Places like this are hard to find, but they are amazing if you're wanting to go plastic/waste free. They offer everything from Shampoos to cleaners to detergents to teas and herbs. You can bring your own containers or they offer some (donate your old glass containers here!) and they charge by the OZ so you can pick how much you want. The smells on their spray cleaners are ones I don't find in stores, although they do have the basic Lemon or lavender options, they have many different scents to choose from that are low odor and not harsh. I did find some of their stuff was more pricey than I'd like but everything is highly concentrated! So the detergent is 1-2 TBS a load vs 1/4 cup from store brands. read more

Prior to coming here, I've known about this spot through Instagram. I was nearby and wanted to checkout this spot. You'll have to pay for parking unless you are able to grab a spot in front. They had products that come in bulk. You can bring in your clean glass jars that you don't use and they get reused for customers to use to purchase their bulk products. I bought their bath soak, bubble bath soap, and incense. They sell many sustainable products and everything is reasonably priced. Under Kindred Homestead Supply, there is Ronald Records that you should check out if you're nearby. I like that this small business has monthly events going on in their store which I have yet to attend to. I love that Alex brought this idea to Downtown Vancouver because we do not have a place like this close by. I'll be coming back here again in the future! read more

I went in on a whim while on my walk and was so mesmerized that I ended up spending quite a lot of time here . Who needs ten thousand steps when you can get so much more ! They have bulk refillable jars where you can re-fill your supplies according to how much you need instead of buying a whole container . What's more interesting that even though you are shopping in an Insta -worthy store the prices are not like you are breaking bank . They have all kinds of zero waste products for your Toiletries, Garden, kitchen and cleaning needs . In addition to bulk products they also carry low-waste and sustainably made home goods, secondhand and vintage items, and display a wide array of locally made artwork. I've been here a few times now to refill some items - shampoo, laundry detergent, hand soap, safety razor blades, etc. the process is too easy each time. Weigh your container, rare it out, fill the container then when you're being rung up, let them know what the container weight was and they'll ring up the price for the weight of your product. I love their hand soap, specifically the vetiver scent. It's not as drying as most of the other hand soaps I've purchased before which is especially helpful as I wash my hands quite often throughout the day after cooking, cleaning, playing with my dog, etc. You can also get unscented soaps and leave them as is for more sensitive skin, or add your own oils of choice to make a more favorable scent for you. They do have some oils in house, but you can always use your own. They also have centaurs of all kinds for you to use should you not have your own, and other products for the house and garden available. I'm eyeing a set of ramen bowls they've got currently, but have purchased a number of other things from them as well. Namely: wool dryer balls (in the cutest animal patterns possible), a travel sewing kit, fragrant bath salts, beeswax wraps, and a cast iron chain link cleaning tool. After their art fairs they'll usually have leftover items available for free to whomever would like them. Recently they've had paint (sample and standard size house paint canisters from a Home Depot or the like), holiday decor/crafts, fabric swatches, buttons. This is a great shop that offers many options for conscious consumers. First and foremost, they offer containerless products. I really liked the scents and lack of scented stuff offered. There are also fantastic gardener gifts, pots, and products. They also have a large selection of gifts, cards, and home goods that are unusual and also environmentally friendly. This will be my new go-to spot for unique gifts. I think there may have even been tarot reading happening. I ended up at Kindred to attend a clothing swap, not knowing what the 'upstairs' offered. I really enjoyed the swap and joined the mailing list for other events. It's incredible to see shops creating community spaces. I enjoyed talking to other customers and learning about other programs to alleviate stress in our environment. All in all, this is the type of store I want to see grow and thrive in my community. What a neat store! We just popped in to check them out for the first time while visiting the alley flea market they sponsored a couple weekends ago. Since I haven't used any of their products yet, I'll reserve a higher rating for the future, but I certainly liked all the reusable, natural and zero-waste options they offer for various household cleaning and beauty items (like individual dishwasher detergent pods for just .25 cents a pop). Lots of funky and creative decor and gift ideas, too. They did have these tiny little bottle brushes I've been looking for to clean my manual coffee grinder, so I got one of those and that little purchase just made my day as I had been looking all over for one of those and didn't want to resort to having to buy it online at the mega-mart. I absolutely love this store, the owner is the sweetest and so helpful!! The store is very clean and she takes care to sanitize and keep us safe. I had been following this place on social media for weeks, trying to find a good time to go, and finally made it there last weekend. I was not disappointed! They have everything you need at their refilling stations and so many items you didn't know you needed. The owner, Alex, was so nice and helpful when I had questions, and Kate was friendly and prompt behind the counter. We all connected about the effects of the pandemic on small business, and marveled at how people are really stepping up this year with their support. Everyone was wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Alex even stepped outside while I was waiting for the numbers to reduce inside, so I had more time to browse.
