This is one of my favorite spots in Cincinnati to stop and get a meal with friends or a quick bite for myself. City Barbeque is quick, fresh and so good. It's "stick to your bones" food but done so well: Pros: -Food is delicious. I love almost everything on the menu. -The seating is great- they have indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of room for groups. -The service is always wonderful and quick -They have so many sauce choices and "extras" on the counter like lemons, pickles, jalapeños! This is some damned good barbeque. We got to town after 9pm on a Friday, they were just down the street from our hotel, so we opted to get dinner before checking in. This is just down the street from the Hampton inn. They are open until 10:00 pm on Friday evenings and so we pulled in, got out and walked inside. The place was busy, so we checked out the menu. When we stepped up, we placed our order for the 2 meats with 2 sides (pulled pork, brisket, Loaded fries, green beans) and More cowbell w/ fries. The food came out quckly and we dashed off to the side bar, picking up some of the best pickles and extra sauce - my favorite was the mustard, that was some good sauce. The husbeast loved the More Cowbell. He thought it was a good combination of flaovours. I enjoyed the 2 meats, but preferred the brisket over the pulled pork. The green beans to the fries. I was at an event recently that was catered by them. I've always liked their food, especially their side dishes. The Mac & cheese is a 9! I was pleasantly surprised by the fun S'mores bar that was set up. What a great way to end a good meal and I'm not a big fan of desserts. But I had to try and I'm glad I did. I stopped by here on Friday night as my boyfriend had a craving for BBQ. This location is the closest to my home, which is about a 20 minute drive. The parking lot for this location is small. If you park near the other stores, you have to walk all the way around the building to get to the front door. Seems like an odd location for the door especially given how they blocked off other entrances due to COVID. This place didn't seem very busy as we were able to walk in and walk right to the counter to order. The guy at the counter seemed to be in a rush taking our order because as soon as I gave my order, then my boyfriend slowly gave his and was still mid sentence, the worker assumed we were finished and gave the total while my boyfriend was still staring at the menu. My boyfriend was planning on ordering more food, but became frustrated by this and didn't. We had ordered the food to go and the guy had asked if we wanted any sauce to go as well since they do not have the sauce out on the floor for customers for safety. We both said yes, and I asked for sweet city sauce and my boyfriend got the regular sauce. I mention this because I did not get my sweet city sauce in the bag. I'm not sure if we arrived at this location at a bad time, but I'm frustrated that we were rushed with ordering and didn't get the right sauce. I love City BBQ and I used to eat at the Highland Heights and Florence locations weekly when I lived in KY. I love BBQ. Thank goodness I am in the Blue Ash area every so often. I swing into City BBQ at lunch and grab a pork sandwich with the vinegar slaw. Sometimes I add another vegetable on the side. I am a fan of the Swine Wine. It is not your typical BBQ sauce. It is a peppery, vinegary, sweet, liquid dipping sauce. I have even put it on their collard greens! On a rare occasion I have had the chocolate cake which is fabulous! I have tried the potato salad, green beans, and baked beans. I could just do a vegetable plate for lunch with their sides, but like I said, I love BBQ. This location has a lunch menu (reduced portions...reduced price). Mom and I shared the Sampler - a half rack of ribs, Brisket, Chicken, pulled pork and two sides. The Ribs had quite a thick bark. I loved it's chew, but definitely needed sauce. If you order Brisket - definitely request the fatty, trendy cut. It also can have a pretty thick bark that is super flavorful. For our sides we got the fries and the slaw. Both were good. My favorite is definitely the brisket. While it's not my absolute favorite Brisket in the city, it's pretty darn good. I Order City BBQ frequently. I am in sales and order party packs to take to offices for their lunch, while I discuss my company products. The food is always spot on and consistent in taste. Party Packs are the way to go. The party packs are plentifully, and generally there are left overs. I have also ordered personally for family gatherings also. Yesterday, I took advantage of the free delivery offered for Labor Day weekend. We were having a late family graduation party. 10-12 people. I ordered online, and scheduled ahead for the time I wanted it. It showed up right on time. They used Grub Hub to deliver the order. Here are the items that I have found my customers. And family prefer best: Pulled Pork Beef brisket Baked beans with brisket Green beans ( they are the best) Potatoes Salad Corn pudding Sweet potato casserole ( seasonal) If there is one thing I would ask of City BBQ, is to be more consistent in the texture of the potatoes salad. Sometimes, it's like mush, and has been mixed to much/too hard. It's best when the serve it more with little cubes of potatoes in it. It can be eaten either way. Stopped by City Bbq after my daughters birthday party. I was thoroughly impressed. You walk up and order and within minutes your name is called and your food is ready. Drinks are self serve and the restaurant is about the perfect size. Not too crammed but open and enough room to have a good atmosphere. I got a half slab of ribs and was dipping them in the original bbq which was really good. My kids got tenders that looked crisp and golden. There is also an outdoor area where the kids hung around Overall a good place to eat no matter your party type. Also had the football games on tv which is a plus. Definitely got my BBQ fix here. I think this place may be a chain, but it was pretty good overall. There are smokers proudly displayed on the side of the building, so you know things are made fresh! I got a 2 meat, 2 side platter and it was such a huge portion of meat - I barely finished it. The brisket was really good with that dark outside and slightly red gradient working it's way in...mmmmm....but the pulled pork was just alright. Obviously, since im working on my beach body, i got the mac and cheese as my side of choice and to make myself feel better about my life choices, I got the green beans, both non regrettable choices. The meat and the sides are all priced individually so no "combos" but I got the pulled pork and 3 ribs with green beans and their banana pudding and then the pulled pork with Mac n cheese and baked beans and it was a little under $30. This place is yummy. Today, on vacation, my family and I ate only two meals (weird schedule due to jet lag). We had both of those meals at City Barbecue. My wife who is very particular about meat, and doesn't eat a lot of beef, loved the brisket sandwich. My kids all loved their food (between the three of them they tried ribs, the pulled pork sandwich, Mac & Cheese, green beans, and French fries). They also have interesting items such as a smoked Turkey salad. I had a brisket sandwich for lunch, which was very good. For sides I had potato salad (delicious) and corn bread (good). My dinner was smoked turkey (very good) and for my sides, vinegar slaw (muy delicioso) and CORN PUDDING (amazing - you must try). They have five different BBQ sauces. They were fine, but not amazing, with the exception of what my wife informed me is "North Carolina style". It was very vinegary and peppery. Yum. Honestly the only reason I stopped in to this location was because I was on my way home and I had a coupon that expired that month, so I wanted to grab some smoke me on the cheap and just get a good deal keep moving forward. Unfortunately there are some problems with the redemption of the Q-pot, it was actually supposed to go to the Eastgate store, which I didn't realize be coupons were set up for each location. I was a little annoyed but decided I would just keep it moving, the manager though ? He didn't like that idea, he wanted to take care of me. And they did, and they did a very good job doing so. I had some reward dollars that I wanted to use that apparently count as a second coupon, which I didn't know, they were still okay with me, they were still super helpful, they are both extremely polite in the way they handled me as an initially upset, but then very thankful customer. Good quality customer service is one thing that will keep me going back. Oh about that other thing though, the other thing that he's we going back? Really damn good food, and they do that too. The only concern I have is that I don't see anyone working there wiping down tables after someone leaves. With the state of concern for your health these days, I would like to know the tables get cleaned every time a customer leaves and before another customer sits there again.
