I'm writing an updated review now that we have a second dog and take her here for more often. What I wrote in my prior review still stands. This dog park is all dirt and gravel, one of my dogs doesn't like that much on her paws, and it's also terrible for their teeth to be chewing on chuck-it balls with a layer of dirt covered. The dirt + the dog's saliva makes the balls like sandpaper, grinding down dog's teeth. This dog park should be covered with grass like the neighboring field, or at least artificial grass. The grassy field right next to the dog park is such a waste. Why isn't it part of the dog park? I see dogs play on there anyway. It should just be fenced off for dogs only. My second pup comes here regularly. She doesn't mind the dirt and gravel, and she also doesn't play fetch, so this place suits her. She just comes here to play with other dogs and to socialize. In balance, I guess this dog park does its job and is better than nothing. But definitely has room for improvement (like the grass). On the upside, this is the cleanest dog park I've seen. People pick up after their dogs. Hardly any poop. All the dogs are well-trained. Owners are responsible. I've never seen a dog fight here. read more

I have mixed feelings about dog parks. They seem like great places to take your dog until they aren't. Cipriani dog park is a convenient place but also made up of dirt gravel that can do a number on your dog's paws of they are runner. Many owners use the large grass field that's part of the school but it does come with a risk of a fine There are some nice people that go there with their well behaved dogs but there's always that one guy who ruins it for everyone else. I stopped going because of this one owner who has become belligerent and continues to bring his dog who has attacked other dogs and people. The owner has made threatening comments to me and others. He's the type of person you never want to run into anywhere. My suggestion is if you want to go to this park, avoid him and his dog and go after work where many really nice owners congregate with their dogs and behave like adults. read more

I am giving this park 4 stars only because it is a full dirt lot. This causes an issue when it rains. Mud EVERYWHERE and in the far back area, the water isn't easily drained and so the mud stays for quite a while. The city of Belmont should really invest in this park and make it just as nice as the one in Foster City or the other one they just fixed at Laurie Meadows in Belmont. OTHER THAN THAT, this dog park is close to home and a great place for my pup to stretch her legs. The people I've met there so far are great. Dog walkers mid day will bring about 4-6 dogs at a time though, so may want to go at a different time than that. read more

DO NOT VISIT THIS PARK WHEN CERTAIN DOGS ARE AROUND. I have a 23 pound shiba inu named Luka that was attacked and tossed around by a large German Shepherd dog. The owner did not do anything to control his dog. The German Shepherd ripped off a patch of my dog's hair and bit into his skin causing him to bleed. I have been coming to this park for the last few months and never understood or experienced some of the negative things posted in past reviews until today. If your dog has a history of being violent keep an eye on them. read more

Fenced dog park where your pouchy pow can roam free and socialize with other dogs. 1. Location is one of the most important aspects of right about anything. This dog park is located next to the school, so lots of parking options available during the evening hours. 2. The park is in Good condition. It is equipped with double gates at the entrance, small & main dog areas, it has light during the evening hours. There are several trash cans & poopy shovels available, so that owners could maintain the clean premisses. The park has a drinking water fountain with the concrete base, and several bows to satisfy the thirst of playing doggies. Bunch of flavorful tennis balls and frisbee plates are also available your furry friend would like to play. 3. It's all about people. Most dog owners I've met here are simply great. Most of them are responsible and interesting people. There are couple of folks I'd like to never see again, but the vast majority are very nice. Most of us come to the park during the same timeframe. This little park is just okay. It's mostly for neighborhood kids or the kids that come here to play after school. It's got a small play structure and a wheel that spins around. The part I don't like about this park is that it has wood chips for the flooring as opposed to the rubberized Mat surface. It's a small place but it'll do the job of getting some of the kiddos energy out. read more

I went here today with my 5 month old puppy to burn some of her energy but there was no other dogs in sight! A man came by with two small bichon frise and shitzu mixes but they didn't want to play with Abbie. I spent the whole time trying to keep her away from trying to play with them as they were upset. They soon left and we were alone. We just spent 15 or so minutes running around and playing fetch. The dog park is a nice size for a medium sized dog as I can easily keep an eye on her while she still has enough running space to get her sprints in. It was pretty clean of poop and mostly dirt covered with some muddy spots. There were a couple benches and one picnic bench. My biggest gripe was that the dirt under the fence between the small dog and big dog park was missing in places so that small dogs can get through. Abbie isn't that small anymore but she's very flexible and skinny so I had to pay extra attention that she didn't escape. This would definitely be a big reason for me not to go back if I had a small dog I wanted to keep out of reach of the big ones next door but Abbie does fine among big dogs. However, the main reason I won't go back is that the park was a total ghost town. read more

There's a small dog and a bigger dog fenced section. The bigger dog section is spacious and enough rooms for the dogs to roam, play fetch, chase each other or what not. However, the smaller dog section is very narrow, small, and pretty claustrophobic. So unless your small dog is like the size of a mouse, then I don't think he or she would enjoy it much. I didn't enjoy it as a human and it felt like jail for me. I ended up letting my small dog mingle with the big guys, which others ended up doing as well. The small dog section was empty. read more

Medium sized fenced dirt area with a smaller fenced "small dog" section adjacent. Kind of bare bones and we found it annoying to get to (but we did take the long way around). It was muddy when we were there (two days after rain) and a woman showed up with five dogs (breaking the rule of "3 dogs per person, max"). So we ended up moving on. read more

Big, often unruly and uncontrolled dogs rule the roost here. There is a very small area for small dogs, no bigger than most backyards. Plenty of stuff sitting on the dirt for a dog to play with, but most of it already punctured or decimated by the macho dogs that roam and intimidate and have actually injured a few PEOPLE (my wife included)! If you need a dog park and this is convenient it will do in a pinch, but go at weird times, very early morning, near dusk, off times so that you can avoid the slaughter. If you are willing to drive a little further, there are better doggy park options in Redwood Shores and definitely in San Mateo at the bay shoreline, think it is called Seal Point. And if your dog is good on the leash try Water Dog Park just a few minutes away works well too. 2 Tips: If you do go and drive in from the Monserat Ave entrance, take it VERY slowly entering the school driveway or you will bottom out. There are gouges in the pavement for proof. And bring your lead and leash your dog before he/she/it gets out of your vehicle, there are often school age children around (this is an elementary school) and there is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the doggy park. You don't want your never-properly-trained Rottweiler to leap unleashed from your gas-guzzling SUV in the parking lot and rudely introduce himself to little 9 year old Jimmy as Jimmy heads to the basketball court. The ensuing legal action and bad publicity will make it impossible for you to hold down a job in order to afford the gas for that SUV, so you will actually have to street walk your Rottweiler on a lead regardless. read more

Small, small park. They added trees recently which is a bonus. My young hyper dog can hop the fence (only about 3.5 ft or so) though to access the green green grass where the children play, so we won't be coming here much, even though it is the closest one to our house. read more

I don't know why people are hating this dog park. They have a huge space for the location in Belmont. It is odd that it's located right next to a school and I was confused about the entrance at first but you'll know once you get down and walk to it. My dogs had fun there and I get to sit down and read my book. Win-win for us read more

Man alive. I had forgotten how much I dislike this park until today. Well, not forgotten so much as lapsed into a "hey, I'll just cut through the dogpark, what could possibly go wrong?" sense of delusional safety. It was early morning and there were three dogs in the park. Two of the three were obnoxiously territorial and kept leaping up and onto my large dog's face and then running around to nip at his back legs. The owner was scooping poop (bless her heart for that, anyway) and was half-heartedly telling her Beagle mix, "Daisy, don't do that. Daisy. Daisy. Daisy?". I finally yelled at her dog to STOP IT NOW and she ran back to the owner, who stared at me like I was The Gorgon. Some dogs don't enjoy dogparks. Some dogs enjoy them but consider them as private property and patrol them as such. Some owners secretly admire their dog's bully behavior and let them act out, spewing platitudes like "He's a DOG, what do you expect?", or "They have to work it out" (to explain why they are allowing their dog to scare or attack another dog). I don't agree with those sentiments. I'm responsible for my dog's behavior and will act to stop him from being aggressive or rude, but I will also protect him from the ignorant and unsocialized out there. But mostly, I won't be going anywhere near the dogparks, especially this one. read more

Easy parking and friendly locals make this a great park! Directly behind an elementary school, there is a big area for all dogs and a smaller area for small dogs. Trash cans and scoops all around the park make it easy for cleanup (and most owners are good stewards of the park) and there's a water fountain with lots of extra bowls for hydrating your dog. Plenty of benches to relax at while your dog plays and many odd tennis balls lying around if you forget yours. Great local park! read more

The Cipriani Dog Park is directly behind the Cipriani elementary school. It's a nice enough park -- fenced, water, random toys, benches to sit on, etc. There's a smaller fenced space for small dogs - although no one tends to use it. read more

This is a great park to stop at on a long walk. Its big but not huge, has water and toys and friendly dogs (and nice owners). We stop often when heading down the 280. There is not a whole lot of shade so warm days can get REALLY warm for the fluffier breeds. read more

First time here and also my last. There were a lot of aggressive dogs here. A lot of the owners didn't do anything to separate them. My dog is usually the one to try and break it up but they started coming after him. I called my dog to stay with me away from the dogs but the dogs came to our area! I had to put a leash on my dog so even though the dogs were aggressive in our area I knew my dog was safe. Once I did that, a lady finally said something to her dog but didn't physically do anything. I was so upset I left that park. I was not going to let my dog be bullied by other dogs and bystanders not doing a damn thing. There was also a man patrolling me on picking up my dogs poop. I was talking to my husband and sister and he rudely interrupted " your dog pooped over there, go pick it up" I apologized because I didn't see and he said "oh I know you were in a conversation" I know not everyone is like this but I'm new to the area and this was not a great first impression. read more

Difficult to find in a somewhat inconvenient place and is more of a "locals only" dog park, but is in a nice, safe residential area of Belmont off upper Ralston Ave/92/280 at Cipriani behind a school. This review is mainly for the large dog section. The surface is fine sand/dirt so 3/4 of the year the wind stirs up the dust and sand and it get's everywhere because Belmont is usually windy, and in winter this place is a mud-bath and typically not usable unless you're planning on taking your dogs for baths afterwards anyway (nice self-wash at Pet Food Express on Ralston & El Camino). Some shade for both dogs and humans as it can get quite hot in summer, plenty of benches to sit, water, and toys for dogs. Pooper-scoopers and trash bins but no bags provided. Separate small and large dog areas, and double-gates at the two entrances for escapees. There's plenty of parking after school's out; port-a-potty in the parking lot. Size of large dog area: M. Size of little dog area: XS (so several owners bring their small dogs over to the large dog area). There are rarely more than 10-12 people/dogs at this dog park (avg is probably 4-6), so best to arrange to meet another dog owner there. To find this difficult-to-find dog park: turn north towards San Mateo on Cipriani off Ralston and then take a left on Buena Vista. When Buena Vista dead ends at Montserat in two blocks, turn left at the stop sign and then immediately turn left again into an uphill driveway that leads to the parking lot of Cipriani Elementary; park at the end of the lot by the port-a-potty. You'll see an opening in the fence that leads down to the dog park (it's not visible from the parking lot or any street). A bonus: this dog park has lighting and is open late. I'm taking one star off my rating due to inconvenient location, dust/dirt blowing, very muddy conditions in winter, and lack of a real public restroom. read more

Aggressive dogs I've been taking my dogs to this park for a few years with no problems until today. When I arrived there were about 5 dogs running loose including a pair of Pitbull mixes, one was named Libby. I normally release my dog to run, which I did today. These two dogs decided to gang up on my dog in the corner while one humped my dog and the other kept nipping at his face. When I asked them to get their dogs off off mine , their reply was they are just playing and to take it down a notch. Sorry, aggressive dogs and idiot owners ha e no place in a off-leash dog park. My dog kept trying to get away and wouldn't respond to a recall command which only added to my anger. One I wax able to separate my dog, I discovered he was bleeding from mouth and nose. While calming down and checking my dog for other injuries, the owners and dogs left, never seen them before and I hope to never see them again, if I do, an immediate call to animal control will be made along with license plate number. read more

Definitely a neighborhood dog park. People all know each other's names and their dogs' names. That was a nice "feeling", because they were also welcoming to new comers like us. There is a very small fenced small dog section, but no other dogs were there at all, so we took our chihuahua mix to mingle with the "big" dogs. Apparently some of the dogs were more aggressive, but when they left our girl was more social, she even stole another dog's tennis ball! The place was very open so dogs can roam if they felt like it, but not much else to report about the facilities. read more

Disappointing, the dog area was chained shut :( my poor doggies were very upset that they could not run.

I took my 8 month German Shorthaired Pointer here today. When I got there there were three other people, 2 people with calm dogs and a professional dog sitter with about 8 dogs. Two of the pro's dogs were very agressive towards my pup, but to her credit she tried to separate them, and when those two wouldn't leave mine alone she took them all home (the rules state you can only have 3 dogs per person there anyway, so she was already in violation of park rules. After the mean dogs left mine had a blast. There was a nice breeze, and lots of parking, and a water fountain for the pooches. Not the nicest park but great for throwing a ball a long ways. She came home exhausted. I also like the double gate system- makes getting the harness back on very easy. read more

I sometimes take my dog here but not when it has rained. The ground is sand and gravel so it becomes messy quick. There are two parts; big dogs and small dogs. There are a few trees and pooper scoopers, garbage cans and water hole. I prefer other dog parks but if I am walking her, we sometimes end up here. read more

archie and i visit cipriani dog park on sundays, when our favorite is closed. cipriani is very large, double-gated with a picnic table & benches, water for peeps and dogs, tiny bit of shade and all dirt. while i am grateful for every dog park, san carlos dog park is our fave. corner of san carlos blvd and elm, same block as city hall, library, etc. large enough, trees, shade, dirt & grass, poop bags, benches and picnic tables, water fountains, double gated. very nice dogs and their humans are very nice...it is the best part of my day. read more
