Driving up the NJ Turnpike at 5:00 PM, just short of exit 8, the car's (MB C300) alternator light came on. I immediately got off the Turnpike and parked in the first place available. On my phone I started to search for the nearest auto repair place, with quite a bit of trepidation. It was City Auto in Hightstown, so we headed there. Tony greeted us and immediately put one of his mechanics to work diagnosing. In five minutes they concluded that the alternator had gone bad. He promised to install a new one first thing in the morning. As he was pulling the car into a bay, we noticed a small puddle of brake fluid on the ground. He quickly put the car on the lift and found a corroded brake line. That could have ended bad on the highway! As it was closing time, we retreated to a nearby hotel to await the next day. By 2:00 PM we were back on the highway. City Auto also replaced the rear brakes (which I already were worn out, but hadn't done yet). The prices were low compared to what my northern NJ mechanic charges for similar work. To have an auto emergency on the Turnpike and pull into the first garage and stumble across this honest, capable, eager shop was a miracle. If they weren't 2 hours from my home, I would do all of my auto service there. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CITY AUTO! read more

Wife's aging ML won't start and after swapping a battery didn't do the trick made a appointment with Tony at City Auto Center. Open on Saturday, City took delivery of the truck and promised fast service. On Monday got a call that some corroded wiring had to be replaced and the ML would be ready to pick up that afternoon. Fearing the worst because it was an electrical problem on a 18 year old Benz after all I was pleasantly surprised with an invoice of just over $200.00 and a very pleasant experience for my lovey wife. Not recommended. These guys came in over the estimate. The check engine light came on again just one week after their emissions repair and they took no responsibility. Let me start by saying that these guys are probably the best, most honest and skilled mechanics I have ever encountered. First went to them after a Mercedes dealer service center in Central NJ could not for almost 4 years figure out what a simple issue with my car was. After countless "under warranty" repairs and thousands out of pocket for bogus bent rim and tire changes I got fed up had the dealers head mechanic take a drive and who finally was able to tell me: 1. what the issue was plaguing the car for so many year. 2. that my car was so close to being up on its warranty that MB would probably not cover the repair under warranty and i would have to spend at least $2-3k for the repair. After speaking to Tony and Uppy briefly about a "noise" coming from my car while driving, they told me to just bring the car in and they'll take a look and drive it to see what was up. Literally brought in the car, Tony took a drive, and within 1 block of driving Tony figured out the problem that took multiple mechanics, and Mercedes dealer head mechanic years to figure out. Very happy with the great prompt service and price! Read that he does mostly European cars and my BMW had a loud noise in the engine while driving. The place is huge. He occupies the garage and the defunct gas station adjoining it. Tony took one look and said the crankcase gasket had to be changed. He gave me a quote after making a few calls (all oem parts) and it was $500 less than the dealer price. Car was ready the next morning. I would highly recommend City Auto Center. Took me almost 40 mins drive but well worth it. He gets quite busy because he's very good and fast. If you are a BMW enthusiast (a.k.a. Fanatic) look no further. I saw this shop on another site where all reviews were stellar . . . Then I saw Frank N's review and got a bit spooked . . . I am extremely happy I chose to ignore it. Faced with the prospect of taking my out of warranty 2005 325ci to the dealer and getting raped or taking a chance I chose the latter. The truth is this shop is all those reviews said it was. I had a coolant leak which could have meant significant dollars since it could be anything from the coolant reservoir tank (a.k.a. the expansion tank) up to the whole system. It ended up being a simple hose -cost of repair under $200, While up on the lift the technician noted that my rear brakes were shot (confirmed as I saw the rotors that were taken out). Cost of brake pads and rotors just over $400. Dealer would have socked it to me for sure. My E46 will go nowhere else for service. read more

Save your money for an honest shop. Unfortunately when I received my car back there was a huge scratch and dent (see photo) on the left rear side. When I called to try to understand why I sent my car to be fixed but got it back in worse condition Tony denied, denied, denied it being their fault. The last service/repair to the 335 involved removing the transmission to fix oil leaks. These guys are simply the best. Tony always has the answers for my 2009 BMW 3 series. Every time I describe something as obscure as "weird sound that sounds like *insert sound effect*" they always take a look and solve the issue. They have done basic servicing for me as well as changing of wheel bearings/brake pads/wheels/air conditioning and a whole bunch of other things I wouldn't be able to know what they are or do. I have spent hours there with all the work that I have done there, they have internet so I have been able to work out of there successfully as well. I got Tony reference from one of my friends who has been going to him for last like 6-7 years to get his BMW 528 i serviced. I have met Tony and he is very honest, professional, knowledgeable and ethical human being. 3 weeks back I took my BMW 528i for wheel alignment and tire rotation, i was pleased with the service and price.
