Solid BBQ outside of Liberty. Two weeks ago we drove past and saw this building with a parking lot PACKED full of cars. When I saw the wood stacked in the back, I knew this had to be a BBQ joint. How did I miss it a dozen times before?! Well they are only open weekends, so you've got to hit them at the right time. Friday nights is a burnt ends special and Saturday is a brisket special. They make their own desserts! We got a lb of pulled pork, a pint of green beans and a pint of Mac and cheese to go. We did not get any sauce since they told us the pork was pre sauced, and gave us a sample! When we got to our house in Brevard we dug in! Y'all - that pork was good South Carolina bbq! They had done it with a SPICY vinegar, I'd bet by bottom dollar. My mouth was feeling that heat! Mac and cheese was very good and so were the green beans. I fussed at my husband for not getting dessert! Next time. They also gave us some buns so we could make sandwiches. My husband said the interior was spotless, and the staff was very friendly. I love Circle M. Y'all... I LOVE Circle M. I knew I had to leave another review once I heard Marion retired. Rest assured, the quality is the same. Slow-smoked whole-hog barbecue, seasoned with that same delicious vinegar sauce. The marinated slaw is still tangy and delicious as ever, and the beans are fantastic as always. It pains me to suggest that they could improve on anything Marion was doing, but the new side dishes and *gasp* DESSERTS are a very welcome addition to the menu. I had their mac and cheese, which was perfect, and tried their cake and banana pudding for dessert, neither of which disappointed. I hear they're going to add brisket soon, so it was fitting that they added a tasty sweet mild and sweet hot sauce for those that simply must have it. The interior has been upgraded. Music livens up what once had been a slightly awkward silent dining room. The fireplace was crackling, and the staff was wonderfully friendly. To the new management, well done! This is the best bbq around if you like low country or eastern North Carolina style bbq! I'm a fan, yep. This isn't your typical BBQ place, it's fairly special, one of the last of a dying breed of whole-hog BBQ places in the USA, you have to appreciate the process that the folks take. the dry rub is added in a very nice and thick crust to the meat, you'd think by looking at it it's going to overpower you but it doesn't, a bold but mellow addition to the meat. We ended up getting a ribs, chicken, beans, and one of the hot dogs. The hot dog was to die for! they smoke the dog, top it with pulled pork and slaw. FUN! 5 stars. the ribs we got were not the best cut, and that's fine, we did not order the whole slab so what they gave us was adequate for the cut we got. The ribs are tender, you can taste the flavor of the rub and the smoke, and the meat itself, 3.5 stars. Chicken was 4 stars, very juicy, not dry at all, the rub also here is a very great compliment. What's fantastic about this place is the price!! We got a plate and a side and shared between the two of us, and if I recall it was about 22$. both of us left under 30 sampling everything you see in this review, which is rare for us. The slaw is a vinegar base (like the sauce they provide) and it was good - 4 stars. The Brunswick stew for me was a little flat and I'd give it a 3 star. The beans were great, 4 star. The atmosphere is fantastic! situated in a old ranch style log building with a fireplace inside, and the windows facing a horse farm, you feel like you are in the country enjoying the BBQ in the setting it's supposed to be in. If you have kids, they will probably love seeing the horses, as we sat there a mother and her little girl went and a horse came right up to them, and they pet the horse. the folks here are fantastic, 5 stars on the customer service, polite, friendly, and patient. I will come back. Is it destination BBQ? I'd say if you are within 40 minutes or so of here, make the trip. You probably wonder how I can talk highly about a place and not land it on a five star - I'm probably more of a Texas BBQ style fan than general SE BBQ. The Vinegar base is strong with this BBQ, and strong in the sauce. When I think about overall score, the ribs is where I really attribute a lot of my value, and they fell a little short on the single trip I've made. I do certainly intend to post a review when visiting again, which I do plan to return. read more

Wow and wow again y'all! We have passed by this place several times and tonight we let our curiosity steer us in the parking lot. When we entered, we were greeted by some nice ladies who talked us through the menu. It's a simple menu but it packs lots of huge flavor. We settled on the 3 way so we could taste the pulled pork, ribs and the chicken! We chose the coleslaw and baked beans for our sides and we each also got the Brunswick stew so we would not have to share. The food total was $26 that included our bottomless tea. Once you order and pay, you grab a tray, collect your food and drinks and make your way to the table of your choice. Large open dining area where the large fireplace is the main focus and lends to the ambience of the space, as well as heat. The meat is cooked over hickory which is a popular low country method and includes pepper and vinegar seasoning. The ribs were some of the best I have ever had, I could have chewed the bones because it was all so tasty. The chicken was moist on the bone and the flavor was delicious. The coleslaw was good, but I could only afford a couple of bites because their slaw included onions and I have a allergy. The Brunswick stew, and the pulled pork were delicious and very unique and all had good portions. This entire experience was great and we loved the friendliness and sense of comfort and community throughout. We will be back and I intend to be hungry and order lots more ribs and pulled pork because they were my favorite. read more

This bbq is great ! Its a tad spicy but the bbq meat was great as well as the chicken!!

The whole hog park is special. If you know about Scott's in Hemmingway, you could compare it to Circle M. It doesn't need extra sauce as they must mix some in when they pull it; the sauce in the meat is vinegar based with a bit of a kick perhaps from paprika and other spices. This is the best pork BBQ in the entire Upstate of SC and that is saying something, with great places like Smokin' Pig and Bubba's also in the upcountry. The smoked chicken has a deep rub and is juicy, especially the dark meat. The surprise on the menu is the Circle M Dog, a smoked wiener, topped with a bit of their pork Q, and a heavy dose of their vinegar based slaw. Other hot dogs see this and claim it's just not fair! read more
