The cake was moist, flavorful, and the strawberry filling was delicious, which is why we decided to order a 6 inch birthday cake for $90. Unfortunately the first custom cake was extremely dry. Nobody at the birthday party wanted to eat it, which was disappointing considering the price. We contacted the bakery, and to their credit they offered to remake the cake, which I genuinely appreciated. When we picked up the remake, the cake box had been taped shut and the frosting had smashed onto the top of the box, so I had to scrape frosting off the lid and put it back onto the cake myself. It wasn't a huge deal since it was just for family, but it didn't feel very carefully handled. The bigger issue was that the remake still wasn't made correctly. The original order was white cake with fresh strawberries and strawberry filling/purée in the middle. The remake had fresh strawberries but regular frosting filling instead. The cake itself was much better this time and not dry, but it still wasn't what we ordered. I do appreciate that they tried to fix the mistake, and their individual cake slices and cupcakes are honestly really good. But after receiving one dry cake and then a remake that was made incorrectly and packaged carelessly, I don't think I'd order another special occasion cake from here again.

I went in recently and found pumpkin muffins. Where the heck can you get great pumpkin muffins in the summer? They were big and delicious. I'm glad I bought extra to keep in my freezer. I do wish they had tongs. I'm not a fan of people sticking their hands inside the case to get things, although they do have papers that you are supposed to use. I generally always see people using them, but it still would be more sanitary if they provided tongs. I find the prices to be reasonable, and the employees are friendly. Just be aware that there is an additional fee for using a card to pay, whether it is debit or credit. And should you require a box and not a paper bag for your purchases, you pay $.50 for it. I recommend that you give this place a try. I have told others about it and they now enjoy stopping in.

We made a brunch reservation for 11:30am, though we ended up ordering off the regular menu rather than brunch. That was the first odd note of the afternoon. Before the appetizers, they brought out focaccia with herbed butter, a nice alternative to the standard bread basket. The calamari appetizer with marinara and tartar sauce was fine, nothing memorable. My mom's eggplant parmesan arrived warm but not hot and cooled down quickly. The pizzas, a Funghi and a Margherita, were cooked well in the stone oven and were genuinely the best thing on the table, but they arrived warm and cooled down quickly, the same issue as my mom's eggplant parmesan. With the air conditioning blowing directly overhead, hot food didn't really stand a chance. The service is where things unraveled. When we were first seated, the manager came by and helped with my dad's walker, which was a nice touch. After that it went downhill. When my dad asked for something light, the waiter recommended the carbonara, a dish built on guanciale, grana, egg, and black pepper. That's not light by any definition. It's a basic gap in menu knowledge that does the guest a disservice. The menu also had salmon, ricotta toast, and eggs in purgatory. My dad also asked for red pepper flakes to go with his pizza and they took unusually long to arrive, so he had to flag down a different waiter to get them. The waiter noticed I was drinking my Bloody Mary slowly and offered a different version that actually tasted better. If there's a preferred version, lead with it. When I made eye contact to signal we were ready to pay, he acknowledged it but continued socializing with a coworker before finally coming over and taking my card, as if he was surprised we wanted to pay. When a customer is ready, they're ready. He took my card, asked if we wanted dessert, went to grab the dessert menu, then handed it back. Just hold onto the card. I'm paying with the same card regardless. Handing it back makes no sense. The restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious, with a full bar, outdoor seating, a small store at the entrance, and a vegetable garden out front. It's a great setting. Dinner service might be a different experience, but on this visit the dining room wasn't particularly full, which made it more noticeable that the staff prioritized socializing over the guests in front of them. For the record, the suggested tip on the receipt started at 18%. On the way out, two hostesses stood by and did nothing while my parents, one of whom was on a walker, made their way to the door on their own. Getting the door is common courtesy for the elderly. Pietro's has the ingredients of a great restaurant. The space is beautiful, the stone oven pizza is genuinely good, and the brunch menu has real potential. But a restaurant is only as good as its execution, and right now the service and the food temperatures are letting the kitchen down. They just need to meet it.

This place is nestled between Papapavlos and First Toast and they all share the outdoor seating space. By 10am it started to fill up. My friend and I both wanted a latte as we saw some cute pics on Yelp of their coffee art. I would say that I was disappointed, however both girls told us they were practicing so I figured why not. We asked for cups but they gave it to us in a to go cup with a lid...no point in coffee art if it's going to be covered up lol. After I took off the lid I understood why LOL. At least she warned us and tried. The coffee itself was pretty good, nothing that stood out though. It's a cute shop, with a minimalist/nature feel inside...real cozy. I eyed the Chocolate Chip cookie and anyone who knows me knows it's hard for me to resist a CC. There were many fresh choices available. Lots of different scones of course. Back to what I came for... the tasty vanilla cream was smooth and woven throughout the layers of this pastry. The strawberries on top were sweet along with that jam right on top of the soft, pillowy bun. The chocolate chip cookie was warm and buttery. I had a bite and a couple bites of the bun. On a next visit I'll have a regular cinnamon bun. The strawberry one was fun though. Give it a shot, they have chairs and small tables outside. It's a beautiful morning.
