Cinemark officially opened at the north end of the parking lot at the Mall at Rockingham Park, just in time for opening weekend of the latest Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker movie. This cinema offers 12 screens including one XD 3D theater and stadium style auditorium seating in each theater. The seating is reserved for most popular films and you can choose your seats online or at the theater on the self serve kiosks or at the ticket counter. The concession stand at the time of this review offered the basics including popcorn, candy, snacks, nachos, self serve Coke Freestyle fountain drinks and Icees. In 2020, they will offer hot prepared foods such as burgers, personal pizzas, chicken tenders, and hot wings. I stopped in after work at the new Cinemark to see the new Star Wars movie. I made it here before 4pm and got the $15 Matinee price for the XD 3D screening of Star Wars and provided 3D glasses upon entering the theater. The seating in the extreme digital theater was very nice with a huge curved screen (from ceiling to floor) and stadium style soft plush reclining seating complete with individual tray & drink holder, foot rest and heated temperature control of the seat. I was very comfortable reclined back, so comfortable that I almost fell asleep and had to recline my seat more upright. The movie wearing my 3D glasses and loud sound effects from their surround sound system felt very realistic. After the movie, upon exiting, the staff collected the 3D glasses and directed patrons to the short exit hallway with restrooms conveniently located to the right near the exit doors. Overall, Cinemark is now a great option for seeing the latest 3D digital movies in Salem, probably competing with AMC in Methuen, O'Neil Cinemas in Epping and Cinemagic Imax in Hooksett.

Better than AMC in every way. Huge screens with fancy clean seats that heats up. Snacks are cheaper with it being in New Hampshire.

Walking into the theater room I noticed the aisles were nice and wide. I love this because if you have to get up during the movie your not knocking people out of their seats as you squeeze by. Nobody loses their popcorn and beverages as you scoot by and it's easier to stay low and move quickly. Another great thing is the heated and reclining seats! Yes, heated!! They are so comfortable! Each seat has its own tray, too. Complete with a cup holder!! Our food was delivered just as the screen started up. The large popcorn and large drink combo was 12 dollars online with a 2 dollar delivery fee. My daughter didn't like her popcorn, though, as it was very dry. They definitely needed more butter. The bathrooms were very clean and the employees very friendly. I definitely would go back again.

It wasn't crowded, at all, so we thought of moving, but we couldn't find two seats together in good condition. To make matters worse, there was a long strand of some kind of cobweb or gunk from the ceiling toward the front left of the theater, which blew in the air circulating and caused a shadow on the screen while the movie played. It was so gross and distracting. Why would they let a theater be this gross when it's hard enough to get people into the theater to begin with? Very bad. Expensive and shameful.

After experiencing other theaters, I will say unless it is absolutely necessary, I will not be coming here again. You can sense the shift as soon as you walk in. It feels dirty, it was empty (I know it was a Thursday evening). I really wanted a drink and asked the bartender for a recommendation as I don't know drinks very well and like sweet things. She first suggested a hurricane, and about 4-5 minutes of trying to charge me for it, I guess the machine wasn't letting her indicate that drink so I had to switch to something else that probably cost me more, a Henny Colada. After lots of ice and $22 later, the drink was not worth it. We got popcorn, a drink and candy and it was $46. The theater itself, the seats are run down, they barely recline and they are very deteriorated. I would not go back.
