I didn't need anything. I just wanted to visit this island nursery. Now I want to create a beautiful greenhouse with exotic plants and bright light. It was a gorgeous Sunday morning and I had the place to myself. I felt like I was in a retreat and loving every peaceful moment. This place is well designed and plants are designated to the spaces specifically for regions they thrive in. No guesswork needed. A bit pricey, but so worth it. Take a walk through and you will be pleasantly surprised. Time to start planting!!

Wow the plants they have here are amazing. Some are on the pricy side but it was definitely worth going here to get my agave for the front yard.

What a lovely nursery. This is such a great spot to get away from Portland and find some truly unique plants. I would totally send even the most finicky person here!

    Unpacking Clematis x cartmanii 'Joe'

Bought a Clematis x cartmanii 'Joe' for my mother in Maine. Cistus was the only nursery in the USA that carries what she wanted. It was well-packed for the cross-country trip and both the shipping and the plant itself were very reasonably priced. My mother couldn't be happier! Thank you.

Now that I'm in Oregon I have a whole new world of plant options to grow and decided a 70 mile trip to Joy Creek would be worthwhile. I saw in the Oregonian that this plant nursery offers informative classes and get-together all summer long. I attended one last Sunday , 8/22/18, about Hydrangeas, learned a ton and got a guided tour of the display gardens featuring some breathtaking specimens. It was the best way to see what plants will look if well cared for when they are mature. Wanting to practice "right plant, right place", I was able to identify some that would do well in the more sun drenched locations of my garden and see how the 10 different hydrangeas I ordered and installed in shade areas last fall would/should do. I've included some photos from Joy Creek's display garden here with their popular names (I did my best!) and picked up many treasures to install. Our Joy Creek guide (?co-owner Maurice Horn) was wonderful and stuck around to answer questions after the tour. All the staff were generous with information and delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies and lemonade were offered to the class attendees. I recommend you visit during blooming season of your favorite plants but I have used their website for most of my mail order purchases over the years. The information provided there is very helpful in making selections and shipping and handling has always been more than reasonable. Joy Creek Nursery is definitely a treasure for those looking for out-of-the-ordinary plant material and a 5 Star experience for me.

This nursery is a great place to visit even if you're not necessarily planning on purchasing plants.

I always loved seeing their flowers as I drove by. I never did stop by, and now I live in Hillsboro. It's not that far of a drive, but I don't drive by very often anymore. Well, I saw a water color painting class event on Facebook being held at Blooming Junction. My sister and I have been really getting into doing water color painting. I signed us both up. I was excited not only for the class, I was really interested in checking out what Blooming Junction had to offer! I'm so glad this opportunity presented itself. Such a lovely nursery, all the plants looked so healthy and well cared for. It's much more than a nursery though. There was a market to buy fresh produce and other sundry items. I was delighted to find Bubbies brand pickles. I find this brand at other stores, but the dill relish has been illusive. I was just thinking to myself this morning while making chickpea salad how I wished I had Bubbies Dill relish..and lo and behold I find it here! So happy! My sister and I strolled around before our class started. Bought a drink in the market to sip on throughout the class. There was a water cooler also in the workshop area. We had fun getting in touch with our creative side! After class ended, we strolled around some more. I ended up getting the Bubbies relish and strawberries. They were so sweet! There are so many things to see besides plants. I am sure I will be back!
