While trekking is offered many places in the states, I took the opportunity to visit Boler Mountain. The part offers biking, an adventure park, volleyball and many other activities. During the winter, they offer things like skiing. We purchased tickets for the treetop adventure for beginners concluded with the big zip. The Big Zip is an 1100 foot zip line that takes you to the bottom of the mountain and was included in the ticket. Being that this was our first time trekking, we had no clue what to expect , but Madison was extremely helpful with showing us how to utilize our equipment during the demo and we had an amazing time! I would definitely recommend doing the beginners if this is your first time, but if you find that you like it, you should upgrade to the intermediate. I would recommend to wear comfortable tennis shoes as it can be a little bit slippery if your shoes are not sturdy. They also have The Patio where people can order drinks/food and is open in the evening. Special thanks to the entire staff as they were extremely helpful to me and my boyfriend. Cole was very knowledgeable about London and surrounding areas and gave us tons of history and recommendation for the city. Everything was clean here and we didn't encounter any issues. When we arrived to the beginners area, we did not see anyone but it's because the staff was helping someone who was stuck on the zip line. We just went ahead and began the course but usually there is someone there to help you. Luckily, we got through the entire course without an issue. We loved it and hope to visit Boler Mountain again!

If I could give River Valley a negative star I would!!!! We arrived yesterday (Mar7/15) at 2pm only…read moreto discover there was a HUGE line up of people waiting to buy tickets; at least 60 people. After a half hour wait and only moving ahead about 2 feet, I decided to go in to the "lodge" and ask if it would be possible to add a couple of more staff on the ticket booth. I guess with 250 people already on the hill they probably couldn't care less about anyone else being there. Finally after 50 minutes of frustration we got our tickets only to discover that a new rule was put in force and our two grandchildren under 12 had to have a helmet (nice money grab guys!). So after paying damn $85.00 we proceeded to the hill only to discover that there were 6 lineups with about 40 people in each one. So needless to say it was a long exacerbating situation for hundreds of people. Their system for moving the sliders (customers) away from the bottom of the hill was non-existent. So, it took 30 seconds to slide down the hill and approximately another 1 1/2 minute for all 3 lanes to clear before the next group could be released. So, we were at least 20 - 25 minutes just standing in line waiting for a 30 second ride. It was so ridiculous that we left after 4 rides. Therefore each ride was over $5.00 each. BTW: they now have your ticket limited to a 2 hour session. So if you wanted more than 4 rides you have to go through the entire process again buying more tickets.. The grandkids had fun but couldn't understand why they weren't allowed to keep going; that bummed them out. I was planning to sit inside and have a drink and a bite to eat but their (River Valley) greed just irritated me so, we just left. I think a lot of other customers felt the same way because out of the 300 - 350 people wandering around, there was only a handful people eating. When an establishment charges $3.00 for a ten cent bottle of water, I simply walk away. My daughter and I commented about how foolish they are; if they made their prices and systems middle class family friendly, then they would have people returning multiple times throughout the winter. But this way they gouge the livin' shit out of you once and you never return; at least we won't!!

Buckeye Sports Center - Shame on you!!!…read more Saturday of last week I went to Buckeye Sports Center to pickup my skis that were being tuned and to pickup another set of older skis that I attempted to sell at their annual ski swap. My older skis did not sell and I needed to pick them up. I was late picking up my skis as a result of my Father's illness, death and funeral. Buckeye Sports Center informed me that because I was late picking up my skis from the ski swap that I was not entitled to the return of my skis or the 200 dollars that I was attempting to sell them for (for which I was to receive store credit). Please note that Buckeye Sports still had plenty of other skis in back remaining to be picked up, they just for a very odd reason did not have my skis. I gave my return ticket to the store clerk and he stated that their records indicated that someone had already picked up my skis. My response was, "well clearly you gave my skis to the wrong person." The clerk responded, "how do we know that" - implying that I was lying to him. Please note that I have been a customer of Buckeye Sports for several decades and as recently had 4 pairs of skis tuned by them. I asked the clerk to review the situation with the owner of Buckeye Sports who was in back and he did. The owner did not have the respect, nor the character, to speak directly with me and instructed the clerk to tell me that there was nothing ownership was willing to do. Thereby callously disregarding why I was late picking up the skis and completely ignoring the fact that the reason why the skis were not there was because his employees made a mistake and gave my skis to another customer who had similar skis. Mistakes happen, but there is no excuse for Buckeye Sports' poor treatment of me as their customer and unwillingness to correct the mistake that was made by their staff member. Needless to say, I will never shop at Buckeye Sports. Their actions yesterday demonstrate bad business practices and even worse business ethics.

They did an excellent job educating me about my new boat as this is my first boat after purchasing a Hobie Pro Angler from them years ago. They put a lot of time, attention, and detail into prepping my boat so it would be water ready. They worked with me to get all the features on the boat that met my needs. VIP Treatment with the boat pickup as they were flexible with scheduling, had a congratulations sign, everyone walking on the boat took their shoes off, they consistently offered drinks/restroom, their service guys came out to answer technical questions, and they highlighted critically important parts of the manual so I may quickly revisit for review as a lot of information was covered during pick up. They don't just want to sell you, but they want to make sure you are set up for success, you are safe, and you have an all around great experience on the water and with Buckeye. Customer oriented all around. Would recommend anyone give Buckeye the first stop before looking elsewhere.

I had been participating in an event in Waterloo which pretty much took out every hotel from there to Cambridge. It was late, and I needed to be back by 7am. My plan previously was to return home to Toronto and come back in the morning, but the schedules changed and I ended up being there much later than anticipated. I was tired, and desperate. My GPS sent me to this block, and all I wanted was a room to essentially take a long nap. Upon arrival I should have turned back, but again desperation seeped in. The room was dirty, the bathroom was obviously not cleaned, there was food left in the fridge, and the room smelled like a homeless person. Maybe it's aptly named the Mayflower because it smelt like a ship full of English separatists at the end of its 66 day journey. However the room did offer a luxurious waterbed (insert sarcasm meter here --- I felt the bottom of the floor upon getting into it). The pillow was an orange piece of foam in a pillow case. I was told there were no other rooms available, and I spent the next hour going to a few other motels near by without much luck. It was either going to be my car or this dump. Essentially I slept in the chair without changing my clothes. I should have just stayed in the car. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Mayflower+Motel,+1189+Victoria+St+N,+Kitchener,+Waterloo+Regional+Municipality,+Ontario+N2B+3C8,+Canada&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=34.808514,79.013672&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=FfxClwIdsl80-w&split=0&hq=&hnear=Mayflower+Motel,+1189+Victoria+St+N,+Kitchener,+Ontario+N2B+3C8,+Canada&ll=43.471484,-80.453739&spn=0.031144,0.077162&z=14&layer=c&cbll=43.467527,-80.453736&panoid=woxh5LWCNoOODcDNEuBCPA&cbp=12,173.94,,0,12.29

We just returned from our second getaway at this place and it was even better than the first,…read moremostly because of the zip lining which was super fun. The guides take you through it step by step with a focus on safety but also with a bit of humour. They were great with people who are a little skittish with heights but if you really have a problem with heights, it's probably not for you. The facilities are well thought through. There are glamping tents with hard floors and flush toilets and really nice outdoor showers (if you've never had an outdoor shower with the summer sun beating down on you from above, you're missing out). They also have smaller living "pods" which are good in colder wheather with a space heater. The units we stayed in all had power and flush toilets (glamping musts). Other activities available are hiking, mountain biking, archery, boat rental, axe throwing, and probably a few more we didn't try. They even have an observatory but the skies didn't cooperate while we were there to try it out. The staff are friendly and very accommodating of your needs. Good morale among the staff which says something about how the place is run. The food is surprisingly good and they do not gouge you because you are a captive audience (are you taking notes Great Wolf Lodge?) Apparently, their restaurant will be expanded with a new dining room for the 2023 season with more great views of the marsh and Lake Erie. It's great to see a place that celebrates the outdoors flourish like this place has over the years. They seem to have a strong vision for how to evolve and improve the experiences for guests while retaining the wonder of the surrounding area. We'd go back again for sure. Only 2.5 hours from Toronto and zip lining is kinda addictive.
