We cycled 5 miles to the Cinnamon Bear Country Store in Harbour Town knowing we were cutting it very close to closing time... and rolled in with 5 minutes to spare Stepping inside felt like walking into an old-school sweet shop from another era. Tucked just steps from the historic harbour and the iconic red-and-white lighthouse, the place is packed with charm, nostalgia, sweets, and homemade ice cream. Still sweating from the ride, I scanned the flavours and landed on a split single scoop in a waffle cone: Rum & Raisin (my dad's favourite, so had to do it) and Rum Black Cherry. Both were excellent. Super smooth, creamy, and clearly really well made without being overly sweet. The staff were incredibly friendly and got all of us served quickly despite us arriving right before closing. We took our cones outside and sat in the classic red rocking chairs overlooking the harbour as the evening settled in. One of those simple holiday moments that just feels perfect. I remember visiting Cinnamon Bear years ago during my very first visit to HHI, and this visit brought back such memories and had an since of nostalgia. This is still such a beautiful area of the island and a very pleasant experience. I purchased Strawberry Cheesecake and Caramel Nut Cheesecake scoops on a waffle cone and my wife had the same. The customer service was terrible, definitely some of the worst i've experienced, but the ice cream was good. We walked in and as we were ordering I was being stared down by the older lady at the cash register. The man who took my order spoke blandly that I could hardly hear him and as if he wanted to leave on the spot. As I was about to pay the older lady kept asking "how many more" after every member of my party got their food and then kept having us clarify our order 5 times, like is that not your job? She then snapped back very rudely with a sharp side eye to a member of my party when they had some confusion. I don't know of any other establishment where it is acceptable to put your hands on a customer, but here it must be because that's exactly what happened when several of my party members held their cards up to try to pay and she smacked their hands!!! Dozens of flavors with gluten free and dairy free options in various cup and cone sizes. Outside seating only. Sit marina side and you can people watch and maybe catch some live music. 1st place our family dined in while on vacation. Good ice cream selection, very tiny place though and very chaotic for sure. Probably because they have 2 stores in 1. I got a float soda and the float is huge but does not come with lids so it may be spilled. There are also 2-3 tables to sit outside. The staffs are friendly and take care of needs. Unfortunately I can only recommend this place 50/50 because our political views clashed but otherwise, their ice creams are good. read more

Stopped in for the first time while on vacation and ordered a chocolate malt. I waited for it for a while and then at one point one of the 5 employees behind the counter said did you order the malt. I said yes. She then handed it to me and said sorry it's been sitting here a while. I said it's probably chocolate milk by now isn't it and yes it was. She said sorry and handed it to me. For $10 in a small styrofoam cup it was a sad ice cream stop. Can't recommend it unfortunately. read more

Let's get this straight, when you come from America's dairy land; Wisconsin, you become accustom to eating ice cream, but not all ice creams are equal. My family and I come to HHI every year, but this is the first time that we tried this place. My favourite flavour is MINT... Whether I am having frozen custard, frozen yogurt, sherbet, gelato, sorbet, water ice or soft served ice cream, my spoon doesn't go for the gold, it goes for the green. During this visit I had the Mint Chocolate Chip, my kids had the Monster Cookie (They chose it because of its name) and my wife had a butter pecan shake. Her shake was good, though I am not a fan of butter pecan. I really enjoyed my mint and so did my kids, they did not like the Monster Cookie ice cream and after talking to someone at Cinnamon Bear, they kindly refunded us the money for it. (This was very nice of them). The ice cream here is good, though not exceptional. I thought the service here was great. When we purchased the ice cream, we bought two double cups, though we asked the guy if he could put one into two single cups, he said he could put more if he put them into the double cup, so we were able to receive more, plus he gave us an extra cup so the kids could share. Some places are stingy and will not give extra cups, etc... as they could use them to make more money. Here, they do not mind, which is very nice of them. Based on the great service and the quality of the ice cream, I'll give them 4 stars. [Heads up before coming here] Cinnamon Bear is located in Harbor Town off Hilton Head Island within The Sea Pines resort. If you are not staying within the resort, you will need to pay $6.00 to get into the resort area (pass the gates) to visit Harbor Town and to visit this store. This is the 2nd time we have been here. The ice cream is phenomenal. Seriously, it is amazing. Today we ordered 2 scoops of the raspberry chocolate chunk ice cream in a cup to share. It is a show stopper. I mean I love raspberry and chocolate but the two of these together in one ice cream is absolute heaven. I am not a big ice cream eater. We come to this store ever year for one reason- jelly. They sell a Peach Pecan Jelly that is out of this world. We always buy some to enjoy while in HHI, and some for when we get home. This store also has Hilton Head Island souvenirs and kids toys. There is also a soda fountain and ice cream bar at this store. They serve Edy's Ice Cream in cups, cones, or waffle cones. Get one to go and walk around the building to the red rocking chairs overlooking the harbour. read more

There was also a gift shop for the kids to wander. Little Jimmy, my youngest (of 17), started eating molted milk balls when I wasn't looking! Line was super long, but moved very fast so that was wonderful. I love a quick service food source, even if it is just ice cream. The ice cream was DELICIOUS and worth the wait. One scoop would have been plenty because the portions are so large. In the pic posted is two scoops. The only thing that could've made my experience better would have been a chocolate dipped waffle cone instead of a plain one. read more

Hello Carolers! Had a recent visit to the Cinnamon Bear Country Store with the kids and was quite impressed! There was a decent variety of flavors to dabble through but, my eldest Ashleigh was disappointed by the lack of chocolaty flavors. The free sprinkles were an exciting touch to the experience. Yet, I found myself displeased with the cramped store and lack of seating areas nearby. All was forgiven once I had a taste of the velvety cookies and cream scoop. With its incredulous scoop sizes and delicious bite of sweetness, it was a wild ride my tastebuds won't soon forget! One scoop should be enough to tame those nasty ice cream cravings. Cinnamon Bear is a great place to stop by for ice cream if you are staying near Harbour Town on HHI. They are a cute little store with ice cream in the back. They are also open late, a nice plus. I had the waffle cone with a single scoop of java chunk, and my husband had a double scoop cup of the special flavor, sea salt caramel. They are generous with their scoops, the ice cream is nice and creamy, and the pricing was comparable to other ice cream shops (both of ours were $10.51). Definitely give them a try if you want a sweet treat! read more

There are a lot of great places to eat and get treats, including ice cream and shakes, on Hilton Head Island (HHI). However, this is by far the best place to get ice cream on HHI. Fantastic flavors and free sprinkles. It is important to note how wonderful, welcoming, and nice the staff are that serve the ice cream. Mike, Linda, and Rich (and the rest of their family) are some of the nicest people that you will ever encounter. Highly recommend this place. Great little store with a ton of excellent ice cream choices! The ice cream is seriously som elf the best in HHI, but the coffee leaves something to be desired. While they have the classics on the menu, they aren't the best. This is a terrific little country store with some of the best I've cream, but if it's coffee you're after, I would check out C'est Bon right down the street for a proper espresso beverage. read more

Great store with really good ice cream options (32 flavors to be exact). The store also has knickknacks which are fun to look at when waiting to get to the ice cream counter. They have a ton of workers helping the masses which helps move the line. The only reason that I didn't give them 5 stars is that the store is very, very small when everyone is waiting for ice cream. The line typically winds around the store making it impossible to look at the store contents if you aren't wanting ice cream. Just get the ice cream. Came to get ice cream after dinner and the seemingly innocent 65 year old employee made incredibly inappropriate comments to my friends and I. He stopped us to give nonsensical "advice" telling us to cover our bodies or we are asking to be hypersexualized. Such an inappropriate and uncomfortable conversation for a group of 21 year olds to encounter at the end of our night. Bummer, because everyone else was fabulous and that old man acted like nothing else but an inappropriate pedo. Ice cream was fabulous though. Can't lie about that. read more

This ice cream store was the best I've been to by far! I'm visiting Hilton Head from Oklahoma (home of Braums) and this ice cream was the best I've ever tasted! Their menu is gluten friendly with a few exceptions but a majority of the ice cream was gluten free. Micheal, the owner, was the sweetest man! He was so excited to see his friend who was with us. Absolutely no health precautions taking place due to Covid 19!! This is a small little shop and there were easily 30-40 people jammed in there, nobody wearing masks, nobody distancing!!
