Circle W takes sandwiches to another level. The Helena is a delicious twist on a classic Italian, the Tannery is a slightly-spicy roast beef, cheese, and onion creation, and the Great Red Ruben hits it out of the park when it comes to hot sandwiches. On top of the sandwiches, Circle W has great coffee, and an eclectic assortment of grocery items from tea to chips to local goods like honey and candles. Pat and her team are bastions of friendliness and service, and Circle W is just about as perfect as a general store could be. read more

In an area with not many food options, this place is really stood out. But it was good enough to have stood out almost anywhere. We stopped by on the way to Hunter Mountain and picked up sandwiches for lunch. Everything was of the highest quality. And the homemade lemon bar was off the hook. I typically don't even like lemon bars, but this one was the perfect combination of sweet and tart with a buttery, flaky crust. The place was so good we stopped back by on our way to New York City and picked up some breakfast sandwiches on bagels to go. They were exactly what you would hope a breakfast sandwich would be. Had amy first great breakfast at Circle W this morning. I hope to have many more. Beautiful store- and so well curated! Everything you need is likely to be there! And it fills such a need in the area where there's no handy food store. Beautiful baked goods- which I can't usually eat because of the gluten- but they have gluten free bread so It was really perfect, sitting with my friends at a sun-filled window table. It's a great restoration of a wonderful old country store & you can't help but feel that the old ghosts that must live there are very happy! Visit soon! read more

The Circle W general store is aesthetically pleasing. The food we had was great, the people here were so kind and awesome, I had a breakfast sandwich and a hot cocoa. We also ordered a piece of coffee cake, so good! The store has everything you need. Toys, milk, bottled water, lemonade and so much more! Over all I love this place, I hope that one day I could drive all the way from Rye NH. Just to eat here would be worth the drive! read more

I consistently went here for a long period of time and the food was always great. I always got the pine grove and was pleased. Never was a fan of the price when it was $10 for a sandwich, but once it got raised to $11 for just a sandwich I had to stop going. Since they raised the price, I've gone once. My boyfriend and I went consistently before and it was one of our favorite places, but I really can't see spending $11 for just one sandwich without chips or a drink or anything. read more

I don't see what the hubbub is about this place, except that there are so few spots in Palenville that this gets good reviews. Everything is VERY EXPENSIVE (think Manhattan rather than Hudson Valley prices) and the service is abysmally slow. Would not come here again. read more

Although unassuming from the outside, come in and enjoy tasty food at the Circle W. We had breakfast here 4 times and loved every visit. They also serve lunch and sell a variety of gourmet items including many international products. The staff provide wonderful and friendly service so you feel like an old friend right away. They primarily serve hot and cold sandwiches but they often have other specials like lasagna, or French toast bread pudding! If you want to eat somewhere that reflects the areas local food and culture I think this is the place. read more

Great general store with exceptional food and a lovely atmosphere. Perfect place to stop for breakfast or lunch before or after a hike in the Catskills. (The avocado toast is the best I ever had. And they carry my favorite brand of bottled iced coffee with almond milk.) Amazingly well-stocked for such a small space. Not only can you find cake mix for an impromptu birthday party, you can also get candles to put on top of the cake, as well as a nice selection of locally made gifts. Wonderful stop along our way to visit the Kaaterskill Falls. We stopped for food and we were not disappointed. The service was great and the food was FRESH.
