This was my second time here. I hadn't been here in years. I might've came when it first opened for their seafood buffet, but there was a lunch promo going on for the month of September on a Tuesday. So my friends wanted to come out here for lunch. It's quite a drive for me, so I probably won't come out often. It's close to an hour drive from Elk Grove. It's a nice casino. Plenty of parking. I stopped by the rewards desk to get myself a membership card. It's also my birthday month though so I got a cool complementary coffee cup & a deck of used cards. The go kart Seems pretty cool, so I might come back for that one day. i'm not much of a gambler, but my friends signed up for the slot machine tournament. Not being a big gambler or much of a casino person I must say that I very much enjoy this place. Going with a group of friends makes it even more enjoyable. Having now been several times this past visit was the best. Usually a group of us bowl in the attached Apex center, plus gamble some; but this time was nearly entirely gambling. They have really upgraded the slots and they are awesome. Easy to play, fun and very entertaining. The tables also get a lot of good energy. I had previously played roulette and really had fun. There's also now this free game near the entrance from the hotel... you see how many points you can get by furiously hitting the button and screen for two minutes. It's a hoot. There are free soft drinks and coffee stations which is a very nice perk. The smoke does affect my allergies. I can only stand it for so long. So that's the downside. Downstairs, albeit limited options to play, is smoke-free. I understand they may HOPEFULLY do it upstairs too. Construction is underway so looking forward to new expansion. 3 o'clock is Happy Hour at the Apex bar, very pleasant and enjoyable. Make it a part of your visit. The staff is very friendly. Saturday 11:0am On our way back home after vacation in Lake Tahoe and we thought we'd stop in and have lunch and play a little. We enjoy Red Hawk because: A) Parking is Free and easy in/easy out. B) Access to Casino elevator from Parking lot is easy and safe. C) Games are available that we like and we usually win a little something! D) Cashiers are quick and friendly. E) Beverage stations available for coffee and soft drinks. We have never stayed at the hotel but we would like to one of these days. Bathrooms are convenient and clean. Security is visible and doing their job. We will definitely be back! read more

2021-2026 Our Asian elders love coming here to test their gambling luck! Sometimes they win, most times they donate to the electricity bills but their smiles when playing those slot machines are priceless.... Red Hawk has a descent amount of slot machines, tables and a high limit room if you got them thick pockets or a sugar sugar mama or papa! Wink wink. Red Hawk has a few eateries if you get hungry - and like most casinos they have a lobster and crab buffet night on Fridays at Kyoto which are a busy evening. Make sure you get your rsvp's in cuz they get busy! We've eaten at Pearl downstairs and didn't really care for it. To each their own - separate review. All in all, it's not a bad place to visit to test your luck for a few hours of entertainment and take the elders...it's worth it to see them smile, laugh and enjoy themselves when they hit an occasional bonus. Solid spot that's earned its stars. Honestly, on most fronts this is a strong 4 out of 5, but the kid-friendly options bump it up to a full 5 for me. More on that in a second. The casino has improved a lot over the years. They added a hotel, and they brought the poker room back, which I appreciated. It's running 7 tables, mostly 1/2 and 1/3. Nice touch: even though the casino is 21+, they let 18+ players into the poker room. You just get wrist-banded at security and you're good to go. Great way for younger players to get some real table time. Most dealers were great, but a few who were still learning and a few who commented on player tendencies and play styles to openly during the game, but it's an improvement from their previous set up years ago. The gaming floor is big, the staff is friendly across the board, and the pool is average. Not bad, not amazing, just fine. What pushes this over the top is the family factor. I can take the kids to Kids Quest, or head to the Apex Lounge for bowling and go-karts. We even celebrated a birthday here and it was a great time. Being able to handle gaming for me and real fun for the kids under one roof is what makes it a 5-star trip. Highly recommend. read more

They have a grand entrance near the hotel part of the resort. We didn't see it from the outside when we drove in, maybe because we followed the self park area instead of the valet arrow/direction. We saw it from the inside as we moseyed over to the hotel part looking for the Buffett. There was a waterfall to complete its grandness. Exit Red Hawk Parkway off the 50 and you enter directly into the resort. They have an easy to follow sign to Valet Parking and Self Parking. We choose to Self Park, no the way out we read a big sign that Valet parking is free. That would have been go to know at entering the resort. We parked on the 5th level and took the elevator down to the casino. We came for the buffet but, didn't see any signs that led you directly there. Walking around we ended up at the hotel portion of the resort. It's off to the side and has a long hallway there that isn't cramped with slot machines or table games. The lady at the front desk pulled out a map and showed us where the escalator was to the buffet and other restaurants. (See the Buffett page for a full review) After our buffet we wandered around the casino and found some table games that were for non-smokers. That was a perk for those that don't want to be consumed by people smoking. There were people smoking throughout the Casino and we had the misfortune of walking behind two of them as we were exiting the casino. One thing I was really surprised about it they have Pepsi Machines all over the casino and they are self serve. You can drink as much as you want for free. What a deal. They don't have cranberry or orange juice like they have in the buffet, but they have soda. They also have coffee and hot water. They have both reg and decaf coffee for the taking. I saw this cool machine that dispenses cream , blue sweetener, and sugar. They didn't have this machine in the buffet area. I saw a lot of people carrying around prizes and a prize distribution center. I don't know how you can get prizes, but one man was carrying around a garden hose and my husband commented on how useful that would be for us. I read up on it and you have to be a rewards member to get prizes. I was surprised my husband didn't sign up for their rewards program, he seems to sign up at every casino we go to. On the other hand we didn't do any gambling on this trip. Not even a single quarter in a slit machine. I don't belive the machines take cash anymore or give out cash. I believe it's now all on your card. Thus there is no spontaneity as you walk by a machine. My dad used to be one of those spontaneous people that would walk by after dinner and put in a few bills. He never won anything, but the tried. Before we left we checked out the apex. It's a neat place. RED HAWK RESORT + CASINO @ PLACERVILLE Parking here was super easy since they have a massive parking garage, and the best part is that it's completely free. Even though the casino gets pretty busy, there were still plenty of spots available when we went, which made everything really convenient. A group of us came here for a fun night out, and honestly there's way more to do here than I expected. Besides the casino itself, they also have an arcade section, go kart racing, and a bunch of other entertainment options throughout the property, so it feels more like a full entertainment spot rather than just a casino. We decided to try the go karts, and it ended up being really fun. It was about $20 per person for one race, and the track was actually pretty cool. The races felt fast paced and competitive, especially going with a group. Definitely something I'd recommend trying while you're there. After that, we spent some time inside the casino, and the atmosphere was lively the entire night. They also offer free beverages while you're playing, which was a nice bonus. The casino floor itself was clean, spacious, and had a good variety of games to choose from. Overall, this was a really fun experience with a lot more activities than I expected. I guess timing is everything,, since I came when it wasn't extremely busy, my food actually arrived very hot, exactly the way I like it, lol it even came with a orange wedge for garnish, wow! I do hate lukewarm food, the chicken fried steak actually came out pretty decent this time, it was not crunchy snd dried out like the last time, the potatoes, well they looked and tasted like they were done earlier in the day, they were sad.. My mom and I went to the Verona Coffeehouse, the larger one in the casino, it was a disaster. We wanted to order the mushroom Swiss burger but we're told oh no that's only for labor day. We then ordered the turkey club with everything on the side because my mom has a lot of allergies. When we got the food nothing was on the side. I went back up and had them remake it again saying everything on the side. Mind you I talked to a manager that time. So when I got it the second time everything was on the side however I didn't get any bread. What were we supposed to do eat it with our hands? Frankly after barely getting an apology we are not eating here again because this was not the 1st time something like this happened. I've been coming here on and off for some years now. This place is very far from me, but what I like here is that either if we win or loose, we end up having a nice overall experience. The buffet serves very good selection of foods. You can see the many photos of the different selections. That alone makes coming here a drive well worth. Also, the table dealers remember your face and just that little touch of remembering who you are makes playing here a much better experience than some other casinos. Most of the time when I come here, I always find room to play. But if you come here on a Friday or Saturday, this place can become very busy and it makes finding a game to play slightly difficult. As you can see from my photos, I have had some good luck playing here. Of course, I had my share of going home with no luck. Not much going on at Red Hawk for me as far as benefits or rewards for my return on the Slot machines but I came this week to make my picks on the kiosk for the weekly football picks. It's one free game called Pick em for a grand prize of $55,000, but you'd probably have to guess the winner of every game correctly. Another reason to venture out to Red Hawk is the Apex, on the opposite side of the casino, for the Apex grill if you're hungry, or video games, golf, and goal cart rides. This is the side that you can bring your entire family (children). Children can also go into the Koto Buffet on the casino side, on the 7 the floor. read more

Red hawk is actually pretty nice! They offer nice restaurants to dine and even the new arcade area has so much to do, if you're not a gambler. The casino area is always loud and Smokey as you can imagine. The arcade area is super fun to go with your kids or even friends to have cocktails and play games. They even have go cart racing( I'm pretty sure that's what it's called lol). We enjoyed the restaurant, fine dinging Henry's. Super cute place for a date night. read more

I'm actually kind of shocked but then again I feel like people often forget to leave great reviews about the more simple things in life like hotel rooms. Each floor of this hotel has a lovely landing lobby. That is cozy and comfortable. Great for meeting up with your group if you're together or just lounging waiting for departure times or a group to get together. The sixth floor landing lobby is amazing with huge floor ceiling windows that look out over the mountains. Hot tip from the security guard on the third floor who directed me up there because it made for a great place to get a little bit of work done before starting the day. The hotel lobby is stunning again with Florida ceiling windows that block out the residential below and only leave a sideline to the lush Green hillside and mountains that surround this property. Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly from the moment you pull up to the valet drive all the way into your room, and that extends into the casino and all the other outlets throughout the property. The rooms are modern luxurious and spacious for about $200 a night in the shoulder season and I'd say well worth it. I did not use the casino, but I did visit Apex and utilized the kid quest and fun quest arcades too all of which were well kept with friendly staff and great amenities. I'm hoping I can find the kid quest page because this service alone deserves to be five stars. Will I come back to this hotel? While I've already told about 15 other families in Reno about it who had no idea existed as a premier getaway opportunity, so yeah, we'll be back. read more

Worth the drive? I think so.. This was our first time at this casino/resort. We were in town visiting family and one thing about us is we will travel for a casino lmao! Parking was a breeze, it was actually pretty empty for being a sunday. We got our players card. However, unlike most casinos red hawk does not give you anything for being a first time card holder. The casino floor was clean, plenty of staff walking around to take drink orders and pick up trash. They do allow smoking throughout so that was my downside, but perk for the smokers. They have drink stations for you to do self service which was loved! It makes it so much easier and more convenient to get refreshments. Overall, we had a really good time. Won some money, played some fun machines, explored their arcade game area and went home happy. read more

This Yelp page needs to be split into two: one for hotel reviews and one for casino reviews. This review is a hotel review. We did not go to the casino. We stayed one overnight on a weekend in September 2025 and got two connecting rooms. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We needed room service once and they were quick to send someone up. There is a pool and fitness area as well (we didn't do that). Each room came with a fridge but no microwave. Valet is complimentary, should you wish to use it. My biggest two complaints are that there is no continental breakfast and parking is a 15 minute walk away through the casino (which is surely deliberate). Overall, not a bad place, and one of the overnight places in the area that accepts children, which was non-negotiable for us. read more

It's a casino, which is not our preference for a place to hang out, but friends took us out for some fun. It's the typical casino vibe, smoking, drinking and trying to drain your wallet, but they thankfully had an entrance just for the recreational side of things. Staff was great, very helpful and the food was good. We bowled for an hour and then drove the cars on the slick track. Price was reasonable and facilities quite good. Wanted to grab a coffee and had to walk through the smoke filled casino to get to it, which was unfortunate. Good place for what we did if you can avoid the casino spaces imo. read more

Comps here are pretty amazing, I get $250 per week for a month, that's $1000 per month. And I barely visit. The points just rack up here. I also have an amazing host Michelle, she's super awesome. Comped food, comped hotel room, even comped suites on weekdays. If you play here make sure to use your player's card to get points. And utilize the point multiplier days. read more

We have gone here many times and usually enjoy the buffet and APEX, and today wanted to get in on the Tuesday local buffet promotion as we live in El Dorado County. The staff and supervisor at the membership booths gave my wife a hard time just because her ID still has our old address printed on it. Apparently they don't know that DMV does not issue new ID unless you pay for a new ID. The supervisor wouldn't budge and she ended up calling her supervisor who told her it's fine. Yet she still insisted we show her the mailer. Why? Our address is in the system...and that's why my wife is a Premier member! The way they make you jump through hoops for promotions is why my wife won't go to Red Hawk anymore! It's lousy customer service, and that's how a business will lose loyal customers. read more

We've stayed here a couple of times but today was the one that was disappointing. I had pulled the flat sheet off of the bed and there was a bed bug on the sheet. At first I thought it was something else until it started moving. I took a photo/video and I went to the front desk to inform them. They just apologized. They just stared at the photo, didn't take any initiative to offer any solution, or at least move us to another room so to break the awkwardness, i just said, "I just wanted to let you guys know" and went back to our room. I didn't let anyone else in my party know because the girls would have been freaked out and would have wanted to move. It is what it is. I get it happens but in an establishment like this one, you'd think the guests comfort and satisfaction would come first. I guess since it's a comped room, I can't really complain either but these rooms aren't "free" if we're spending a certain amount to be able to get these rewards. read more

I like the free soda and coffee. I didn't like the roulette, there was no ball. There were magnets (a magnet would flip up) but it was hard to read the numbers. This took the excitement out of it so I played a couple times and then I cashed my chips in and moved on. The slots are pretty good. The food is fine. We didn't stay long, mostly because it's too bright in there. It feels like there's these really bright white fluorescent lights turned up pretty high so it just didn't seem like a fun evening environment. read more

I offered to buy the women's drink. Now to Slots : Games are all OLD compared to other Casino in Sac area and very Tight. Craps is $5 dollars so bring alot of the local clientele and cheap clientele there. Still no Poker room, but they are working on one. Very clean and modern casino. Lots of dining options. Lots of gaming options and a variety of other entertainment options. Pretty lively on a Saturday night. The free beverage bar is a nice touch. My only complaint would be the amount of smoke. I've been to many casinos before and this one had a very smoky interior that hits you as soon as you walk in. Came here to take the family indoor Go-Kart racing & bowling at Apex. I don't gamble so I'm varying rarely at any of the casinos in the Sacramento area. Unless I'm at one of the restaurants, and or at the pool during the summer. Not a fan of smoking so the smell of fresh & stale cigarettes in the casinos is enough to make me want to avoid that area as much as possible. Trip was short lived at the wait to get onto the Go-Kart track was 2 hrs, and it was even longer to get onto a bowling lane. They don't really take reservations unless it for parties, so the opportunity to actually race or bowl may not be possible unless you want to wait a few hours. We didn't however come on a Saturday evening, so maybe we'll try earlier during the day to see if things are any different. read more

Came here to Koto on a Saturday before Father's Day. You need to call for a reservation for 5 or more. 4 or less can be booked online. Walkins are welcomed but it'll be hard if it's packed. Lobster was okay but I prefer the steamed crab legs. I mainly had lobsters and crab legs. I was full after the second round. They have pepper dip so you don't need to bring your own! Played on 4 machines. Made money on two and lost money on two. Overall, I came home with money so that is always good. Just a little upset I spent $300 chasing on the last machine and nothing hit. Ugh!! Stupid buffalo machine. Lmao Don't really have any interaction with employees except at the buffet. We had the bus boys grab us beers. You do need to pay ahead but they were nice. read more

We hit town on a party bus we had lots of fun and laughs on the way there. Upon our arrival, one of the nice employees who greeted us in the lobby offered to take a picture she recommended standing by the waterfall. We checked in and were given our Red Hawk Casino cards with a value of $15 to start our gambling. The go carts were definitely an attraction and were fun to ride, although the ride could have been a few minutes longer. We were hungry and wanted to try the buffet, unfortunately it didn't open until 4p, it was high noon. The bowling alley had lots of excitement with plenty of people. We hung out here as we laughed relentlessly until it was time to go. The time went by so fast, I have to return maybe even grab a room at the hotel connected to the casino. The security guard showed me how to get started with my casino card, he was delighted to do it. The staff were exceptional and very helpful, I enjoyed my day here.
