new spinny thing replaced the tire swing (late summer 2010)
    Jennifer L.

The old tire swing is gone and replaced by a more popular spinny thing - upgrade! http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=fDny65qdxn3EJH0PZbCxIw&select=9JvBw6uwB2Ny5Xlxif2wqA They also changed the location of the entrance to the park, so you enter and exit the gate from the street, instead of from the other fenced in park area. Other than that, it seems pretty much the same. It would've been nice if they'd upgraded the latch on the gate, but no change so far.

This is my dog after a large German Shepherd attacked him at this park. WATCH OVER YOUR DOGS, OWN UP.
    Tephany P.

DO NOT VISIT THIS PARK WHEN CERTAIN DOGS ARE AROUND. I have a 23 pound shiba inu named Luka that was attacked and tossed around by a large German Shepherd dog. The owner did not do anything to control his dog. The German Shepherd ripped off a patch of my dog's hair and bit into his skin causing him to bleed. I have been coming to this park for the last few months and never understood or experienced some of the negative things posted in past reviews until today. If your dog has a history of being violent keep an eye on them.

Fenced dog park where your pouchy pow can roam free and socialize with other dogs. 1. Location is one of the most important aspects of right about anything. This dog park is located next to the school, so lots of parking options available during the evening hours. 2. The park is in Good condition. It is equipped with double gates at the entrance, small & main dog areas, it has light during the evening hours. There are several trash cans & poopy shovels available, so that owners could maintain the clean premisses. The park has a drinking water fountain with the concrete base, and several bows to satisfy the thirst of playing doggies. Bunch of flavorful tennis balls and frisbee plates are also available your furry friend would like to play. 3. It's all about people. Most dog owners I've met here are simply great. Most of them are responsible and interesting people. There are couple of folks I'd like to never see again, but the vast majority are very nice. Most of us come to the park during the same timeframe. I like this park, my doggie LOVES it.

Small play structure and spiny wheel thing
    Vincent W.

This little park is just okay. It's mostly for neighborhood kids or the kids that come here to play after school. It's got a small play structure and a wheel that spins around. The part I don't like about this park is that it has wood chips for the flooring as opposed to the rubberized Mat surface. It's a small place but it'll do the job of getting some of the kiddos energy out.

Nice families with good dogs. Lots of space for the dogs to play and exercise. The walk to the park is a good cool down as well.

Good park but people just let their dogs go and then walk away. There are better parks down the street.

There's also some overgrown Weeds onto one side of the field, so I'm sure there is bunnies or groundhog that live in there cause my dogs are always always sniffing around! Lol There is a small dog park and a little dog park along with a dog fountain and hose out in front. There's also a bathroom for women nearby. There's also a really nice trail and some cool art sculptures and interactive art pieces at the top of the hill if you walk all the way up. This particular day my dogs were tired and didn't want to walk all the way up so we just walked around the park for 30 minutes and got to play with dogs And then we left.

I was also concerned because there is no division for small and large dogs and my dogs are small. I came on a Sunday around 1pm and it was not crowded at all and I easily found parking on the street. I have to say, the park is beautiful. There are a few picnic tables but be warned, if it is a hot day there is no shade at the tables. That being said, there is plenty of shade in other areas just no where to sit if you need to. There is a water fountain for the dogs and trash cans at the entrance. Thank goodness! No having to put used poo bags in the car for the ride home. It is great to walk around the park but keep in mind it is on a hill. I can also imagine this place gets very muddy in the winter. We found all the people there to be friendly as well as the dogs. Most of the dogs there that day were big dogs but my dogs did manage to find some that would play with them.

I try to get Little Sweets out of the house once in a while to see new things. My aunt still has his sister and he can get lonely - he copes by playing video games in his bedroom and he can't stand my spoiled cat MrMoose with his demanding SCREAMmeows all day. Its time to get him out of the house. Let him sniff something. Lots of dogs here for him to sniff. They can do some sniff swapping or flea swapping or whatever they do - I don't mind - he is on some good flea control stuff. The fenced area is safe for roaming and decorated in small metal dog shapes. Near is the waterway. It is pleasant. This city has more waterways than I ever knew existed. From a look on the map all manmade. There is a larger park nearby too. All of this is under larger power lines. I think that is good use of land space. Not much more could go under here.... but my friend Johnny would tell you not to spend too much time here because of EMF or something or another.

Also, there was a sign on the fence that advised this was Smith Field Coastside Dog Park so we thought we might have been at the wrong location. Nevertheless, we could see some pups inside having fun so we decided to head in. As we were approaching the gate, a woman was leaving with a gorgeous labradoodle but as they got closer it appeared the dog was soaking wet. The pup came up for some friendly pets and muddy paw prints on my husbands pants confirmed it. When we looked inside, every dog seemed to be wet, which was strange as there had been no rain and all I could see was dry bark. However, this and the fact that it was all larger dogs at play and we have a smaller pup, added to our initial hesitation. We decided to take a chance, as we were already there, and our concerns quickly faded as we were greeted by the warm and friendly community of dog owners inside. Everyone was welcoming and we felt very comfortable and included. When I asked why most of the pups were wet, they advised there was a hose there and they enjoyed being sprayed with it. The park may not be much to look at, but the genuine friendliness and community spirit more than makes up for it. The large fenced area is filled with bark and there are picnic tables to sit at and for the dogs to use as springboards lol. There is also a little shack in case the wind gets to be too much. All the larger dogs were respectful of our older, smaller dog and once she entered, we found that there was a smaller dog inside after all who was prompted to come play upon seeing someone her own size. This park turned out to be one of our best traveling dog park experiences. If you're looking for a place where both you and your dog can make new friends, this is the spot for you.
