Good location if you are driving between Mt Rushmore/Custer/Black Hills and Yellowstone-Teton…read more The owners are really nice, we were greeted by them sitting in front of the office in the evening before check in. They provided us with a big map of Wyoming as soon as we told them we were headed to Yellowstone the next day. They only accept cash or check so make sure you bring either. We paid $21 total for one night tent with warm shower included. The bathrooms are nice and kept clean. There are 8 total showers in the communal bathrooms with 2 shower curtains for extra privacy. The water heated up fast so no complaints there. They also have a Laundromat. The only 'downside' (if you could call it that) is that it got fairly windy during our stay with winds up to 30mph. Since it is fairly close to the mountains it was expected and the owner told us to pitch our tent by their wooden fence for more comfort from the winds. Also, we were greeted by 4 small deer at around 10pm so if you don't like that then maybe you can look for a campsite within the city of Buffalo since this campground is about 5 minutes drive down highway 16. A tip is if you leave early (5am) and head towards Yellowstone you can catch some roaming elk along the way. I would definitely recommend this campground. From the friendly owners to the quiet atmosphere and great bathrooms it really doesn't get much better than this if you are looking for a quick place to stay on your way to Yellowstone. Just make sure you check in before 9pm since that's when the office closes and they don't allow self check-in.
