This place still has consistently wonderful service! Skylar and Jason have been great on several occasions along with all the other employees. The food... the last few times I've had the brisket it has been very tender and full of flavor! This actually surprised me (see my previous review) and that's what made me order it four times in a row even though I normally like to switch it up. I tried the pastrami and it was pretty decent. It was thick cut and tender. Not as salty as I anticipated. I prefer the more fatty cuts but you can ask for lean or full cut. The pulled pork has been less dry than it used to be and I've ordered the Lolo's pulled pork a handful of times because of it. The slaw and swine wine are a good combo in my opinion. Half chicken is still good and even though it seems smaller lately it is still filling, plus I love Texas toast! My current favorite sides are now the corn pudding, the collard greens, and the mac. The green beans are also flavorful. I haven't had the ribs, turkey, sausage, or pulled chicken in a long time so I can't speak on those. I've been here about five times now when I'm in town visiting. This was by far the best visit. The pulled pork was perfect. Some of the best I've had. The flavor and the tenderness were our own point. The pulled chicken sandwich that my friend had I had a little bit of and the chicken was so moist. All of the sides were delicious as well. The atmosphere is what you would expect in a barbecue joint. I did have more fat than you should have on a sandwich, but they took care of it and gave me a little more extra pork to add to it. read more

First time eating in the restaurant. When we got inside, we were honestly lost! We didn't know if someone was going to seat us, or if we order at the counter. We waited about 5 mins confused, then I approached an employee. They then told us we have to order off the screen above. We asked if they had menus, they said no. We didnt feel welcomed at all. So we ordered our food, sat down and waited. Once we got our food, we were not satisfied with everything. Paying over 70$ for our food, I expected it to be Hot and juicy. My brisket was cold, I had to dip it in my beans (which were super good) to get it atleast warm. The collards were not done at all, so I switched out sides. First time using "Curbside Service" but there were no instructions on what to do when you arrived other than providing color of car and type. When arrived did not see people sitting in cars at curbside nor anyone bringing food to cars. Not knowing what to do waited for 5 mins. If the service was not available the system should have alerted when order was placed. Went inside and food was sitting on counter. Ribs were tasty but needed more cooking time to be more tender and not have to be ripped off the bone. Green beans are usually good but didn't have a good taste; potato salad and banana pudding were very good. Briskets have always been good and will stick with that for any future orders. Ordering at register had several people backed up and several people in line to pick up orders. No sign of a manager or those matters would have been addressed, I would hope. read more

This Friday night we went to the grove city, (city bbq.) the place was a little busy, we waited in line like 10 minutes, cause they only had one register open. I order the sausage sandwich that comes with 2x sausages that is topped with slaw , and I ordered a order of fries, my wife ordered pulled pork and hush puppies. The food took like 15-20 minutes since the staff was more worried about the carry out orders more than the customers dining in. Once the order was ready they shorted me the hush puppies, and the fries were under cooked and limp, so I told them I wanted them to recook them. It took another 5 minutes. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which should be a pretty decent test of a BBQ restaurant. The sandwich had a decent amount of meat on it, which was nice. However, it was very dry even after dumping all of the sauce they gave me on it. As for sides, I tried the Mac and Cheese and the fries, both were pretty average. Ordered dinner for my family from GC City BBQ tonight, so disappointing. The boys opted for ribs but I got my usual, the pulled pork sandwich. As you can see, I couldn't even eat half off it. It had a large piece of fat that was charred on one side, and most of what was left was cooked so long it was hard & dry. Why would anyone put this on a sandwich, poor quality/service. Ate at City BBQ tonight. Service was good, food marginal, more like fast food barbecue than the real thing. The pulled pork was dry, tasteless, and I could not detect any smoke flavor at all. Sausage was passable at best. My wife got the mac and cheese and it was a gluey, congealed mass. She passed on it. Good hush puppies, though. Have been here a few time and visited on Sunday at noon. This visit was fantastic. I got pulled chicken and the bun was over flowing with chicken, yummy. I ordered a two meat platter, ribs and brisket plus cole slaw and potato salad sides. The ribs lacked a smoke taste although they appeared well barbecued and the bones were hard. They were in the heat too long. The brisket looked good on the counter before being cut, a nice char on top. It was not dry, but it had no taste and certainly no smoke taste at all. The potato salad was good, and the cole slaw was ok, but not great. The people running this place should take trip up the road to Kansas City and try a few BBQ places there to get an idea of what good BBQ should taste like. read more

What is going on here? Used to be good, going downhill. Ordered pick up and they shut off their system and had to go in. Fine, but with small kids it was a pain. We have eaten at City BBQ for years. The last few years we have ordered takeout. Many times this establishment has messed up our orders and we have given them many chances to get it right. Not anymore. We will not be eating at the Grove City City BBQ. The other night I checked the order to make sure that all items ordered were in the sack. Didnt think to actually OPEN up the 2 links. (I shouldnt have to) and when got home the two links were charred and should not have been let out of the restaurant. Plus they were missing peppers and onions which I ordered. We paid $55 for a really crappy meal. I called to complain and was told I would have a $15 coupon which hasnt ever shown up. You have lost a customer and I am not sure that I would recommend to others. read more

Lord, don't deprive me of my favorite BBQ food! That is some good soul food! You have the beans, brisket, turkey and all the good fixin's here. Let's say I have to sacrifice much when I come here. That's my weight, because I'm on Weight Watchers and count all my meals. I let myself enjoy on days where I've done really well for the week and need a nice day to just treat myself to my own favorite comfort food. In Ohio that is BBQ food! In another state it will be another food! I came here with friends and of course took my time eating and just enjoying my meal. Learned on my new diet plan to stop eating quickly and just enjoy the food in front of me weather it's a healthy dish or not. So I really just took time to enjoy all the flavors from everything I'd ordered with the beef brisket sandwich which was smoked to perfection. To the beans and mac and cheese. Finally, to top it off I shared a peach cobbler with my husband. Letting him eat half and I ate the other half. As much as it broke all my smart points and calorie intake for the day, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal because I realized the importance of pacing myself while eating and just enjoying the food, conversation and atmosphere. Totally bad experience with a delivery order placed at the store. The order was close to $600, to be delivered. You would assume when they say catering and delivery they would have delivery, they use DoorDash. Received a message my order was canceled or modified. Called the store, not much help. Told me I would have to come to the store, pick up the order and pay, although I had paid in advance my card was declined-it wasn't I was double charged. I did receive charge reversal on the original card, and they did give me a 10% discount for the hassle. DoorDash called me after I picked up the order and asked me to cancel the order on line. When it was all set up the two pans of peach cobbler were seriously burned. I couldn't believe they would actually sent them out. I would attach picture if I knew how. read more
