The plus to this location seems to be free pork rind snacks we've never been offered at the Pendelton location. However, the server who offered them took our ticket and ghosted us completely. Never even saw again anywhere. A half hour after we sat down another server showed up with our food, which they somehow messed up. My friend ordered the kids pulled pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw and a banana pudding. They brought the coleslaw ON the sandwich instead of a side of coleslaw. Explained it to waitress number 2 who took the sandwich back to get it corrected and bring us some pork rinds. A couple mins later reappeared with pork rinds and a kids pulled pork sandwich with the coleslaw on the side - like a 1 oz bbq sauce size plastic cup of coleslaw, not a side order of coleslaw. My friend just shook her head and let it ride because now it was almost 45 mins after we sat down. Our receipt wasn't itemized so we couldn't even check to see what we were charged for. This place is very spacious. It's a stand alone building with plenty of parking space. It's designed like a barn house inside. With string lights as their main form of lighting. It's nicely done shabby and chic feel. The ceiling looks like it could be an event space. You order at the counter and they serve you at the table. They have two different barbecue sauces, a mustard base and a sweet base barbecue. That's already at your table. You can ask for their flavored vinegar sauce (which is actually very well seasoned) or their extra spicy sauce from the waiter. I enjoyed the spicy barbecue sauce and the vinegar the most. Staff is very friendly and nice. I got the combo platter with ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. With that it comes with two sides and rolls. The brisket was cooked perfectly it was very tender, but held together well. The mac & cheese was very creamy just the way I like it. French fries were lightly seasoned and crispy. Camping over at Sadler Creek State Park and went into town for some food. Well, the food here was a Solid 10. Husband and I shared the brisket and glazed rib plate with coleslaw (mayo based) and fried okra, and the 4 side plate with Mac n cheese, grits, seasonal broccoli salad, and seasonal strawberry cobbler. We wanted a taste of everything. The brisket was sliced thick with a generous fat cap (could have been removed but not a deal breaker). Son had the jr brisket sandwich and fries which he thoroughly enjoyed. Daughter had the chopped chicken sandwich and fries - she didn't like it but I think her expectations were off; we topped the chicken off with some sauce and it was delightful! Service 10; our server was friendly and interactive made us feel at home. Ambiance 9. Space is rustic and spacious. There's a nice outside space for eating, corn hole, and good for the kids to hang. The bbq I had in SC was next level. I've had plenty of BBQ in my life in many places (FL, GA, AL, TX, NC, TN to name some) and I seriously think SC has the best BBQ... Really good food, but there is no atmosphere. The service is always present and is incredibly helpful and nice. My only complaints are the high prices and the low selection. There is a medium selection, but if you are trying to save money, this isn't the place for that. Barbecue generally is pretty pricey, so I understand. We ordered the usual, the brisket and chicken combo. I chose the jalapeño, cheese grits on the side, as well as coleslaw and ordered sweet tea. I cannot begin to explain how good the food is. I said it before and I'm gonna say it again, the food is melt in your mouth good. How do they get everything to be so tender and taste so good every time is beyond me. Every bite is just amazing! The grits? My oh my! It's heaven in a cup. Arizona, please up your game and learn how to make proper grits, please! The sweet tea is just the right amount of sweet, not, I'm gonna get diabetes sweet! Another thing they have perfected here in the South! All the sauces are made in house. They complement the food really well. They should consider selling them to be honest. They're really good! The restaurant is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday only, that's how good they are. If you get here past 5:00pm on a Friday night, be prepared to wait, for quite a bit of time. Went here on a recent visit, it was a pleasant experience and I would recommend if you are in the mood for Barb-que and are down in the Anderson area. The set up is unique though kind of like a cafeteria style and they serve homade pork rinds at the table pre meal. I am from NC and like our BBQ better but this place is good. read more

On a drive from Annapolis to Marietta we stopped for lunch for a taste of Carolina BBQ. The location appears to be new and has adorable farmhouse-style decor, we opted to eat outside because we were traveling with pups, there were benches around a fire pit that worked, but no true outdoor seating. I ordered the chopped pork sandwich with vinegar and sweet potato fries, hubs ordered a brisket platter with mustard sauce, sweet potato crunch and banana pudding as sides. Overall we were both pleased, the Smokey flavor is great in both meats. The brisket was obviously the more moist cut but was still a little dry. The mustard bbq sauce was right up his alley and he was super pleased with the taste. My chopped pork was dry and I think that the vinegar was missed-- I grabbed more and it made all of the difference (they also may not want to overdo it, which I appreciate-- I could drink vinegar, so I prefer a heavier portion of sauce). The sweet potato crunch was ultimately a sweet potato mash, sweet and tasty. The banana pudding was incredible: super light and sweet it had almost a whipped consistency (rather than a dense pudding) it was incredible and I'm positive it was my husband's favorite part of his meal. I can't say enough good things about the sweet potato fries, they were exceptional. I have a major sweet tooth and these could have been dessert-- thinner slices and a little mushy inside these fries appeared to be doused in honey (tasted like clover honey?) and powdered sugar: they were more like a sibling to funnel cake and a distant cousin to the French fry. Not the best BBQ that I've had but definitely a good showing and would recommend a visit to this sweet southern stop. read more
