A year later update, this AMC is one of the cleaner movie theaters I've been to, we still have the AMC A-list that allow you to watch 4 movies a week in any format for the price of 1 and a half regular cost We occasionally get some snacks, like popcorn, soda or ice cream, they do have a variety of food Some of the staffs are now familiar to us and vice versa, which makes them friendlier and nicer. Cannot complain here about other movie goers cause that's not on the theater itself but sometimes you get some people that thinks they're at home read more

I really liked the seats in this theater! They are leather reclining seats and the rows are well lit. I did not get food due to my diet. I ordered tickets online and for some odd reason I could not find them in my email. However, the box office was able to print my ticket using the card I used for the purchase in under a minute. Typical multi-screen theater that prefers you to become a member to offer various perks. Thanks, but no thanks. This is not my part of town to be able to take advantage of said membership. I was just killing time while the granddaughter and her friend skated nearby. Matinee ticket price were three dollars higher than where I normally go. Same for refreshments, higher prices. Bathroom was clean though. They offer reclining seats which was nice. read more

I really enjoyed going to this theater, especially since there is now only one AMC in Bloomington. The only problem with this location was that the lobby seemed to not have enough ventilation for the amount of popcorn produced within the space. There was a tangible cloud of smoke up to the ~30 ft ceiling and a pretty heavy oil smell. The popcorn was good, though, and the theater screen and seats were perfect. Came to a 4pm show on a Tuesday and had no complaints. Theater was clean. The lines for refreshments moved quickly. The seats recline and are comfortable. We picked a room with interactive sound as well which was nice as the seats vibrated during action scenes. Also found out that Tuesdays are deal days! We got a slushee and popcorn for $5 and tickets are as low as $7. read more

My normal theater wasn't showing the rerelease of Kill Bill, much to my dismay. But! my My girlfriend comes to the rescue by finding this theater. I've never been a big fan of amc theaters,I find them far too flashy and too expensive. I was a bit surprised by how out of the way this theater was but once we were inside I could understand the appeal. The lobby was well lit and and immaculately clean! Everyone one on staff we interacted with was kind and prompt. In our screening room the chairs rocked (this was my girlfriend's favorite part) And were spacious. This wasa great experience for a fantastic movie. Given the distance...i doubt I'll make this my regular theater, though I by no means would be opposed to coming back. read more

I don't know how to put my finger on it, but there's just something "off" about the experience here. Maybe it's the lack of human interaction -- you buy your tickets online or at a kiosk, the person scans your QR code and points which way your theater is, and that can be your only interaction with a human in the whole trip. I'm not big on crowds so I like that it hasn't ever been crowded, even in the main concession area... But it's also a little depressing. Especially this part of town, there just isn't much going on over here--even coming in the parking lot, it feels quiet or abandoned. There is an area to buy movie-related goodies (my kids NEEDED a Dog Man plushie on our last trip) -- but you go to the concession stand line to check out, and can't really ask them questions without standing in the line. Maybe this is just how movie theater experiences are -- and maybe that's why I don't go -- but there's just something that didn't land right here. read more

Purchased tickets for Gladiator 2 in theater #16 which was pretty small, however, the seats were extremely comfortable and roomy. I really liked how the end seats were against a end wall for more privacy. Bought the large drink and the pretzel bites and they were excellent which comes with a cheese sauce and between 13-15 bites for around $8. read more

I have to admit, I am not a movies person. I can't even remember the last movie that I saw in theaters but I'm sure it was over 7 years ago. I will tell you one thing though we did not have these super comfortable seats. The seating at AMC has really come along way... but so have the prices. I am way too cheap to want to pay $20 for a popcorn and a soda again lol. We went early on a Saturday so the tickets were like $12 a piece, I think but then I spent $80 in snacks for 3 people. I'm still going to give this place five stars for the movies part because the seats were really comfortable. read more

We went to see Deadpool and this used to be our go to theater when we lived in the Southport area, but since moving to Greenwood, it's closer to go to the Regal instead. Had a gift card though for AMC, so we used it here and I must say this theater is badly in need of some TLC inside. Our reclining chairs were broken. Since you selected a seat beforehand, there was no switching beverage the seats around us were sold. The chairs are also not in great shape anymore with a lot of wear and lots of sticky from people's spilled drinks. Everything could use a good cleaning! The customer service was good, which is why I gave them 3 stars instead of 2. I had a coupon for a free small popcorn and it would not work, so the young man working gave me a free medium upgrade which was really nice of him. Operations were fine, but the place just looks dirty and dingy and it was not that long ago that they updated it. read more

This is my go to theater. I am an AMC stubs member so I am able to see 3 movies at week for only $20 a month. I visit this theater probably once every week. I usually arrive after the movie time to miss the commercials. I have a couple situations with the person scanning me in. I usually don't order popcorn and a drink but when I do I usually take advantage of the coke freestyle machine and icee machine. This is the best IMAX out of any of the other AMCs in the state. Comfortable reclining chairs! So many movie options including IMAX. Popcorn and icees are great. But if you want a drink, they have a bar which is really nice for a date night. They have tons of food options and are always welcoming even when they are really busy. I love that early afternoons and Tuesdays have discounted tickets. A great way to save some money. I have been a mom we of their frequent movie club. Stubs for a number of years and have saved a lot due to that. read more

I don't normally complain about our AMC 17 Theater however today was just an awful experience. We attended the 12 noon showing of "Oppenheimer". The Theater, measuring the temp on my mobile device, was 70 degrees. I'm pretty sure the film sound can be regulated by the projectionist as the music pretty much drowned out the dialog and the dialog had a ton of bass and was near impossible to make out the dialog between the two, music & bass. Maybe the speakers are old, I don't know. What I do know is, this was not a good experience. I'm not going to dissuade people from going to AMC 17 South however, I would very much like the management to get in contact with me about this. I have tried in vain to find a customer Service connection on the AMC website but cannot so, I am at a loss. read more

So excited to go back to the movies, I didn't realize how much I missed it. During the previews, there was a screen celebrating AMC's 100th year, 1920-2020. I really hope 2021 is a better year and that people start returning. We need movie theaters to stay! AMC made some pretty cool changes since the last time I was there. You can order you popcorn, drinks, and snacks online ahead of time and pick them up at the designated pick up spot, bypassing the line. You can also scan a QR code to fill your drink using your phone instead of touching the screen. Some locations actually deliver to your seat. This location doesn't have that yet but I'm excited that will someday be an option. If you're anything like me and decide you want more food but don't want to get up and miss the movie, it's worth it. This location is also great. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and it's always clean. read more

My husband and I love going to the movies, and we often come to this theater to see them. We especially like coming on Tuesdays when the tickets are $5. Online ordering is so convenient. You can buy your tickets through the app. You can also order your concessions, and they'll be waiting on you when you get there. This AMC has a bar and will have specialty cocktails for big movie releases. The theaters also have reclining seats, so they're nice and comfortable. IMAX, however, doesn't have reclining seats. But it's really about the experience, so it's not a big deal. The theaters are usually clean. The staff is typically friendly. My biggest complaint is how early the concession area closes. If you're seeing a late movie, you better not need anything during your movie. You'll be out of luck. Overall, though, this is a good place to catch a movie! read more

This is our go to movie theater. Love the reclining lounge chairs, the overall cleanliness, and the size of the place. They have a SEVENTEEN screens with one being an IMAX and one being a Dolby theater (better picture and sound). This place has all you will need. The star is lost for the prices. We have the monthly pass to see 3 movies a week which is a great deal because you can easily pay more than that for just one movie on a weekend. read more

This is a fun experience and we love being able to see movies at this location. It was a bit complicated when trying to pay with cash, but just note you have to go straight to a cashier and you can't use the machines to buy tickets unless using a gift card or credit. Our group was treated well and given great directions, and as usual the spot was clean and comfy. We love the added effort to make the pre-show time fun for everyone. The seats are great and gives you the ability to put your feet up which moves the movie to a full experience. We found the sound and overall show to be amazing and will be returning! read more

My kids went to see a movie and the staff made racial remarks and refused services to my black children. When my children attempted to record them, the staff intimidated my children with security staff to remove them. As I attempted to file a complaint with the manager Nora she stated that monkey isn't a racist statement. The manager hung up when I stated that their actions were inappropriate and would be reported to the attorney generals office. This saddens me that racism is acceptable. read more

The AMC Indianapolis 17 is a 17-screen theater located behind and slightly around the corner from Southern Plaza, an open-air strip center that has long served as the primary retail spot for Indy's near-southside. This theatre has a nice location right off the highway, though it can feel a bit isolated given its location off to itself in a corner and right across from a less than desirable self-car wash. If you know me, you know that I attend an awful lot of movies both personally and professionally. In fact, it has only been recently that I finally started reviewing most of the theaters because I know an awful lot of these folks on some level and don't want to hurt feelings for those theaters that are, let's be honest, a bit dumpier. This theater started life as a Kerasotes screen until Kerasotes sold most of their screens to AMC with the exception of a couple Indy area screens including the now Landmark in Glendale (one of the aforementioned "dumpier" screens). Every theater has a personality. If you go to movies a lot, you learn the personality of each movie house. This theater is a diehard working class theater. It has a southside feeling and when I've attended promo screenings here it's always an interesting experience. For the record, I actually like it. This theater has had the usual AMC upgrades and does offer IMAX screenings (not true IMAX, for the record but superior to regular screenings and complemented by upgraded Dolby sound systems). Features include the AMC Signature recliners (which I love and can usually get into even from my wheelchair), sensory friendly films, RealD 3D films, Open Captions at select screenings, rocking seats, discounts for military, and student/senior pricing. There's accessible seating in each theatre (though inconsistent compliance with honoring it), discount matinees (30% off each day before 4pm), assisted listening devices, audio description (hit-and-miss), reserved seating, mobile ordering of snacks, and surprisingly affordable theater rentals. As has been noted previously, the ticketing area can be a bit congested at times and this can cause unnecessary delays. This seems to especially play in during the big budget films like Marvel films, Star Wars films, etc. This theater always feels like a longer drive than it actually is. I work downtown and it's an easy drive from downtown. However, since it's just off the highway it's truly an easy drive from just about anywhere in Indy. Of the southside theaters, in particular, this is one of the best options and employees are consistently friendly and helpful. Like most places, they are currently dealing with the pandemic and staffing issues but I continue to enjoy my visits here. As we start to head back to theaters, I'm enjoying my return to AMC Indianapolis 17. read more

We saw the 11 a.m. showing of the Hunger Games in the IMAX. My ears are still hurting today. It was so loud you it was crackling. I shoved napkins in my ears and had to still hold my ears as it was so loud. Seriously.... I read another review on this thread regarding sound. Maybe you should investigate this before making all your patrons suffer hearing loss. read more

The theatre was filthy - floors and bathrooms both needed care. Popcorn was mostly small - less than half were full-sized kernels.

Gratefully, those days of rushing to the movie theaters to make sure you get a great seat are gone. This AMC is a monster of a movie theater and while some theaters are embracing the larger reclining seat format this place has yet moved to that format. Recently, I went to see a showing in the IMAX and while the screen was huge, the seats were not. I was trapped between two large men who could not help but taking their seat and part of mine as well. I know that's not the fault of the AMC, but next time I think I will be sure to purchase tickets to see a movie in one of the newer style places with the bigger seats and roomier arm rests. This AMC is one I've visited many times. I've never had a bad experience here. During the day time showings, which are when I like to go, you could have a theater room to yourself or close to it. But it gets busy here in the evenings and especially on Tuesdays when you can get $5 movie tickets. I do love that you can use the AMC app on your phone to book tickets and pick your seats in advance. Makes the process even smoother! The concession stand has a lot of options, even some semi-healthy snacks like chocolate covered gluten free bagged pretzels. They have the nice Coke machines where you can choose add ins like cherry, vanilla, orange, lime, lemon and grape. I like to get a vanilla ginger ale when I'm splurging for a beverage to go with my popcorn. Yum! The theaters themselves are pretty typical... mostly clean unless there was a particularly messy person in your area just before your showing. That's been rare for me to find, but it's happened. I do love that they have the reclining seats... it's probably ruined me for standard seats at movies now, to be honest. Ah well... I will say that it's been warm the last few times I've seen a movie... which goes against what I find typical in movie theaters-- needing a jacket. Not so here lately... I've been needing to shed a layer more than not! Anyway, this theater's my go to. No big complaints and plenty of movies watched within these walls! read more

And popcorn/drink AARP discount helps. Selecting seats a plus. Nice to recline back and get comfortable during a movie. And easy enough for people to cross in front without stepping on you! Very disappointed with my visit. We bought our tickets online and I couldn't log into the app to use rewards. In addition to that, there were only 2 rows of seats to select from and when we got to the theatre there was literally no one there. With this being said, it looked like they forgot to clean out the theatre between showings because there was popcorn spilled down a lot of aisles and on the seats as well as several empty drinks. I even found random hair accessories in the seats near us. The movie itself was very enjoyable, although I wish I didn't have to sit through 25 minutes of previews before the showing. Volume and picture quality were great. After the movie I used the restroom, and there was little to no toilet paper in many of the stall. (And this was at 5:00-not even prime time.) Will probably go to another AMC location or theatre chain in the future. read more

During my movie, I received a text message about a family emergency. I approached the manager to see if I could possibly return later the same day to finish my movie. The manager was so kind and understanding that she gave me an open date ticket to return anytime for any movie I wanted. This type of service is why I continue to watch movies at the theatre instead of on my tv. Thank you AMC. You guys are always great! read more

I see A LOT of movies (like 2-3 a week) and I really love this theater. It's always clean, the employees are friendly, and it's a nice theater overall. Lots of movies to choose from! I like how they show a lot of indie/ small films. Not a lot of movies theaters show those movies. I've only have one weird thing happen to me. During IT: Chapter 2, the screen kept doing black over and over again. After about 5 minutes they got it back up and running with no issues. I'd say for the amount of movies I see here, that's pretty good. I would recommend to everyone GET THE AMC APP. Buy the tickets ahead of time and pick your seats! As an AMC A-List member (monthly subscription to see 3 movies a week), part of my motivation to subscribing was the quality and convenience of this theater. They always have a ton of movie options, and also bring in AMC Artisan films that aren't released in most theaters. All of the theaters except for IMAX have the reclining seat option, and always relatively clean. Quick Tip - if you haven't signed up to be an AMC Stubs member (Free!), it's worth it to take advantage of the Discount Tuesday Tickets ($5) and their Cameo Combo they offer on Tuesday (Small drink and a small popcorn for $5!). initially came to the theatre for a private movie screening but stayed to see the Joker. for this theatre to not be near my home i certainly find myself here quite a bit. i think they should consider a remodel to their front area as there is always so much congestion when you first walk in because the ticket counter is RIGHT THERE. i like that this location offers alcoholic bevs. all the service i received was great! the food came out fast. everything tasted wonderful and was freshly made! the pretzel bites could have just been regular the cinnamon sugar flavor was underwhelming. the room i saw my movie in still had a bit of trash in it from the previous film read more

We did the theater buy out with 20 of our friends to see Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark at AMC Showplace 17. This is always such a great threader! It was so wonderful to be among friends and in a theater! Your whole group must arrive together and you receive your own theater! Masks remain on and you have the whole theater to spread out in! It was very clean and as soon as we left the crew came in and wiped down, spray sanitized and made it all clean for the next group. This was a very well done experience and it was so nice to feel a bit normal and enjoy a great throw back movie with my best friends! Concessions were open for drinks, popcorn and candy. And the McGuffin's bar was even open! It's always so great to enjoy a cocktail at this theater! Safe staff and distanced everywhere. Great experience! read more

Went to see Oppenheimer at their IMAX theater. VERY disappointed because we couldn't hear half the dialogue. They have the volume turned up so high and unbalanced that the background noise and sound track drown out what is being said. Our seats were actually vibrating from the sound for half the film. My date tore up a napkin to make earplugs. Given our tickets were $45 thru Fandango, we won't be going back to that IMAX theater again. I will go see the movie again just to hear what I missed. read more

We are so happy to back at AMC. This is our preferred location since they have 17 screens. They always have a lot of employees and the concession lines are never too long. The best part is now you can order in the app and pick up your items with minimal contact. You still need to get popcorn refills in line, but we have A-list and that line is usually not existent. This location is always very clean. They do a great job between movies. We spend most of our time in the Dolby theatre. It's really the best to see a movie, the sound is awesome. They also have an IMAX screen, it's the largest theatre. We do IMAX occasionally, but the seats are still the old style and once you go recliner it's hard to go back. read more
