Driving from Toronto we're looking for dinner near our hotel. We haven't had a barbeque in a while and when we saw city barbecue, we got excited. When we walked in it was very lively, we were greeted immediately and were given time to look through the menu. The client service is top-notch would cheer you up even if you were in a terrible mood. Definitely busy for Friday night. They're common room was full, but it was very clean. Everything was organized not a complaint to be seen. They are a Pepsi product facility, which would probably be my downfall so we took everything to go. We had the hand pulled pork, beef, pastrami, and beef brisket. We got the sampler platter so we got fries and mac & cheese meats and the cuts were delicious. Gotta love a nice toasted Texas bread, fries were on point! Good quality bbq. I had a 2 meat and 2 sides lunch platter and it is a great value for the price but wish it had little more meat. You order at the counter and wait to hear your name which could be tough if you are having a conversation on the other end of the restaurant. The beans tasted old, our Mac and cheese was horrible (half full and just a giant hunk of cheese at the bottom), the brisket was all fat. Been going to City BBQ since it was local to Columbus area. Have gone to the Beachwood location a number of times. This time was somewhat disappointing. Got the family meal with triple q, coleslaw and potato salad and a "pint" of banana pudding. All the food was fine although the meat was very spicy( like probably wouldn't get again, we don't mind a little heat but this was burn the back of your throat hot) . My problem is it was supposed to be 1 lb of meat, 2 pints of sides. Neither side was full, the potato salad was roughly 1 1/2 c total, the cole slaw maybe 1 2/3 c total. Neither was sufficient for 4 adult servings. There was barely enough meat for 4 very small sandwiches, it actually would have made 3 small to average sized sandwiches on the buns provided. So overall the food tasted good but not the value stated or realistic serving sizes as advertised. The banana pudding had odd textured bananas, they were almost crunchy. I couldn't figure out if they were very underripe or maybe dehydrated , just really odd to have crunchy bananas? Not worth $8 for sure. The Texas sausage was actually pretty good, but the Nashville hot chicken was barely bigger than a chicken nugget and wasn't very hot; the picture of it on the website looks a LOT better. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I frequent the Chagrin location. MOMMA is a hoot!! I love the "extended cousin" feel! She greets me, she welcomes AND then she acts like my Mammaw would! Ok so I have never eaten at a City Barbeque so I really didn't have too many expectations. OTHER THAN everybody CANT BARBEQUE! She went through the entire menu. She wasn't rushing me and she took her time to explain how the menu worked. So I ordered my food, grab a beer (IN A CAN) and found a seat. The food was cooked pretty quickly which made me happy but also told me that it didn't come hot off the grill. The food was pretty good. I had a salad, brisket, ribs and Mac N Cheese (dont judge me!‍) The Mac N Cheese could have been a little more cheesier but not too bad. The multiple sauces made the ribs savory. You can get creative with those. Overall my experience was excellent! Doretha made my visit very pleasurable. The only thing I was disappointed in is that they didn't have draft beer or any bourbon to compliment the selections of having Barbeque. Even with that said, I'll certainly be back. Great tasting BBQ with lots of options! Went here for the first time while visiting family in Ohio and it didn't disappoint. There were food selections to satisfy each of our palettes. I enjoyed the brisket sandwich (with sweet BBQ on the side), fresh cut fries and hushpuppies. The menu was displayed on a large TV screen. Our food was ready in no time. The seating area was clean and spacious. Staff wear gloves and pass you the condiments oppose to having a condiment station. Parking was no problem in the free parking lot. So anticipated the opening. Heard nothing but good things from people that have had it in Columbus. With that being said maybe I should have waited a little longer for the full experience. When I looked at the menu on line a couple of items said they came with sides. Not how it panned out in reality. Do not go by the menu here on yelp for pricing. I brought it to the managers attention and he made ZERO effort to accommodate the difference even after I showed it to him on line. He simply stated everything is ala cart. Oh well I guess. On to the food.... ordered for me and my dad. Half slab, breast and a wing, baked beans, greens, green beans and Mac n cheese! I did like that they give you multiple sauces to try. Mine was the hot and spicy. The super dark one was gross the other one wasn't too bad. The bread was just ok. My dad said the ribs were tough. The back side of them were more like bark but I like that chew. The chicken flavor was good. Baked beans and green beans were good. Greens and Mac n cheese just ok. This is my third location that I've been to from Fishers, IN to John's Creek, GA to Beachwood, OH. This is the worst location. I have visited three different times. This last time was on Rib Tuesday. The service was awfully slow, the drink dispensers were empty while the one waitress was filling containers on the tables. I waited nearly 15 minutes for three ribs, potato salad, and greens. Their system seemed disorganized. There were about 4 other orders in front of me. The ribs I was given were the size of baby back ribs vs spareribs. The potato salad was chunky and the greens had too much Smokey flavor and they very sour ( I.e too much vinegar). I lived next door to the Fishers location which was always busy but their employees hustled and got lines in and out. There is no sense of hustle or urgency. The meat guy appeared like he didn't have a clue. I probably won't try this one again- so disappointed. read more

Tonight we ordered the pulled pork platter with baked beans and green beans. The platter came with buns and cornbread. The flavor of the meal as a whole was on point. The green beans have bacon for flavor and are seasoned to the Gods. The baked beans are sweet and savory very nicely balanced. The pork before the sauce is seasoned well.
