This used to be a very good theater and it is in a great location with so many restaurants in the same plaza. Unfortunately and overtime, they have not kept up with updating their seats. I recently visited because the movie that I wanted to see was not available at my preferred movie theater. My selected seat had some leftover popcorn and the floor in front of my seat was not very clean. I went here with my son after a really long run of not coming here, especially after they were closed down for a rodents issue. After experiencing other theaters, I will say unless it is absolutely necessary, I will not be coming here again. You can sense the shift as soon as you walk in. It feels dirty, it was empty (I know it was a Thursday evening). I really wanted a drink and asked the bartender for a recommendation as I don't know drinks very well and like sweet things. She first suggested a hurricane, and about 4-5 minutes of trying to charge me for it, I guess the machine wasn't letting her indicate that drink so I had to switch to something else that probably cost me more, a Henny Colada. After lots of ice and $22 later, the drink was not worth it. We got popcorn, a drink and candy and it was $46. I generally like AMC theaters-while movies and popcorn are expensive, you know what you are going to get. This theater though seems to have had every issue (rats have been reported and the place had to close at one point) and I think they dealt with a lot of them but the other day I went and I noticed a pretty major issue: A lot of the more popular seats are either busted or very old and barely working. We tend to sit further back, but this time we didn't...and it just seems like they don't maintain the seats! So let me get this straight, you charge $14 for a movie and $11 for a large popcorn and you can't maintain your theater? Went to the Dylan biopic recently, with some reluctance as this place had been recently closed down, after it was discovered they had a rodent problem. Well, soon after sitting in those comfortable full leather seats, I develop a terrible rash on my neck. I would have to assume, that there was a connection. Although theaters these days tend to be too loud, this was absolutely unacceptably loud. The two days leading up to my visit, I tried to get a real person on the phone to ask a question or two. They have nobody answering the phones at all. Not even the ability to leave a message and when I told a couple employees "you know, nobody answers the phone and the system is broken. It just hangs up on you and it's been that way for two days" they were totally disinterested. I have a feeling some more snooping should be done at that place, by the powers that be in that town. read more

I love this location because it's like a palace on the outside and so spacious inside. Also, I like seeing the displays for various upcoming movies. It's right next to Crumbl Cookie and Tropical Smoothie and in the same parking lot there is a Starbucks. It looks good from the outside and when you go in there's usually no line at the large double concession stand. The popcorn is usually good but the carmel version is awful. The water could be colder. The seats are a little dated but comfortable. They clean the floor a lot so it's not a sticky mess like a lot of theatres. No rodents either. The movies are clear and the sound is great. The bathrooms are super clean and modern. They even have those Dyson hand dryers. If you're hungry after the show there is a Jersey Mikes and if it ever opens a Raising Canes chicken shack. read more

I had a very disturbing situation that took place at this theater on 5/23/25. I took my child to see Lilo and Stitch the day it came out with a friend and her child as well. For reference my son is 4 years old and her child is 3 years old. What happened to us during that film was inexcusable and caused significant emotional distress on both us and our children. A few minutes into the movie a young adult male sitting next to me (who i was not there with) got up from his seat, when he sat back down he rudely said to me "if you don't get them to stop talking your going to get kicked out". I was very taken aback, and suddenly I see behind me a male worker who comes to the back of the seat my 4 year old child is sitting in and waves his finger in our face while saying "You guys need to stop talking right now or you will be kicked out!". My 4 year old son got so scared I had to rub his leg to comfort him, i quietly leaned over and asked him if he was okay and he shook his head no. A few minutes later my son asked me to go to the bathroom because he was so scared to say anything to me in the theater. I took him to the bathroom and reassured him he didn't do anything wrong, he asked me why he was yelled at. When we got back to our seats my son and I sat quietly watching the movie. My friends daughter who is 3 years old and her first time going to a movie theater was excited to see Stitch on screen saying things like "look mommy stitch". Let me make it clear that our children were sitting in their seats, they were not running around, they were not yelling/screaming, or being disruptive. They/we were not having conversations with each other, we were simply sitting there enjoying the movie as were our children, as Lilo and Stitch is a movie for children. I suddenly see the same adult male next to me get up and come back after a few minutes. As he came back we were met with multiple adult male movie theater workers being very hostile and yelling at us that we need to leave, one of which named Dave even pointed a flashlight in my friends 3 year olds eyes. They threatened to call the cops, and actually did bring in a security guard who pretended to be a cop which even more so scared my friends daughter. I want to add that I am 40 weeks pregnant and my friend is 36 weeks pregnant, and the theater crew thought it was appropriate to send in 4 hostile, rude male adults to deal with this situation. This was actually supposed to be one last fun things I brought my son to do just him and I before giving birth to his baby brother and instead turned into my son being scared and asking me to go home. When I left the theater I was in tears and completely shocked about how the situation unfolded. I went to customer service in tears to ask to be refunded. When I spoke to the lady she immediately accused my child of running around the theater with an Ipad, I immediately asked her what she was talking about, my child had not left his seat and did not have any ipad. She apologized and she she must have us mixed up with another group. The same hostile man in the theater met us at customer service and proceeded to make more claims about our children, saying that when he entered the theater to kick us out we were all talking and that they were standing up on the seats, another lie a grown man was making about a 3 year old and a 4 year old. I asked the assistant manager who I was speaking to at the desk to pull the cameras in the theater and look at the footage, because I will not tolerate someone belittling and lying about my child who was sitting quietly watching a movie in a seat that I paid for him to be in. If the footage on those cameras in that theater were reviewed i'm sure everyone would be apologizing to us. Instead they were not and we were accused of things that were just not true. The assistant manager ended up being apologetic and gave me and my friend tickets to come back to the theater. Although, neither of us feel comfortable to ever go back to an AMC theater, ESPECIALLY with our children. I would like the male employees who felt like it was appropriate to use unnecessary force to be trained on how to handle these situations in the future, as I do not want anyone else's children to have to feel the way our children felt last night. I am still extremely disturbed and emotionally distraught from this whole situation, as is my friend who wants to file a police report with the town for impersonating a cop and emotional distress. read more

I went here last week to see an IMAX movie feeling a little iffy considering the rating. They're old so here's the scoop. They have a good amount of movie theater food options. Yes, the popcorn was a bit stale at 10am but that's a you problem if you don't like it that way. The place was very clean and looks like a place I wouldn't be embarrassed taking Lena Dunham to. The IMAX room was very comfortable and made me as if I wasn't just some schlub rolling in watching something about someone who managed the atomic bomb project. The Staff was friendly and they have those Dyson hand dryers in the bathroom. People comin' here thinking Methuen is Abu Dhabi or something. P.S. - They also got a full bar. read more

I have been coming here before it was AMC. I was thrilled when they changed over the seating to recliners and the concession stand was improved. Unfortunately now it is starting to show wear and tear. The seats are usually packed with popcorn or candy from prior patrons and the seat covers need to be refurbished. I don't go to the movie theater very often, but when I do it's usually this one just because the location is the most convenient for me. My experiences haven't been as bad as some of the other reviews here. I have not seen rodents (and I hope I never do), the employees were nice enough, and the cleanliness was about what I would expect for a movie theater. Pretty average overall. So why the two stars? The concession prices are INSANE. A bottle of water costs $5+ and fountain drinks cost even more. The popcorn and food is just as overpriced. There is a bar and you can bring your drink into the theater which is pretty cool as I had never seen this at any other movie theater chain. Too bad the drinks are overpriced and not very good. More than once I've made the mistake of ordering a mojito, and they put way too much lime juice in it so the drink is super tart. Not worth the $12+ at all. So if you want to get an alcoholic beverage I suggest going with beer or wine instead of a mixed drink. It's worth noting that AMC is opening a new theater at the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem NH which is not far from this one. Hopefully that theater will improve upon where this one falls short. read more

I have had always had a great experience here; never a problem. I haven't had the bad experiences that other reviewers have had so maybe I've just been lucky. For me the theaters are clean and the screens clear, the seats are comfortable (although some are starting to show their age) and the concession line moves quickly. This theater is a bit of a trek for us but it was showing Parasite at 11ish and everywhere else had it much later so we decided to grab two tickets and check the movie out. Plenty of parking as it's located inside the Loop with tons of shopping. The theater itself seems aged. The bathrooms were in poor shape. I never buy popcorn but have to laugh at them selling R2D2 popcorn containers for $49.99. Yikes. The theater had reclining seats but they were so uncomfortable and hard to work compared to every other theater I've been to. Not sure who designed it but 4 buttons that don't seem to work that well is a bit excessive. Plus, the padding is not very good so even reclined they weren't that comfortable. I couldn't even get the back of the seat to return to the right position when it was time to leave and had to struggle out of it. I don't see us returning any time soon. It needs a major renovation and deep cleaning (seriously, the bathroom was gross). read more

My boys went to see spider man last night. They are very picky about where they like to see a movie. They always pick AMC and always this location. They were in the IMAX theater and could not say enough about how awesome the sound quality and how clear the picture was. They used the stubs line to get food. The staff were all so nice and they really Enjoyed being a priority. The stubs line is way shorter. Husband said bathrooms and the Whole building were very clean. Nothing worse than when a theater has left over food or over flowing trash. That is never the case here. Food was fresh and they said they can't wait until the next time they can visit! So I bought a rated R ticket with 2 of my friends and when we went to go into the movie we got ID. Now im 18 but i do not have a license for personal reasons so obviously there was a problem. So I was sent to the manager and I asked if it was AT ALL possible if I could show him my birth certificate AND a college ID that has my face. Those 2 items could get me a tattoo and a piercing btw. He looks at me and says no. Gives me refund and we leave. It confused me so I called a different AMC in Burlington MA and they said that they would accept it there and that it's totally up to the manager alone to accept or deny it. So basically the only problem is that the manager j wanted to be a jerk and say no. And I think that's terrible customer service and if it was possible I think as a manager who's job is to make peoples experience there pleasant should have accepted it. We went to the movies yesterday afternoon at the new AMC Methuen 30 (formerly Lowes) and was quite impressed at all the improvements. The did a lot of upgrades which was impressive! To the pick your seat (touch screen) when purchasing tickets, adjustable leather recliners in the stadium seating, a bar, and dyson hand dyers in the men's room. What could be better of course is less expensive concessions; and shorter commercial and trailers. The 4:00 movie started closer to 4:30. Also we could hear other movies through the walls so better sound proofing is needed. read more

This theater is always a dump. I've never seen so much trash and spilled food all over the place. The employees here are the most miserable people I've seen in my entire life. The amount of reviews here about rodents running amok is extremely concerning. I'd surely hate to see what the theaters look like if all the lights were turned on high. Im writing this review while currently waiting for a movie to start that was supposed to begin 20 min ago. We walked into a pitch black room where people had to use thier phones to find the seats. No lights, no movie screen lit up causes a dangerous situation in finding your way around. I've been going here since I was a kid and it's my favorite movie theater I've ever been to. Very clean, seats are comfortable, staff is helpful, concessions are expensive (it's a movie theater, what do you expect?) yet they're easy to buy and the line is never too long. Very modern; online ticketing is a breeze. The IMAX is newly renovated and the Dolby Cinema is brand new. I recommend Dolby if you can as it still retains the comfortable seats while emitting upgraded sound and visuals. I'll continue going to AMC Methuen until it closes or I die, whatever comes first. read more

This is one of the nicest movie theaters I've been too. The seating is comfortable and they have all the latest technology. I've watched about a dozen or so movies there and the experience each time was amazing. The IMAX, Dolby ATMOS, and just there standard theater are all nice. They also sell alcohol. For months I've told myself that AMC is the best and I always seem to find myself defending them... and yet recently I've come to realize that this location is terrible. A year back I remember seeing Logan and one of their screens went down so they combined two showings which, whatever it happens... Back in December seeing Last Jedi they started the movie with no sound... how that happens is beyond me. In February I went to see an IMAX showing of Black Panther that wasn't 3d and they played 2 minutes of 3D before rebooting it... And last night seeing Ready Player One I had a goddamn mouse jump onto my foot as I'm watching the movie. How is it I pay $30-40 at the concession stand, $20 a ticket for the movie and yet I have to deal with Stuart Little trying to steal my overpriced popcorn?! This is ridiculous... this is why theaters are losing box office to Netflix and digital sales because as an AMC Stubs member... as someone who spends a good deal of money a year at your locations I'm finding it less and less appealing to come back... read more

Upgraded to recliners and reserved seating! This theater can get dirty at peak times, it is hard to keep up with all the kids and teenagers through the evening. I hope they could start taking coupons online because by the time you get to the theater for an opening release it might be already sold out. Other than that, it is nice to know that you have a seat where you want it when you get to the theater with the reserve seating. I have not encountered an issue with keeping my reserved seat at this location. read more

I remember liking this theater the first time I came here... I don't know if it was actually better then, or if I just had no taste, since I was very, very young. Either way, it's my least favorite theater in the area now. The one good thing I can say it has going for it is the decor - but even that isn't as grand as I remember it being as a child. But the decor isn't important, since you are presumably coming here to watch movies. Just about everything you can think of can be criticized here. Most of the patrons are your average creepers. The place probably hasn't been cleaned since 1822. Your shoes will stick to the floors in the theater more often than they will not. There is an excellent chance there will be projection issues at some point during your movie. There is also a good chance that there will be sound issues. The quality of your movie will not be good, no matter what. At least one of your fellow theater-goers will talk loudly or leave her cell phone on throughout the movie - and not because she forgot to turn it off, but because she has no courtesy and thinks her phone calls and text messages are more important than the fact that you are paying a ridiculous amount of money to see the movie. The staff will not help you. After you wait in a line that will probably take you at least 10 minutes to reach the front of, the lady or gentleman who sells you your ticket will probably mumble at you as you are exchanging money with them. If you want food, those people will mumble at you too. Had a bad experience? Want your money back? Good luck. read more

Went to see LEGO 2 tonight with the kid. Theater 6 row H seat 1 is also a bathroom because it literally smells like piss. I went to use the bathroom after the movie and the bathroom smelled better. I feel gross. I think the addition of booze might have dulled the inhibitions of some of the patrons. So much so they relieve themselves whilst enjoying a film. Either that or someone with in nose shot of me and the kid needed a diapie change. I'm positive that wasn't the case. Love amc theaters. You could ore order tickets, hours ahead, days ahead, weeks ahead. Seats are super comfortable. Except the imax Theater seats though. I believe the imax theatre was reconstructed before all the new upgrades on all of the theaters. Therefore all the movie theaters have reclining leather seats and the imax only has leather regular seats. I also highly recommend the amc stubs award. Saves you a lot of money! And you get to skip lines if you decide to purchase anything while you're there. read more
