I dealt with Claire - scheduled an appointment easily, got multiple texts confirming the appointment and did not have to wait at all. Claire was incredibly pleasant and professional and walked me through the options for selling a diamond ring I had unexpectedly inherited. She made an offer - which was lower than I hoped. We went through the steps to get the stone GIA assessed, which was able to increase the offer. Did I sell it below its value? No idea. Maybe - but I got the price I wanted so I guess we were both happy with the exchange. She followed up as did Jeanetta about processing the payment. AND I just now got a fed ex gift box of chocolates thanking me for my business and selling the ring through them?!? To me - that's a kind of 'classy' touch / above & beyond. circa Newport my appointment was at 12noon I was left waiting for 20 min. when I was finally greeted no apology or explanation for the wait . My ring is IGI CERTIFIED 2.21 carot weight cut grade ideal color D clarity grade VVS2. original price $10,520 for just the center diamond. the setting and ring guards are 3.2 carot total weight from JARODS chosen collection original price $5000. circa deemed my ring invaluable due to a lab grown diamond center stone even though it is IGI certified. The women called the center stone "synthetic ". Lab grown makes it not rare and a few other uneducated comments offering less then $300 for a near flawless ring in my opinion this is not a company who treat's customers or their jewelry with care. Excellent business. The receptionist is warm and welcoming and Wes was a pleasure to deal with. I had a few pieces I was selling and made appointments with with several buyers. I had an appointment earlier in the day with another buyer on Wilshire that starts with an R and ends with and E. That appointment left me rather offended to say the least as I could have received a better offer from a Pawnshop on sunset. I come from a family of jewelers, I know the business and I knew the value of my items. I called CIRCA since I was in the area and they gladly accommodated my last minute appointment. Wes was very friendly from the start despite my casual appearance and the office felt safe and professional. Wes explained the process and gave his basic jewelry buying/selling 101 talk that I can tell he gives to all his first time clients. He was very honest with his approach and his explanation of the process was really upfront. I can tell he takes great care to not offend people because hey, we all think our stuff is worth a fortune right?? When Wes made his assessment of my jewelry, his offer was absolutely fair and and up to 40% better than previous offers I have received. I liked Wes and Circa so much I made a deal right then. From the receptionist welcoming my brother and me to being introduced to Wes we were made to feel right at home. I have had my items appraised with Gia certificates, and I was offered l, as I said 5 cents to a dollar value (maybe even less) If you are in distress and want to sell your $30k jewelry for $2k, then this is the place for you. They were also willing to pay $2k for a $9k item.. so clearly no logic went into the offer, seemed like she was just decided what number to write in the offer. It was our first visit to CIRCA and we were SO impressed. We arrived 45 minutes early because traffic was a breeze, and Wes greeted us promptly and offered us coffee/water. Within three minutes, Adriana invited us into her office. Both were happy to accommodate us early. Most places would make you wait until your scheduled appointment time! Adriana spent two hours with us. We had a lot of my mother's old jewelry to sell/consign, much of it from the 1950s. Adriana is highly skilled and honest. We appreciated that she took the time to examine each piece and quote us what CIRCA would offer. There was no pressure at all and we were given the option to reject any offer she put on the table. Look, to the person who criticized CIRCA for insulting her intelligence with low-ball figures, come on down from your ivory tower. Unless you own the Hope Diamond, jewelry is not an investment that will make you rich. There's a huge markup, even when you're buying at trade shows. Chances are you have an inflated idea of what your collection is worth and reality is a shock. Sorry about that. It's not CIRCA's fault. We fully expected offers of maybe 25%-40% of what mom paid for at retail, and that's the range we got. A check was issued on the spot. Adriana also retained four pieces on consignment and we're hoping there's a buyer for them. Again, the $ range was more than adequate and to our expectations.
