Had a horrible experience in this old dates theater. The theater is old and not clean. I ordered a large popcorn and they then informed me that refills are for extra large only. It was a dollar difference. I would think they would have told me that when I ordered. I also brought my daughters we are 15 and 17. They were both asked if they were students, they both said yes. At this time they asked them for a school ID. I mean why ask them if you are going to ask them to prove it. I mean legally a minor needs to be a student in school. The employees are young children who are rude and the customer service is not good. In the future I will spend the extra money and go to AMC or even Kendall theaters. The theater is usually not packed when I come here. The stadium seating is comfortable enough. Movie quality and sound are good. I came with my wife and kids to see inside out 2 and pre purchased my tickets online and when we got to the theater I got criticized by the ticket attendant that my 13 year old son was not part of the children tickets she said and I quote "where's the third child? I responded that it's my 13 year old and she said "In the future he's not a child he's just like you" in reference to that he needs an adult ticket instead of a child ticket but when you go online to purchase your tickets it doesn't have an age limit for tickets. So if I wanted to I could have bought all children tickets for the whole family but I'm very disappointed with the customer service and how my family and I were treated. The counter person really made the experience great! I'm very sorry I don't remember the spelling of her full name but when I asked her name she said Yassie. She is OUTSTANDING w people n her product knowledge is incredible. I'd be back just to see her. Such great energy. I am taking off a star bc there was a woman and a man sitting on a bench in the lobby n when I went up bc my Coke 0 tasted like vinegar, she started screaming from her bench to the nice employee. We bought tickets online for a movie while in town on Holiday Vacation from Virginia. We walked in and there was no one at the front counter or taking tickets, figured ok, maybe they do everything at concessions. Got in line for snacks and a surly woman yelled "Can I help you" from a register on the side. Walked over and held out my phone w the code on it from the purchase, I was then yelled at for not printing my tickets out. I explained we were from out of town and the app didn't tell me I had to print. I then got a lecture about how the theatre needs printed tickets for accountability or something, ok, got it Ma'am. Then got back in line for about 45 minutes while the one kid working there got us some snacks. Movie was good, only saw two people working there and one of them was unnecessarily mean and confrontational. I would not return. read more

TRASH. I had bought my boyfriend & I tickets to go see the movie Zombieland: Double Tap on opening day. Since it was his birthday the day before the movie was scheduled to come out in theaters, I thought it would be an awesome gift & a great date night for the two of us. Yeah, I was sadly mistaken. On arrival, we had no idea where to go for people who purchased their tickets online. Luckily we followed the group in front of us & figured out what to do. When I scanned my email of the barcode for the 2 tickets, I was told to go talk to someone since there was some sort of error. After waiting behind a group of kids, we were FINALLY "helped". I explained to the lady that when I scanned the barcode it told me there was some sort of error. She looked it up & saw that our tickets had already been printed out. I then explained that there was no physical way that someone had printed out our tickets because, at the moment, we don't have a working printer & no one has access to my email besides me. After all that there was "nothing she could do" & we were instructed to call corporate to figure out what went wrong. Since calling corporate, they still told me there's nothing they could do. No refund. No new movie tickets. Not even a damn coupon. I will never again use any Cinemark since they are trash & don't compensate for issues that were NOT caused by the customer. I work for a dry cleaners & mistakes happen. More often than none, mistakes occur. However, we actually help our customers & ensure that they have a good experience with our establishment. & P.S, at times we actually don't cause the problem & sometimes customers are wrong, but we still do SOMETHING to reach some sort of agreement. read more

I accidentally purchased tickets for the wrong day because I'm human so I made a mistake. The manager Adam Rivera wouldn't even just let me in even though he knew that I had purchased the tickets. You mean as a paying customer you couldn't give me a one time courtesy or something? That was just totally uncalled for. Even the girl who took my ticket who noticed the error told me just to go back to the ticket booth and they should take care of it. Because who'd think that that would be such a big issue! I was also told by another employee that corporate may or may not refund me. They compared it to going to a concert. If you go to a concert they don't refund you if you miss the concert. Huh? Ur comparing seeing a movie to a concert?! And Adam knew good n well that they had plenty of seats available! It was just something so simple! Who does that?! But they took my money with no issues though right. But instead he chose to inconvenience me even more because silly human me made a mistake! Who cares what the policy says. Shit happens! That is not good business practice and it's horrible customer service. I'm a consumer, I'm spending my money at this place and this is how I get treated. No other establishment would have treated me like that because it's just not good business practice to punish a paying customer for making one mistake! This is my local theater of choice. First, you're not going to find a first-run theater of this quality with cheaper tickets than Tinseltown. Matinee's are a few bucks and evening prices are easily $3-5 dollars cheaper than other theaters in the area. Seats are comfortable and as clean as the competition. The audience sizes are always minimal (ie..less chance of some numbnut kid talking on their cell phone). I think they do a decent job of cleaning in between shows and the screen sizes are commensurate with local, large theaters. You're not going to find reclining seats, over-sized screens or over-the-top audio here, but the other perks certainly pay off. Cheers. read more

Went here today, just because the showtime worked out better than our usual theater. Smaller screens than most of the area theaters. Seats are ok, but our regular place is more comfortable. Tickets were cheaper than most area places. Ticket line was pretty slow, but clerk was polite and moved as quickly as he could - just a little understaffed. Concession line was also slow, and drinks were more expensive than most places. Pricing and signage is super confusing and annoying. Refills only on large popcorn and large drink (and only 1 refill allowed), whereas our usual place has unlimited. Did not see a place for salt or other seasoning (although you could buy seasoning bottles). Popcorn was fabulous. I might come back here only because the popcorn is so good. read more

I am from Chicago but my family and I were in the area and decided to stop in to see a movie since we had time to kill. Without reading the reviews, I rated this place a pretty high review and the only reason I gave it one star less is because of the lightning in the lobby which is too dimmed for my taste. The people who are complaining should come to the theaters in the city. I think the people in Aurora are spoiled because I sure wish there were theaters like this within city limits. First of all, the prices are such that you can bring your whole family and watch a movie in 3d without breaking the bank. A 3-D movie in Chicago is about twice as what it was here. I was astounded by how huge the screen was and how wide the seats/aisles are. Once again in Chicago, the aisles are almost the size of airplane aisles. I left feeling envious that Aurora has such a cool theater and in Chicago, we get stuck with overpriced movie tickets and tiny seats. read more

OK, so, first things first: This is a very, very cheap theater that shows first run movies. Current pricing is $6.25 for a non-3D movie, $8.75 for a 3D movie. Kids and matinees are significantly cheaper. With the name of the game being cheap, cheap, cheap, this is the sort of place you need to go to with your expectations well in check. The place smells like musty basement, the people who work there aren't too bright, and with tickets this cheap of course you're going to attract the clientele who can't afford to go to a theater with "regularly" priced tickets... Which, I might add, are typically double what Tinseltown charges. With that in mind, expect people who... -Talk during the movie. -Respond to the movie with "Oh hell naw" and similar. -Bring loads of kids and don't pay attention to them. -Bring their kids to R rated movies. -Bring their kids to R rated movies, then spend the whole movie explaining to their kids what's happening. -Talk on their phone. -Record the movie with their phone. -Send Snapchat messages of the movie. -Bring their kids then give them their phone to watch peppa pig on YouTube with the sound on. -Pay for a movie then spend the entire time on Facebook. ...and everything else you could imagine. Opening nights are particularly terrible. The last movie we saw there at its first showing with a reasonably full theater there were four people in front of us who spent the entire movie on their phone. Granted, it's not ALWAYS that bad, as it's entirely possible to see a movie there with a normal, polite, audience, but it definitely seems to be a rarity. If any of this stuff bothers you, feel free to drive to any other nearby theater and spend twice as much money to see the same movie. Personally, I love Tinseltown as the audience can sometimes be more entertaining than the movie itself. At $6.25 a ticket, you can go see a horrid movie without feeling bad. And, hey, I'm a sucker for a well timed "AWW HELL NAW" from the person sitting six rows behind me. Bright phone screens are super annoying, but, again, you get what you pay for. read more

UGH. Went in on a sunday afternoon... Walked in at 1:30 for a 2pm show. AFter a quick 5 minute bathroom break, my 4 year old son asked for popcorn. We waited in line. And waited and waited and waited. there were about 10 people ahead of us in line. 2pm then rolled around. You know, when the movie started. There were still 7+ people ahead of us in line. I asked for a refund and was offered tickets for a later show. Right. Like, if I saw the 4pm show, i'd LOVE to wrangle my 4 year old for another TWO FREAKING HOURS in the movie theatre. I got my refund and a half assed "we're doing the best we can". I'm sorry, but no, no you're not. If you were doing the best you could, the manager type person behind the popcorn counter would have opened up one of the empty registers, and started taking orders instead of wandering back and forth behind the counter aimlessly occasionally shouting "anyone need refills", or helping the cashiers get the orders together. I've been in DMV lines that moved faster. - The customers who were helped were helped SO slowly. - I've worked food service before and it does not take a tremendous amount of time to grab the simple orders that the customers were requesting. My son was really upset that we had to leave, but i was *NOT* going to spend another half an hour in line and miss half the movie!!!! read more

Been coming here since the opening. Great prices. Bathrooms are clean, albeit stalls are small or the toilet paper dispensers are just way too big. They are practically over the toilets. Never had a picture cut in the middle of a film. Lots of parking. The service has gone through ups and downs throughout the years. $4.25 to see a movie on a Friday night? Awwww Yeaaaahhh! I've been here several times and the prices are certainly right. Regular adult price is $6.25 and student discount (Thank you, grad school!) is a whopping $4.25. Last night I went to see Dolphin Tale. The price was right. No lines anywhere. Clean location. Comfy seats. The picture quality was great. Overall, I am a happy camper. The only issue was the fact that they let a large group of people into the movie 30 minutes in...and that large loud group left 30 minutes before the end of the movie. Really?!? Wow, this place is cheap. $6 a ticket on a Saturday night? That's like, 2001 prices! The ticket area is so small, people have to stand outside many times to wait in line to buy a ticket. The lobby is enormous...soooo, they should probably move the ticket counters farther inside so people don't have to stand in the cold and/or rain to get a ticket! The theaters themselves are nothing special...but I had one seriously bad experience here. We saw "Sinister" on a Saturday night at around 8pm, and a mom behind us decided it was a great idea to bring her kindergarten-age children and their friends to this R-rated movie. Uh, seriously? The opening scene showed a family being hung from a tree. The freaking movie was about a killer of children! It was rated R! And yet, the mom thought it was a great idea to bring these 6 year olds! Not only that, but the mom narrated the entire movie for the kids. We kept turning around and looking the mom square in the eye with our best "Shut the f up" eyes, but the kids would just say hi and the mom would just stare right back at us. Ignorant. I know its not the theater's fault...but shame on the person at the ticket counter who thought it was good idea to sell 4 children's passes to a R-rated HORROR movie. This alone is basically the reason we have not been back. Maybe its childish of us, but wow. The only reason this place is still in business is because of their awesome ticket prices! read more

This theater is awesome. It's located right off of I-88 and has the cheapest tickets you'll find anywhere. During the day you'll probably pay $3-4 for a ticket to any show, and no more than $4-8 for an evening show. There's really fun decor on the inside and all of the theaters have stadium seating, meaning there aren't any 'bad seats.' Tinseltown is definitely my favorite theater in the area. read more

As everyone else has attested, they're pretty affordable most of the time, and damn near cheap the rest of the time. It's not as fresh as other theaters, but it's not nasty. Some of the issues... people talking, kids at R rated flicks, etc. happen at all movie theatre. There aren't a lot of restaurants in the immediate vicinity, aside from Denny's and a Popeyes. However, you're next to 88 so you can get to somewhere fairly quickly. read more

The upgrades and improvements to this theater's appearance and service deserve praise. I visited a few years back and it wasn't in good condition. Also a bit disheveled. These days it is inviting from the repainted exterior to the freshened-up interior with new seats that are quite comfortable. Also, my wife and I were quite pleasantly shocked that two tickets for the matinee on Avatar cost only $12.50! After that, the refreshment service was great. Fast and fresh. Prices about the same on that as other theaters, but that's how theaters make money. We all know that. What also impressed me was the preview presentations. The City of Aurora from whence much of the attendance likely comes is quite diverse in terms of culture and ethnicity and the previews rightly reflected that. That's the way it should be. Congrats to Cinemark. I highly recommend that everyone in the Fox Valley check this theater out for good deals on movies and a nice environment. read more

I bought my tickets online but when I got to the place they did not have wifi so I could pull up the app. When we were finally issued tickets the in was wet and got all over my white shirt and hands, ruining my shirt. They were out of 3D glasses but finally found some in a closet. They do not post the prices on their popcorn combinations and no one knew the amount of discount. The movie was good. read more

Can't beat the prices! The mid-late afternoon matinees are $4.25 on 1st run newly released movies. The seat are a pretty sucky. All of the cushioning is ripped out of the armrests & there's an overall stickyness to the floors. They will never be able to remodel charging these prices and that's ok. Okay, so it's not the newest or cleanest theater, but the tickets are super cheap. Food is pricey but that's to be expected. Popcorn is better than Randall. Most of the people who work here are super awesome. Like others have said, during more popular movies and showtimes, people can be obnoxious. Sometimes it's annoying, sometimes entertaining. Went to see Thor: Ragnarok at the matinee showing. The lights were half on... ok someone turn them off. Then the movie stopped at started back on a few seconds later. Then there was a power outage... theres no storm or anything. Now no movie. To make matters worse we have to wait to get a refund. We have never been here before but we definitely wont ever come back. I have never had a movie go out at any theater. This place just blows. read more

I am giving this 1 star only because 0 stars isn't possible. I came to see a rated r movie with my sixteen year old sister. It has never been a problem in the past bringing her here since I am over 21 and her sibling. They said that we were not allowed to see the movie since I was not her parent and that she was only 16. I had ID proof that I was 25 but, yet it wasn't good enough for the employee and her manager. Not even to mention the amount of disrespect from the employee + the manager. Let me tell you about my experience here. I come here a lot since it's one of the closest theaters to me. I never have problems with them but today just blew my mind. They NEVER ask for ID but all of a sudden the manager santos is there so every employee decides to finally do their job right. If you come here anytime at night or when there's no major movie like IT being shown you will never be asked to provide any sort of ID. It's obvious everyone in my group was older than 20 but they still demanded ID to see the movie. So now I have to waste gas to drive back home which is 20 minutes away then drive back to watch a movie at a later showtime. This is just inconvenient and a waste of time. read more

This place has changed . Ticket prices are great but everything else is wrong. Last two times I went the auditorium was very warm should have been air conditioned. No notice of a breakdown. Their concession stand staff is the worst ever. Takes about 10 minutes to ring up one person. So literally if you are not there an hour early and want popcorn you could miss your showtime! Managers included nobody cares even if you say something. Oh and the popcorn was stale obviously sat there for a few hours. Do yourself a favor pay the few extra bucks for a theater with proper temp control fresh concessions and a trained staff. read more
