My oldest son (an adult) was visiting and we went there to play at the arcade while waiting for the time for him to go to the airport and head home. Went to the movies at cinamawest in placerville to spend a small fortune on a night out. I know going to the movies is now a 50 dollar evening after tickets and a popcorn. What I didn't figure is that the movie itself looked like it was being shown in a theater in the 70s. There was only 4 people in the theater. So maybe they turned the projector light down to save money. But holy shit, the film was blurry and color was off. It was the quality of film you see at a drive in. Absolutely terrible. I've been there before when the theater was full or near full and no problem with a film. For 50 dollars I expect to see a clear picture when going to see a movie. The theater has one thing to do. Play the film like it supposed to be seen in a theater. Will not be back read more

This is a great movie theater in placerville with surprisingly modern amenities. I was able to book my ticket online- the only problem was that someone was in my seat so we had to move and then someone said we were in their seat so we had to move again lol. Listen this one of the great places in the City of Placerville. This theater has expereinced renovation in the past two years and it is awesome. It,s very clean and the Manager and the Staff take allot of Pride making your Cinematic expereince a great one. The people who work the counter are pleasant and greet you with hospitality. Great game room for the children off to the side while you are waiting. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked. The seats are incredible and comfortable as well as the sound is maginificent. My only critique is they keep the theaters a bit to cool for me during the winter months. The drinks and the food are great and I hope there is more variety coming. I highly recommend this theater. read more

I always want to support this theater because it's always a bit slow but every time we go we start to get so uncomfortable in their seats. Ok, I wasn't going to do this but it needs to be done, The staff here at the theater is terrible and very slow and sloppy, Tuesday's are always discounted but Thanksgiving Weekend they are not, and when told they are rude. I was excited to see our local theater get new owners and upgraded recliners, but it's going downhill fast, as I may also have to go downhill to El Dorado Hills to see movies from now on. Several times the projectors were faulty, either the top 1/4 of the film was projected above the screen, cutting off heads of actors, and other films had yellow clouds over the center of the movie. When I asked the manager for a refund or at least a ticket to return another time she said she didn't know how to do that. The lobby and halls are usually dirty with spilled popcorn, and although the young employees are polite, they seem to need management. The popcorn is never as good as Regal or Paladio theaters, and never tastes hot and fresh. Any emails to corporate get no response, so I assume they don't really give a damn. Lastly, customers who pre-bought tickets, or just want to purchase admission, shouldn't have to wait in line behind people ordering food. read more

Terrible excuse for a movie theater! At first, I enjoyed how laid back this theater is. However, after tonight I'm never going back. A few major issues. 1-Why am I waiting to check in at the concessions line for families with 8+ ppl to order their food and drinks? Literally was just trying to see the movie. 2-It was raining tonight and our auditorium was leaking water the entire movie. It was incredibly loud and distracting. You really had the audacity to charge full price for that? They shouldn't have allowed that in the first place. 3-The recliners don't recline enough. The other ones at the regal theaters in EDH/Folsom are way better. Overall, it's a rundown, mismanaged movie theater. I'll spend a few extra bucks to avoid this place. read more

I hate to leave a review on one of our local businesses, but being that both contact emails for the cinema are not valid, it seems like they don't want to hear any feedback. My husband and I understand disruptions happen, but never have we ever felt the need to leave our seats to complain. I spoke with management the first 30 minutes of the movie about the loud teenagers sitting next to us (in an R rated movie), who were throwing popcorn at each other and got some on me in the process, talking to each other, laughing, and texting each other with their phones out. Management said they'd send staff to see their behavior. As soon as the group would see an employee come in, they'd stop, and then start back up again. We did not enjoy our movie at all because of them and it was so disheartening. So I figured we could email the theatre and ask for a refund. BOTH emails on the website are not valid. If I could do no stars I would. Its always something with this place. Today we decided to try 1 more time, MISTAKE. We took our grandson to a movie that shut off for about the last 10 min. What a great little hidden gem! All of the concession workers were friendly and went out of their way both times I've gone. Twice now I've taken my twin 9 year old grandsons and my 10 year old granddaughter. The seating is amazing, so incredibly comfortable, I love how you can get the tickets and pick your seats for the theater online also. The entire place was clean including the restrooms. Definitely my new favorite place to go see movies. Kudos to management for great training of your staff. read more

The cleanliness could be greatly improved, especially considering the large amount of trash, found behind the seats. Additionally, customer service needs significant improvement. Every time I've visited in the past year--around four to five times--they have informed me that the movie theater screen is malfunctioning, forcing us to watch a different film instead. Moreover, the air conditioning has been out each time during the summer. And the staff have had snooty attitudes. Watch a movie at the El Dorado theaters or on prime don't waste your money. I really hope this new remodel revamps this Cinema in our backyard! No more driving down the hill for the recliner seats. In fact they also have double recliners so you can cuddle up with your significant other during a scary movie. Customer service was great and you could tell the manager was genuinely happy to have customers. Reserve your seats online, pick up that jumbo popcorn with a mixed Icee, sit back, recline and relax to the sound of entertainment. ps. Hostile towards families. My wife and I took our 2 grandkids who wanted to see different movies. I took our grandson to one screen and my wife took our granddaughter to another. Their film was longer and started 15 minutes later which meant my grandson and had to wait about an hour for them to get out. We waited in a lounge area in the lobby. After about 20 minutes they told us they had a 15 minute policy and kicked us out. I explained the situation but they said it was a " no exception " policy. We had to wait outside about 20 minutes (it was night and raining). read more

Young employee at the counter wouldn't let me in because I forgot my id at my apartment. Was extremely rude and ruined my week on college break. For future reference I will just be renting on Amazon prime, and I would strongly advise that you took this route aswell and avoid this establishment. read more

What a great theater to have in our little town! The remodel is amazing! We had my sons birthday party here and rented out an entire theater room for a private viewing. Terrible terrible set up! You have to wait in line to check in with your tickets behind everyone getting concessions. We have gotten here ten minutes before our movie several times and been late to our movie because they only have two people at the desk getting everyone's concessions and checking in tickets. We tried to go in around the line and they yelled at us that we need to scan our tickets-the line had about 30 people in it and was wrapping around the front! We weren't getting concessions-it's so stupid to make everyone wait behind people getting food when you're not. They need someone to check on tickets at all time, it's absolutely ridiculous. There is also often times a big yellow spot in the middle of the screen, it ruined Nosferatu for us. Almost every time I go here, my cup holder is full of sticky soda like they barely clean. We've come here quite a bit and it gets more and more frustrating every time. They need more staffing majorly. More than anything, they need a staff member to check in tickets at all times and they very rarely do. read more

Excellent upgrade from the former theater and an awesome place to catch a new flick on the cheap! Seating is comfortable and roomy. Now if Hollywood could produce a decent movie we would attend more often. I have heard the also show older movies too? But, haven't checked that out yet. read more

I haven't been to a movie theater in years. My boyfriend and I decided to go to breakfast and see a movie on Christmas. We were just going to buy our tickets at the theater, but while we were at breakfast, we noticed that tickets were selling out on line, so we purchased our tickets on line, as we were afraid they would sell out. We get to the theater and it was freezing cold inside and there was something sticky on my seat. We sat through 15 minutes of audio only trailers only to be told that they were having technical difficulties and they didn't have a technician on duty to fix it. All of the showings of the movie, for that day were cancelled because they were all showing on the same screen. We got a refund minus the fee for purchasing our tickets on line, even though it was the theater's fault we couldn't see the movie. I know every business has issues beyond their control or off days, but when I read other reviews, I realized this theater has some on-going issues. I won't be coming back. Another couple at the same showing said they rushed, as they bought their tickets on line and had forgotten their phone at a friend's and had to retrieve it, on their way to the showing, to provide proof of ticket purchase, only to be disappointed at the theater read more

Went to see Barbie last night (a movie that is all about color and visuals) in one of the smaller theaters (#3) and the movie was washed out, visible white vertical lines on the screen, and the left half was darker than the right. I tried to tune this out but visuals are half of the movie experience. Kind of shocked, to be honest. read more

We are so thrilled with our local updated theater, seats and ability to pre-order tickets! An upgraded experience for our family, except for one thing. Our hearing impaired son needs a closed captioning device, but the one at this theater fails at some point during every movie experience. Friday sep 9th. My 17 year old son and his friends accompanied by his aunt went in excited to see THE NUN. Their night was ruined by the rude staff. First they stated that they needed to be accompanied by someone 17 or older as it's a rated R movie. Understandable. My son showed his Ca ID. They woman quickly changed it and told them that they needed to be accompanied by someone who is 21 or older and they must stay the entire film. They pointed out the age requirements that were posted on the movie wall. The rude employee stood her ground and his aunt was just going to drop them off but them decided to stay so the boys night wasn't completely ruined. Employee then threatened his aunt that if she was to go to the restroom or leave the boy that they would kick the boys out. As his aunt was dropping them off she asked me to come swap with her. (This was ran by said employee) so I drove from shingle springs to Placerville to let these boys can enjoy a movie. then the boys decided 20 min after the movie started to get some drinks they were told they were closed. ( there were employees sipping there drink and eating popcorn standing around) I understand that is was probably the last showing and they wanted to head out for the night. She also probably thought that theses boys where going to be a disruptive but don't judge a book by a cover!!! There were 6 of us. I'm sure the owner would not like to hear that they are turning away business. We could easily gone to El Dorado Hills but decide to try out the newly remodeled theater. Well guess what ..... it was the worst experience !!!!! We really should have left but these boys have busy schedules and this was the only time for months that they can agree on a night!!!! I would give this zero stars if I can just for customer service!!!! I'm posting now as I haven't had a chance to sit down and write this up!!! I hope management retrains there staff!! read more
