tip.) The lobby area is small but has a lot of options at the concession stand. The theater itself is very nice. Updated seats with recline and heat, but the longer, flatter auditorium and not stadium seating. Didn't really affect my experience, just maybe something to know coming in if that matters to you. Really excellent experience overall and it seems like a lot of people are sleeping on this location. read more

Was able to get our drinks quickly and get in to see the movie with time to spare. Absolutely loved the comfortable lounge seats too!

This once was a fantastic place to see movies once they left the regular theater on a smaller budget. I went there all the time. Like several times a week. It was converted into a regular theater a few years ago and it is not a very nice one a full price place so I haven't been back read more

The movie we watched was phenomenal. We got there and it was slow traffic. We got in line for concessions and the person at the register kind of just looked so bothered to help us. It wasn't the best first impression of their staff. But the person who check us in for our theater was super kind. The lounge chairs were comfortable and always the way to go when watching a movie in the theater. I noticed there was a tear in our movie screen which my eyes kept being drawn towards. We also kept hearing the movie next to us which very distracting. Personally, I go to theaters to have an elevated experience. Unfortunately, I did not feel that here. read more

I'm a bit of a movie theater snob, and this one does not disappoint. I'm always freezing in movie theaters, so knowing that every single seat is a recliner with heated seats in important to me. I also find the ticket prices to be pretty reasonable and you can save a little bit by joining the movie club. They also have cheaper matinees and way cheaper tickets on Tuesdays so be strategic when choosing when to use your movie credits. The refreshments are pretty much what you would expect, although I like the addition of some ice cream bars and slushy machines. The buttery topping dispensers are available to anyone, you don't have to pay extra. The candy selection is pretty typical, but perfectly acceptable. My only knock would be the smallish screens, but that never bothers me once the movie has started. read more

I took my boys to the newly renovated theater on A Monday we didn't have school. We usually frequent Regal or AMC. Cinemark was the only one that had a matinee with a cheaper ticket price. It was $6 plus fees on Fandango. We got there about 11 for our 11:30 movie. The lobby was much smaller than our usual theaters, but it wasn't very crowded. We got our movie snacks. They have a snack pack for kids and they have small bags for you to split up larger sizes of popcorn. The seats are spacious, and the heated seat was great! We had a wonderful time. read more

This was my first time coming to this theater. We went on Saturday morning for the MI7 movie. Staff were helpful and super friendly. Popcorn was 10/10. The price was decent and seats were comfortable! I was surprised to walk in from the back of the theater and to see the handicapped seats in the back with handicap companion seats. Walking in looks like your average theatre with a ticket collector, concession area, arcade, etc, but it is the customer service and upbeat staff that make "all" the difference!! The concession area not only has fountain drinks, popcorn, candyy, warm pretzels, but alcoholic beverages for those over 21 that would like one. VIP!!!! You enter the theatre room to find a seat, but you find a slice of heaven!! Every seat in the cinema is a luxury recliner with the option of heated seats! #winning. Nothing like being able to relax and enjoy your show in style. I especially like the top row of chair have been made handicap accessible for those with mobility issues. Drink to much pop?? Not a public restroom fan?? The bathroom is very clean and checked on a routine basis. Newly renovated - now shows first run movies at slightly discounted prices. The afternoon we went, $8 a ticket for matinee, while Regal down the street was 11.99 at the same time. Comfy new lounger seats (they heat up!), renovated restrooms and concession area, cheaper tix - I'm a happy girl and I'll check here more often. My only concern- I'm a safety girl and I'm Not happy the exit sign in our theater wasn't lit. read more

The updates to this movie theater are great but I'm a sucker for the old style it had. I grew up coming to this theater so it had a lot of nostalgia for me. I wish they could have incorporated some of the old style with the new updates. All that being said the place has so much more to offer now. They play first run movies now and offer so many more concessions than before. You still order your tickets outside. I was surprised to see them keep a little arcade area. The recliners in the theater are very comfy and have heating/ cooling element. There is room to walk past once fully recliner which is always a plus. I typically go to AMC for movies but I will continue to come here every once in awhile as it holds a lot of special memories for me. read more

This was an affordable place to go when in college. At that time, the floors were questionable. 15 years later, the place feels a whole lot better and still allows for our family to see a movie on the big screen. Much better than renting the movie and watching at home! read more

From the recliners with heated and cooling seats to the drink station that had an endless supply of slushy and sodas... This theater is a winner. It's smaller size isn't noticeable in the room theater with aisles so wide it doesn't matter if someone gets up mid show, it's not a shuffle like a some places still. Its great. And for those that partake, they have a bar that has "special" slushies, of the adult variety! There's also a little game room for the kids too! And the interior is fresh and clean... Love that! Only drawback was that during quitter parts of the movie you could hear the other movie next door, but I'm nitpicking with this point. I enjoy this theater and will come again. read more

So many great things to say about the updated Movies 8!!!! First the concessions are cheaper than other theaters. Love that! They have frozen rum & cokes and frozen margaritas. They also have non-alcoholic slurpees. 5:40 PM Friday night movie ticket is $8. Great deal. Heated seats!!!!!!!!! And love how the lounge seats are set up because they leean so far back, I don't think there's a bad seat in the house! Purchased our tickets through their app. Super easy. Was able to book and reservee seat at no additional charge. We will be coming back frequently!! read more

Great place! The theaters aren't huge (which I like!) They have great seats that are heated and recline! (Awesome right??) The food options are great, not just candy or popcorn! They have pizza selections and nachos. Also really enjoyed the drink kiosk machine things that have like 100 options!! They also serve beer. Not just your run of the mill domestics either, they had a few nice local ideas on tap. No crackling through the speakers or anything. Overall awesome theater! read more

Wow, this theatre was recently renovated and upgraded to what can only be described as your own LaZBoy seat. Seriously, every seat is a leather recliner with electric controls complete with heated seats! Amazingly comfortable. But unlike airplane seat reclining you won't interfere with your neighbor to the rear -- the leg room is extra extra wide so there's no issues. Just be careful, it's so relaxing you may fall asleep. read more

My family and I went to see a movie here earlier today since we haven't been here since it's been updated. For the most part it's not too bad but I'd still pay a few more dollars to go to the other theater. First off, we got to the ticket booth, which they still make you stand outside?!?! It wasn't terrible out but when the wind picked up with a bit of a chill it's really stupid they make you stand outside?! So after standing outside for about 10-15 mins I'm line my son walked in and realized they had a machine on the wall that you can purchase your tickets. The inside looks nice, but one big downside is those crappy drink machines, nothing that comes out of those freestyle drink machines ever taste like the drink is supposed to! They have Pizza Hut pizza and a big Hershey chocolate chip cookie and other movie theater treats. They have a bar, a smaller game area, nice restrooms and that's about it. The theater itself have nice electric recliners with buttons to have it recline and also a button for heat, which was just ok, nothing to brag about. My one huge problem with the movie screen is that it's not as big as the other theaters?!? Why would they not get bigger screens when your paying more than when they were Movies 8?!?! That's a bit of a problem, paying more for the same screens they've always had?!?! Long story short, this theater isn't terrible, but I believe I'll stick with the other theater especially when they also have more selection of movies to select through! read more

Ummm, since when does a "dollar" movie cost $6.25 on discount Tuesday. So, why is this coming up as a dollar movie, not that they charged $1 before the pandemic. But it was only $2 on Tuesdays. So this should come up with the normal listings of theaters, not as any dollar movie. read more

Decent place to catch second run movies and some foreign flicks mostly bollywood fair. Tickets have been creeping up so calling it a dollar movie is akin to shopping at dollar general, it ain't a dollar anymore. Concession prices are comparable, I don't eat much of that stuff but am usually with the kid so they get me anyways. Place is dated, seating is old school auditorium style, slightly cramped, sound quality is sketchy but not a deal killer. For what you pay I really can't complain, if you have a large group you'll come out way ahead. If you can wait a few weeks/months for second run flicks I think it's more than fair. read more

Just visited again today to take our girls to the LEGO Batman movie. It used to be a true dollar theatre, but tickets are $3 now. Still worth waiting a few months to catch a movie on the cheap. The place isn't going to win industry awards anytime soon, but they do keep it pretty clean for a discount theatre. Signs say no outside food or drink, but we always bring our own. My daughter carried in a Gatorade bottle today with no problems. Food tip: there is a Fresh Thyme grocery directly across US 31 from the theatre. They sell several different candies, nuts and snacks in bulk. We always get our movie snacks there. A few ounces of a few different goodies. read more

I like this place a lot. Could be the prices that draw me. Although their concessions are about equivalent to a regular theater. But, hey, they gotta pay the bills somehow. I think the thing I like most is the old fashioned theaters. Don't get me wrong, I love the stadium seating of the newer theaters. But the old seating reminds me of going to the movies as a kid. Like I said, they draw you with nearly free movies, and make their money back with concessions. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just be aware, especially if to take a bunch of kids like we did. Overall this is a great activity, especially for a family. And plenty of other things to do in the neighborhood. read more

Although this theater shows second run films, they have somehow managed to keep the place in good shape and are an affordable option for anyone who wants the big screen experience without going broke. I recently returned to catch a film I missed during the avalanche of movies released trying to be considered for Oscar nominations. The check in process was easy and the common areas appeared clean. The actual theater was huge with two aisles splitting the seating into three areas. I grabbed a seat closer to the front to get the "big picture" effect and was able to pick any seat I wished. The picture and sound quality were okay. Not the best, but good enough to be enjoyed. The seating was the old fashioned kind that you sit in...not recline/nap in. They appeared to have a variety of concession items and a few activities in a game room just off the lobby. My only real negative is that the hallways outside the theater are quite dark. Even a my noon time viewing, it felt like walking down a darkened city street. A few simple lighting modifications could make the area much more inviting. Review #491 read more

First I want to thank Niki and the Theatre people for putting all of this together and allowing us to come. Just coming to the theatre is a real treat let alone the popcorn and the drink.My husband and I haven't been to the theater for 7 yrs. The lobby looks so nice and I was totally impressed with all of the drink choices. Again I just want to thank everyone involved in making this party GREAT! The seats were so comfortable we were out of this world-so to speak leaning back and our feet up. It just couldn't have been better. It just makes me want to YELP!! Something very important I want to mention is that this theater is very handicapped friendly. I am in a Powerchair and so often have difficulties getting into the ladies restroom. Many times I have to leave the stall door open because it is so small, but that is not the case at the theater!! It was also such a pleasure to get out of my chair and sit in a wonderful relaxing recliner to watch the movie. If you are in a Power chair , a wheelchair, use a walker, this theater is made for you. Gets the job done. Pretty old and a little grimy, but I can't complain too much for the $2.75 that I paid to attend last night's movie. I'm a little scared to try the concessions since the popcorn machine looks like it could use a good scrub. However, I'm willing to stick to some floors and use some outdated bathrooms in exchange for catching a movie before it goes out of theaters forever. read more

The thing I like about Movies 8 is the same thing I hate about other theaters; it's cheap. I could easily drop $50 at other movie theaters or wait a few months and drop half that here. Here's the rub, though, you get what you pay for. I find the furnishings to be dated, the floors are sticky, and the bathrooms are always on the other side of clean. If you have kids and want to take them to a movie, this is probably the right place to go. I can't imagine a family being able to afford the other theaters. But, be warned that you don't get the same fancy theater that you get when you pay double the price. read more

My wife and I love this place! Sure, you might have to wait a while for a movie that just came out in theaters to come here, but it's well worth it! The prices are so cheap, that it doesn't make sense to go to high priced theaters. I don't see the purpose of spending a lot of money just to see a movie as soon as it hits theaters. Movies 8 prices on their concessions might be the same as other movie theaters, but it's a lot more bearable when you only have to pay a couple of dollars to watch the movie. They improved the theater a lot, when they changed out the old seats for new ones. The old seats were very uncomfortable. This place is a must if you like to save money! read more

It is a dollar movie theater so it is what you expect. I will say it is one of the few dollar movie theaters that is clean. That alone bumps my rating from a 3 to a 4. I do like they have soda and popcorn containers you can buy and bring back your next visit and pay a lower refill price. It is well worth it. I like going to see movies that I'm so so about seeing. If your seeing a kids movie get there early. If you don't and you have a larger family it might be hard to all sit together or in same row. read more
