I have always liked the Winking Lizard. This was my first time at this location. The atmosphere was fun and entertaining. Multiple televisions with all the different sport games on. The food was very good. They have a good selection on their menu. They have a seasonal menu as well. They were having their clam bake. They usually have something that is unique on it. I was honestly very excited to try this place as I just moved five minutes away! I called at 9:55 to ask what time was the latest they sat, or if I could place a to go order. Online it said they close at 11, when I called they said kitchen was closed more than one hour before closing time. They also said I wouldn't be able to dine in anymore. This is a decent local chain with good food but lousy service. Lousy! To be fair, I ordered take out. I called my order in and they said it would be about 20 minutes. Fair enough. As it happened, I got there exactly 20 minutes later. It wasn't ready. Ok, you have to give them some leeway! Another 10-15 minutes passed and still no order. They told me they were just waiting on the appetizer which was a Southwestern "egg roll." I waited 10 whole additional minutes for a mediocre egg roll. Look, I get it, people fall behind. But when I get there after 20 minutes, as told, and then have to wait an additional 15 minutes, no thanks. For my meal, I ordered the Buffalo Chicken wrap sandwich with steak fries. It wasn't that bad. It was decent. Not exceptional but exactly what I expected, so kudos there. I ordered a burger for my friend and he ate it. So I assume it was satisfactory. Good or just decent service would have been a 4/5... which is very good. It's not going to win culinary awards. but good. Crappy service, 3/5 Oh, and the manager was pissed when I told him I wouldn't be back. He knew exactly why, but insisted on following me out the door! Seriously! I wasn't even rude. Decided to get a late dinner on a Wednesday night. Arrived at 8:30 and it was slow but all the staff were ready to serve as they completed their side work. My wife and I ordered burgers. I had the Blue Shroom Burger that was good. It had melted blue cheese and bacon and grilled mushrooms and a side of steak fries. Lots of TVs to watch games and it wasn't too loud being a late Wednesday. Served quick and the bartender was pleasant and relatively attentive. read more

My friend and I went for the clam bake. It was my first time at a Winking Lizard. It will not be my last. We both got the clam bake with lobster tails. It was FANTASTIC!! $40.00 are you kidding me. In today's world, that is a deal. It started with New England clam chowder. It was excellent. Then we got the clams, also excellent. Then the lobster tails (X2) came out with the potato, I chose the sweet potato, an ear of corn and cheesy garlic bread. It was so much food I took home the corn & bread. This honestly was the best bake I've ever had. Our server was Larry. He was very nice and attentive. The manager, Joe then came out and chatted with us. This local dive bar is just the thing we were looking for in the clevland area. Service, from Larry, our waiter was awesome, and he made sure we had everything we needed at a time. Pricing was very affordable and nice size portions. Interior atmosphere and one side was a bar area, and the other side of the live iguana was a quieter ambiance. I went with Honey Thai wings, and my wife went with another spicy wing sauce. our friend went with Tennessee hot, and one went with the special fried ravioli. with an order of their St Louis BBQ ribs. Each was perfectly cooked, and they were some meaty wings and meaty ribs that fell off the bone and very tasty. Each sauce was very good and enjoyed trying the side of their homemade BBQ sauce. Went here On the recommendation of a relative. Actually drove out of the way. The Winking Lizard has a cute name but there is really nothing remarkable the place except the inflated prices. We had a rathe large party and we're promptly seated. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. The menu consists of most what you would expect, wings, burgers and pizza. The food is average at best. Nothing to keep me coming back here or recommending that you do. It isn't bad but it is unremarkable. Order were filled correctly but nothing stood out. I ordered a burger and it was ok. Typical French fry side. If you want to say you've been here then stop in. Otherwise, give it some thought. There was nothing here for me that demanded a return visit. read more

Mmm... delicious! I recently had the pleasure of dining here a couple times and both times I had an excellent experience. I ordered a grilled cheese and fries the first time, and then the next time I ordered a cheeseburger and fries w/ their magnificent bbq sauce. I love the quality of the food here -- everything was cooked to perfection. I couldn't have been more pleased with my meals. I also love the fact they have coca-cola freestyle. I don't usually like the coca-cola products, but when a company has the freestyle with different shot of flavors to add to the drink, it makes it so much better! In addition to the delicious food and drink, each time the service at the restaurant was top-notch. The staff were attentive and friendly and went above and beyond to ensure that I had a wonderful dining experience. I used to go to winking lizard most exclusively with my parents back in the day when they were located further east on Detroit Rd, which seemed much bigger and nicer, but nevertheless, still as delicious as it used to be. read more

Used to love the pizza here, but the last two times we did take out...the pizza was completely undercooked. So raw in fact, that I threw it out. Tried it again thinking that was a fluke and specifically requested that it was fully cooked. It even indicated that on the order receipt. Upon arrival there was a short wait for us which gave us some time to grab some popcorn which definitely helped hold us over for until we were seated you so know I was all for this as popcorn is one of my favorite things! Once seated we ordered some lizard freckles because why not who doesn't just love such a thing they were fried yummy with a dill pickle flavor that just went well with the ranch as well as their delicious bbq sauce for even more of a kick! Of the choices I went with the BBQ Burger as that's just what I was feeling and a right choice it was as the entire burger was super flavorful and just down right yummy even more so with a bit more of their delicious bbq sauce! The burger came with steak fries which were also good but what made them better was you guessed it dipping them in there delicious bbq sauce! Our food was super yummy and came out quickly our service was awesome and the whole vibe here was just chill for the given night just the way a lizard would like it! Welcome back from pandemic. This place is a regular haunt for me. Looks like the bourbon and whiskey selection has grown exponentially. Which is more my style. Yes they still have a stellar beer selection. Today I ordered the baby back ribs. They where cooked to perfection. I like the fact that the sauce is light and you can add more. Which works for the left overs I can add some of my own favs. The young lady who waited on us was boring until we started joking and she played along. I have been to this location many times and always order the same thing, a buffalo chicken salad, which is always delicious! I always request for the kitchen to chop the salad extra and they have never given me a difficult time, however, today the manager, Jesse, said it was impossible to do. We had four children with us. Mr. Man, the lizard and I go back to the time they were on Detroit Rd. in Westlake. It was nice then because we could have walked home... They moved to Avon and my friend and I had dinner there almost every night for about 2 years. We absolutely loved it. If you want to impress a boy or a girl, unless they are big into sports, don't take them to a sports bar. However, my friend and I loved their food, and we must have tried just about everything. I really enjoyed their special menus like for the Great lent. I had a salmon sandwich with a tzatziki sauce which was great. Their wings are also very good and also the loaded Lizard Nachos and Cheese. You order a large Nachos and you can take half home for later. Their assortment of "designer's beers" are amazing and pretty limitless. I could have paid my mortgage with the money I invested in this place, but I have no regrets. I only go to the new Avon location when my buddy Adam wants to get a few beers bc it's close to his house. It's either that or the rush inn & I'll take the lizard over that joint. I drink bud lights & he gets the crafts. It's a crowded bar, it's like the west side sailboat crowd. Outside is cool but today a thunderstorm. Kids in the restaurant all the time that's not my scene. Hey if u want a half head of iceberg with lots of celery & great chicken breast covered in bleu cheese this is the salad for u. I like the big ass wood mixing bowl it comes in. By the end I feel like I've eaten a lifetime of celery. The wings app come on a small plate like I feed my cat on. It's very suspicious when I tell the cat. The ribs are good too. And no matter what your favorite is they've got it! The wings are crispy outside and tender and juicy inside! I also love their chili too! My girlfriend loves the salads and my son is a fan of the cajun chicken sandwich! We always have great service! This Avon location is one of my favorites. Have eaten lunch here a few times within the last 3-4 weeks. The food was delicious. The spinach dip was the best i've had and my asian chicken saland and the mesa salad was also amazing! The best part about the entire experience was our waitress! Shannon was so friendly, personable and knowledgeable with the menu! She was attentive and so sweet! I ordered the patty melt and I have to say it was spot on. The ribs were a little dry. The wing sauce and BBQ sauce tasted a little processed, but overall a decent dining experience. Second time at Winking Lizard, went around 4pm on a Sunday with 4 adults and 3 children. Was told the wait would be about 45 minutes, well it was about 15ish so that was a pleasant surprise! Plus the popcorn is a nice addition to keep kids occupied while waiting. We had a nice waitress, the food was good, wings and burgers you can't go wrong. Overall a good experience! It is a great place to watch some football and don't forget about the $6, 32 oz. domestics during game day! Of all the food the Winking Lizard offers, the boneless wings are the best.
