I'm suprised this place only gets 3 stars, my wife and thought it was pretty good. We had a 2 meat combo, ribs & chicken leg quarter. The chicken was perfect meaty, moist and great flavor smoked tp perfectlion. ,Thhe ribs a little over done but not tough. We had fun trying the different sauces. She liked the sweet and the hot, i preffered the origional, hot was good, but right now hot spicy food is bothering me. Wifr thought the collard greens were great. The fried slightly on the soggy side but not too bad. The service was prompt and friendly and the decor was very Texas-ish. Great place for BBQ and I think it would be great for parties, I'm sure they have some sort of catering deal. Give 'em a try! read more

I'm really a big fan of this place and I will continue to frequent this location... The staff is always friendly to greet you right when you walk in the door... I've had several meals here but by far their smoked wings are my favorite. I also really like the sandwich I think is called "more cowbell" that is served on Texas toast and another great sandwich is the sandwich called "not a sloppy Joe". This location has collard greens where the Strongsville location does not and the collard greens are really good. The green beans are also just as good. Ordered takeout for the first time in New Years Day. We chose the judges sampler. It was enough meat for 3-4 people, but we made mac & ch and cornbread at home. Upsized the 2 sides to a pint, collard greens & baked beans. Disappointed that both sides had to be upsized, not just one if that makes sense. It then added $10 to the cost :( Did not like the collards at all and the beans were just ok. Would not order the collards ever again! Didn't love the Texas toast either. While I was home for the holidays my mom and brother mentioned finding a new bbq place they wanted to take me to. They initially had tried it during dinner and said the food was delicious. The day before I left my mom decided to take me for lunch. It was immaculate, super clean, which I appreciated. Also, really good music. Additionally, we were immediately greeted and asked if we were ready to order, we took a beat but made our order. I loved that they had an array of sauces and when I asked for something that was out near the drinks, I think it was straws, they immediately restocked them. Overall, the service and cleanliness of the restaurant was great. Unfortunately, the food was where we hit a snag. I had the two meat combo - sausage and brisket with corn pudding and collard greens. The sausage was fine, a little tough and the brisket unfortunately didn't have a ton of flavor. The corn pudding was ok, but the greens weren't edible, they were incredibly salty. We ended up not eating the majority of our food. This place might be best around dinner time, for whatever reason, so perhaps try them then but wouldn't recommend for lunch. read more

This was my first visit--I've wanted to try it for a while but never found the right time until now. I always thought the Panera across the street was small, but this spot felt even more cramped. It was very crowded, and seating felt tight, almost shoulder-to-shoulder with other diners. I ordered the two meats and two sides. They were out of salads and sausage initially, but I waited a bit longer and was eventually able to get sausage. The brisket was okay, though not as tender and moist as I would expect. The sausage was decent, but I would've preferred a jalapeño-cheddar flavored. Cutting both the brisket and sausage was a bit of a hassle--the thin, damp paper lining on the metal tray tore easily, making it messy. The fries had a nice crisp to them, and I really enjoyed the BBQ sauce. The green beans, however, were overly soggy and not very appetizing. One plus: They serve Pepsi products, which I appreciated. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience. The cost for the 2 meat (with brisket) and 2 sides with a drink was upwards of $20. I might come back during the summer to try a different dish at lower cost and enjoy the outdoor seating. That said, Southern BBQ is just so much better and could not be emulated in the same way here, unfortunately. read more

First, the staff. They are as good as it gets. As a first timer here, I didn't know how to order to ensure I was sated with what I wanted. The man at the register took his time with me and each customer. He was friendly, helpful, and patient. Hiring good staff is impossible, particularly in the fast food industry. This team was tops. The menu is EXCELLENT! They offer everything you can think of. I've been to other barbecue restaurants, and they don't offer nearly the selection City Barbecue does. They have brisket in whole slices, not chopped up--although they offer that, too! They also have nachos, chicken, and pork, but I was there specifically for the brisket. I also asked for extra-fatty pieces, and they were happy to oblige. It was very good--not the best, but very good. They offer a variety of sauces, which are above average, and I liked them very much. Not "the best" but again, very good. Their cornbread was worth getting, and their coleslaw was ok too. But I was there primarily for the brisket, which didn't disappoint. All in all, I would visit again for sure. Too bad I haven't found a place in the city that has the extensive menu and quality they do here. read more

Pretty bad example of barbecue. Miniscule portions, very high prices, for awful barbecue. Their "smokers" use gas. Their are a few sticks of hickory? mesquite? laying by the smokers. But... they may have been laying there for many years .... unused. There is zero smoky smell in the parking lot, zero smoky flavor... and I mean zero (absolutely none) flavor in the brisket or pulled pork I ordered. Every barbecue place I visited in Dallas...awesome, Fort Worth...awesome, Austin... beyond awesome. Rudy's, a chain in the Southwest...infinitely better. So, I know all you barbeque snobs out there will tear me up, but I like City Barbeque in general, and if you're driving past, once you smell it, you're going to want some. And... drive thru. So into the line I went. I have always liked their potato salad, and this location had wings! I do think the sides here are a bit expensive, but I also think they're good quality. In mobile app, I entered car description, as if it mattered because my car was only on in pickup area. After 5 minutes of texting "here" and verifying in app that it was noted, I saw that the order went from pickup to recent orders, so we waited and still did t have anyone bring order out. 10 minutes later I went inside and asked an employee about the order and explained ed that we had been waiting outside 10 minutes. He was very nice, friendly and went to check. The person he asked was not as helpful. He told her we had been outside waiting and came in to get the order. The lady he spoke with asked for a name and when I told her, she grabbed a bag that was already tied up, sitting on a counter and pushed it towards me and said "here". Ok.. well, thanks I guess. The nice guy asked me to check the order before I left. It was ok, so we left. The food was ok. The food was ok. One item on the order was pulled pork. It was a big piece of fat so at least the dog got some kind of pork. I have gift cards, so I'll go back to use them. The decor is spot on! Clean and very decorative. The was no wait so it was a little intimidating to order for our first visit. Counter service was great. Great smoked brisket and pulled pork. The bark on the pulled pork is crazy delicious. Some of the best collard greens I've ever had. Cheesy good Mac 'n cheese. Today I was in a mood for some BBQ. I went to City BBQ.i have passed this place multiple times shopping in the area. I figured it was time to give it a try I went in and a little bit before noon. The place was not as crowded as I thought but also not many companies in the area. The establishment was clean and the smell was awesome I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. After studying the menu I decided on a half slab. Realize this was no easy decision. The selections were awesome. If I had a bigger appetite I would have order samples of everything. My sides were potato salad and greens. The ribs were cooked to perfection. People believe the meat should fall off the bone. These were cooked to wear you have to give the meat a slight pull and the meat detaches. I choose the original sauce and the sweet city sauce. The original was my favorite. The potato salad was a bit bland but a shake of pepper and it brought it to life. The greens were surprising the taste was definitely southern. They need to sale that pot liquor. I wish they would change the bread for cornbread. The service was excellent. But the star of the show was Eddy. He bussed tables and was a friendly host. Checking on customers to make sure their needs are met. He made sure your drinks were full. Even seen him bring orders to the table. He had jokes and definitely make sure you have a great experience. I'm here for the brisket, the cornbread and the delicious barbecue sauce. The service is always a plus and we were greeted by The host taking orders at the register. A young lady by the name of Brianna waited on us. She was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing my friend ordered the tacos and I ordered the brisket with a cornbread side and banana pudding and one drink. The total was $37. It's cooked fresh everyday and they will give you whatever type or cuts that you're looking for by simply asking So if you like it more done, just ask for well done. So impressed with this bbq spot that has a drive thru? What?!! We dined in, got the judges plate, good for 2 adults and 2 kids. Brisket was good, chicken was good, ribs were good. Cornbread and regular bread were good, not great, meat was much better. The sauces were very tasty. Our sides were fried and hush puppies, as well as Mac and cheese. Excellent BBQ and service! Ordered Mac-n-Cheese and it was very good. Not mushy or too cheesy like many restaurants have. The Hush Puppies were terrific. A little sweetness to them and they had a great crunch on the outside and softness inside. Baked beans were good too. A bit sweet and mixed with some brisket! We ordered the Lulus Pork sandwich which had a vinegar BBQ sauce mixed into the pulled pork meat. Very tasty and topped with creamy and delicious Cole slaw. The Brisket sandwich was very good too. Inside, the restaurant is clean and has lots of seating (both inside and outside). Plenty of Pepsi options for drinks along with sweet, unsweetened and lemonade to drink. I spoke to the guy making sandwiches when I walked in. Then later on they finally came to wait on me at the cashier the guy making the sandwiches not exactly what he was doing. He gave me cold hard strips of pork. It looks like the pork before they chop it up, it was just dry and terrible. The manager was a young lady. She was young and probably inexperienced. The manager was running around doing everything trying to make everything right and the cook stand there and you gave me and my wife, miserable pork the manager try to make a good me a completely different sandwich that was chopped and hot. This is a sad place. I will never return to city barbecue and they never answered my first review of this experience so I guess they really don't care. read more

I have done online orders here twice. Each time, they have been 15-20 minutes late beyond the pickup time. And each time after arriving home, the order has been wrong or a food item missing. I tried calling to explain the situation and was redirected to their national customer service line. This location simply needs to do better. read more
