Are. You. Kidding. Me. Delicious. Last year, I unexpectedly discovered that South Carolina might have my favorite BBQ. On our way back from camping in North Carolina we had to make a stop to try a new to us bbq place in SC. So glad we picked this one. I would come back every single day if I could and my body would allow it. Since we were traveling, we shared a combo plate with the ribs, pulled chicken, and pulled pork along with more sides than necessary but that's how I live as well as really good sweet tea. Every single thing was good even the sides which can sometimes take a backseat at bbq places. We tried but couldn't finish it all without dying traveling back, we were able to take the remainder to go and packed it in the cooler and luckily it made it home to finish that night! Did I mention the sauces!! I was sad they didn't have any bottles available to purchase at the time because I'll be dreaming of that hot sauce. Just moved here from NYC 4 months ago. This was the place. A co worker has told me about this, any time I hear "old school or in a non slandering way hole in the wall place" I know it's quality. I hope you guys don't take offense!! This was the BEST BBQ I've had in a LONG TIME! I truly mean that, you can see the smokers from outside! Loved it! The lemonade must've been home made it was delicious! They gave us a pitcher! First order was, ribs/chicken/pulled pork. It was all worth every dime, even though I would've like the ribs to be crispier the flavor was delicious. Big portions also and NOT EXPENSIVE AT ALL!! Fries & onion rings included! Hush puppies! Little sweet corn bread balls! Amazing especially with the butter dip! Mac & cheese we do prefer more cheeses, but still can't complain. The service is friendly and food comes out fast. They have a cozy room with six tables and the walls are decked out with old Coca Cola signs and tons of pig decor. The BBQ sauces are on point! They have a mustard based sauce that was my favorite. It was a creamy tangy mustard flavor. They also have a mild and hot red BBQ sauce that tasted like it was tomato based. We asked for their spiciest option...it's a blend of ghost pepper, Carolina reaper and another pepper that I'm not familiar with but sounded like it would be a doozy. I'm usually not one who can handle the heat, but I thoroughly enjoyed its kick! - Pulled pork plate: Delicious!! Probably half a pound of meat with two sides for less than $8. Worth it! - Ribs: Get this as a combo with the pulled pork and you'll have food for days. The meat falls off the bone and it was super tender and flavorful. - Baked beans: Tasty and has more of a tangy flavor than most baked beans I've had. - Hand cut fries: None of that floppy fries stuff here! These are real solid fries and definitely tasted like they were made right then. - Sweet potato soufflé: melts in your mouth and leaves that warm cinnamon flavor - Mac and cheese: I'm usually not one that will go for Mac and cheese. The aroma of hickory smoke permeates the entire place. The menu consists of pulled pork, chicken and more--sandwiches, plates with two sides, a bun, the usual BBQ stand selections. We both had a pulled pork plate, mine with onion rings and slaw, his with french fries and slaw. Delicious slaw, abundance of fries, and really crispy onion rings. The pork is lean and tender and there are 3 delicious sauces. The servings were so ample we brought home our lunch for the next day in the form of our leftovers!The 1/2 and 1/2 tea was fresh and refreshing. Our adorable waitress, Jessica, was SO accommodating and dedicated to serving us and making sure we were enjoying our meal that she was the frosting on the cake! I rate this as five stars because this is the best BBQ in Greenville, SC. These guys know how to handle a pig. The Chopped Pork, the Ribs and the Chicken are some of the best around. Now, eating at the restaurant isn't for the faint of heart. First, they have a window air-conditioning unit that tends to blow the smell of smoke back into the restaurant so you will leave smelling like a smoked ham. This isn't really a complaint, just an observation. If I want this for the family, I order it to go, I do occasionally take clients here as the dive aspect tends to appeal to those who are only used to our fancier downtown restaurants. The workers are always super-friendly and attentive to your needs when eating. This Wednesday I had a meal catered for a group downtown and event went perfectly, everyone loved the food. It looked so good, I went by Mike & Jeff's on my way home to get my own order of food. Unlike a lot of our other upstate BBQ places, these guys also have great BBQ sauce. Best tasting barbecue in upstate South Carolina. We've tried many and keep going back to Mike and Jeff's. Went today for a late lunch. Had the pulled pork plate with fried okra, hush puppies, and coleslaw. My wife had the same but with onion rings instead of hush puppies. Yum. So good! The pulled pork is smoky excellent. I tried the hot bbq sauce, but my favorite is the mustard-based. Place is small and classic old school (some might say funky, but it is what it is.) Finally tried Mike & Jeff's after months of hearing how great it is.. So glad I did. Definitely a hole in the wall, but the food is outstanding. They have a small seating area or can fix a to-go order in less than 10 minutes.. We opted for to-go. We had two pulled pork plates, one with baked beans and hush puppies and one with onion rings and coleslaw. The plates were piled full and each came with a bun and two sauces.. All for under $18! The pork and the baked beans both had an amazing smokey flavor.. The hush puppies were perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The coleslaw complimented everything well, and I ended up throwing a little bit on my sandwich. They offered mild, hot, or mustard based sauce. I tried the mild and mustard based and enjoyed them both. I mixed them together and was in love. I really wanted to try the mac and cheese but they were out for the evening... We tried a sampler of pulled pork, chicken and ribs. The pulled pork and chicken were excellent...tender, smoky and delicious. The mac & cheese, hushpuppies and homeade banana pudding were also great. The ribs were just OK. Catering review: I was attending an industry even where lunch was provided. Mike and Jeffs was the food of choice for the day and it was delicious. The selection was rather limited: bbq, chicken, baked beans, mac and cheese, and sweet potato pie. I can honestly say everything was delicious Even the hot sauce that I added to the bbq. The meat itself was so tender and juicy without being greasy. Not sure how they did it but they did. All of the sides were great with the mac and cheese being one of the best. The sweet potato pie was a very nice dessert to finish off the meal. I had two full plates and wanted to take more home. I will have to check out the physical restaurant. Awesome food!!! read more

We eat here at least once every time we visit G'burg. My son says the bbq sandwich is the best he has ever had and I am addicted to the Sloppy Jethro. The sides are good too. Your drinks come in a huge glass and the staff keep them filled. Its just a great place to eat and in a quiet section of town on rover road. The mixed drinks are amazing BTW. read more

I may work in the white collar world but I'm a blue collar guy at heart. I love diners, hole in the walls, gritty parts of the city, so when I find a joint in the less desirable part of town with good reviews I'm down. Stopped in on a Sat afternoon around 1, smoke rolling outside, place is a dive, 4-5 tables along with a few barstools. Waitress was a sweetheart, tattooed up, punctuated replies with "sugar, dear, sweetie" on top of her game she covered the whole area w/o missing a beat. Perusing the menu I get the ribs, pulled pork, hush puppies and coleslaw and wife and I split the fried bologna sandwich. Sandwich comes out quick, white bread, mustard only of course. Childhood memories come flooding back. Food came out ribs were ok, pulled pork was tasteless, smokey flavor almost non existent, coleslaw pretty good, hush puppies golden brown and crunchy. Sandwich was great, along with hush puppies, pork however just wasn't good. Maybe this was just a one off but this was my second BBQ stop in as many days. I really wanted to like this place because it's right up my alley however 3 stars imo is right. If I lived in the area I would hit this up again before making a final judgement. read more

I recently ordered to-go from Mike & Jeff's due to the pandemic. All of the food options made it really hard for me to decide so I picked a ton. I got the rib and pulled pork combo. My sides were greenbeans and fried okra. I also got an additional side of macaroni and cheese and sweet potato soufflé and a large sweet tea. The restaurant is definitely text book definition of hole in a wall but had decent parking for maybe 6-7 cars. This place is easy to miss so slow down when approaching. The staff member there was extremely friendly. My order was ready in minutes as I only live about 5 minutes away and left immediately after I ordered. The pulled pork was very juicy and the ribs had a great flavor. Not overcooked or overly smokey like some places. The sauce they gave me was delicious(unsure which it was and was not overly sweet or tangy)I really enjoyed the sides. The mac and cheese is great for those who like their mac on the softer side. The usual suspects and I tried three different lunch choices. We had the large Pulled Pork Plate ($9.95 w/ 2 sides), the small Pulled Chicken Sandwich ($8.95), and a combo of Pulled Pork and Ribs. Both the chicken and pork were ample helpings with good flavor, but a bit dry. That could have been due to our 1pm arrival, as most of the lunch crowd had come and gone. The ribs were cooked to a good temperature and were a good flavor. Both the sides of onion rings and baked beans were just OK, but clearly not house-made. I should mention that as a matter of personal taste, the BBQ was very smoky, a taste akin to liquid smoke. Clearly that taste is popular, based on other reviews, it's just not a personal favorite of mine. I had Mike and Jeff's cater for my large (100+) event at a venue. They were extremely courteous and hospitable throughout the entire process. I was able to edit my order even after I received the original invoice. Ashley gladly made the changes for me and sent out a new invoice promptly. We had chicken, pulled pork, green beans, sweet potato soufflé, and Mac n cheese. All of the food was delicious. Their catering orders also come with 3 types of sauce, sweet tea, lemonade, plastic forks, styrofoam sectioned dinner plates, styrofoam cups, and napkins. The tea and lemonade are not the best quality, but their main focus is the food, which is amazing. Jeff himself came to set up my catering prior to the event. He came early and took care of everything for me. All I did as set up two tables with table clothes. He told me where he put everything and made sure I was okay with the set-up. Hi! I had my first mike & jeffs bbq experience this past weekend. My boyfriend ordered us two Bbq rib & bbq chicken plates with potatoe salad and baked beans and if i have to say my favorite part was those baked beans & I'm picky about baked beans but those babies were good complimented by the creamy potato salad! Now onto the ribs they were meaty and when u want ribs thats how i like em! Im from NC so the sauces are alot different than SC as Im new to Greenville. Im more used to a vinegar based bbq sauce and here it is more of a tang sauce mustard base in SC but no biggie. I liked the ribs texture. Onto my bbq chicken it was rather well a bit on the dry side and a little chewy to chew but i still ate some of it. Ill try other menu items as well next time but overall it was good just make sure your chicken is fall of the bone tender! Just an honest review and to make a NC bbq ketchup based sauce! Service top notch, affordable, and the pulled pork platters were loaded up with a ton of perfectly prepared pork, 2 generous sides (I had the Cole slaw which was perfect and fries). Others at our table had ribs, chicken and sides including Mac & cheese, onion rings and beans. All were delicious. Although this was more than filling, save to for the banana pudding.
