Driving all around Indianapolis shopping for stuff for my kids dorm room, and my kid gets hangry - we decide to see what's around - barbeque with great ratings! I have to be honest, not sure this is the correct location, but I just found out its a chain...I don't care! It was GOOD! We really enjoyed all of the meats and the choices of sauces was super fun. The food was hot and came out quickly, which is good, no one wants to be around a hangry teenager. Oh we just really enjoyed it, but my son could have used an antacid afterwards lol his fried chicken bowl was delicious but spicier than he was used to. I think we ate all but two of the little corn ball thingies. Gotta' look up their name. Funny we picked a chain, but it was good - don't be a snob - come and try it! Staff is welcoming, fantastic, and friendly. I ordered the city sampler meal which came with Turkey, brisket, pulled pork and Texas style-sausage and 2 sides. I definitely do not recommend ordering the sausage, try anything but the sausage. It does not taste good. The brisket has good moist pieces and then dry pieces. The Turkey was tender but a little dry. I did not enjoy the taste the pulled pork unless it was dipped in a lot of bbq sauce. I tried the green beans, baked beans, and potato salad. The potato salad is delish!! I couldn't stop eating it. If your going to try some meat, recommend ordering the brisket and turkey. Very clean inside and nice decor. read more

Came here around 7:30 on a Tuesday with my family. Clean, friendly staff. I had never been here before so I was excited to try something new. They were out of turkey and Mac n cheese. Bummer but gives us reason to go back. I ended up getting the pulled chicken with corn pudding and fries. Fries were really good. They were darker with skin on and it was a nice change from McDonald's type basic fries. Chicken was yummy but the corn pudding was missing something- maybe salt or something sweet. It was kind of bland. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My youngest- a Mac n cheese connoisseur, was disappointed about them running out but they did give us free fries for him in lieu of Mac. Fantastic service, old school metal and stone atmosphere, and genuine menu offering tasty bbq and brisket, I dropped in motivated by the twenty five cent pulled pork offer on their rewards program. Had to snag another meaty sandwich to go, both lasted well packaged for my drive home, I cannot complain at twelve bucks and twenty five cents for very decent meals. This is a great chain that demands the loyalty program to balance prices. I don't get the high charges for sides or desserts, a bit odd for a basic slaw to cost as much as a Slim Chicken's shake. Parking is easy in this location, plenty of room right along the Indy to Chicago interstate. I have had much of the menu from other locations, some excellent like brisket and some below average like some sandwiches that need too much sauce to fill in the flavor gaps. Fantastic spot! Surprisingly busy even at 2pm. As it was my first visit, I previewed the menu online. To my surprise when I arrived, I didn't see the options I had picked out. I pulled into the lot at about 830. The open sign was turned off, and from the dark lot and low visibility in the store, I almost drove off. They were, in fact, open and in full operation, which was weird. Luckily, I frequent the chain regularly, so I knew they should be open. Minus that this location was probably the best location I've been to based on customer service alone. We were frequently checked on and asked if we were doing OK and enjoying the food. My wife and I came here on a whim and shucks I'm glad we did. Typically I'm skeptical of barbecue joints up here in the north but City Barbecue is amazing!! We ordered the smoked sausage which comes on a delicious piece of toast and is covered in coleslaw. Next a sampler with ribs and chicken. The wife got a salad and we got colored greens and some mac'n'cheese. The food was glorious!! We also got an assortment of sauces so we could find one we liked. Turns out we liked them all but the spicy sauce was my absolute favorite! You know it's good barbecue when you feel like taking a nap afterwards. When you drive up behind the building, you see a guy stoking the smokers and you get your first whiff of the rich smoky meats and you say this is the real thing. I can't believe this is a chain but so glad to have a City Barbeque close by. They are located in one of the new strip malls in Whitestown. The interior is upscale barbeque decorated in pigs and cows. You order up front and sit and wait about 10 minutes or less for your food order. You can watch the chef slice the meats as you wait. The menu is broad special ingredients in pulled pork and brisket. I was pleased to see some salad options. There are a number of combination platters if you have a couple people to share your meal. The sides are interesting southern barbeque offerings including collards and cornbread. I selected the naked pulled pork and split sides of fries and cole slaw with my husband. They offer about a dozen sauces. I really like the bourbon sauce which was a sweet sauce and the spicy blackberry. The pork was generous, moist with thick smoky flavor. So delicious. The fries were fresh, crisp, five star on their own. The slaw was also fabulous. All in all, a five star barbeque meal. They do a brisk carry out. There is a line a dinner time even on a Monday. On Tuesday they have a special 40 percent off ribs. They sell the sauces for 4.99 a bottle. Unfortunately, there is no alcohol. I'll be back. Maybe tomorrow. So dang good. read more

Missing peach cobbler, bone in my pulled chicken, really pink pieces of chicken, discolored gray spots in the chicken, three out of the six smoked wings, had both human hair and hair from the chicken wing. The only redeeming quality that this location has is the lady with black hair that was doing the cash register, she quickly gave me the peach cobbler and didn't ask any questions and just provided good customer service. Unfortunately that will be the last time I will be going to city barbecue. It's sad because I used to go there as a kid and I wanted to show my fiancé how good it is, but not all locations are the same. I would say that the manager needs to be more involved and not just moving stuff around in the back. I assume that the manager wears like a gray shirt, they were just moving stuff around in the back and clearly need to be focusing on making sure that the Quality of food that is coming out is at least edible. I was doing DoorDash in the area about four or five months ago and one of the people working at night who is extremely nice guy offered me some peach cobbler because they were gonna have to throw it away. After I tried it, I was shocked because it actually tasted pretty good, I will say not as good as mine but pretty good. So I did get that again today as I mentioned, but it was missing from the bag so I had to go back in, But anyway, it tasted really good. The corn pudding was I would say seven out of 10, just needs a lot more corn. The hush puppies were a six out of 10. The moral of the story is, if you do go to this place, I would say don't but if you do end up going check to make sure all of your food is there and stick with meat that could be undercooked like brisket or beef products that they have which I think is just brisket. I have a very sensitive stomach so I will say that I don't think I ate any bad pieces because I would've been salsa dancing with some toilet paper if you catch my drift. It's sad because I personally love riding good reviews or positive reviews on businesses, but I just can't today. Like honestly y'all need to be careful because you could easily get shut down and that is not a good look. I wouldn't say that I am an expert on cleaning a whole chicken, but I get the rotisserie chicken at Costco and I debone the entire chicken and I have never had a single bone in any of the rotisserie chicken meat that I prepare because I am meticulous. Bones are disgusting. They remind us that we are eating meat or a former sentient being. Be more mindful pay better attention, this is directed at the managers. I did take the macaroni and cheese back and they stirred up the container and that was better. Baked beans were good as was the potato salad. Collard greens and green beans both cold. A nice addition to Whitestown! This place was PACKED when we went around noon on a Sunday. We waited in line for about 5-6 minutes and got our food very quickly. I was surprised to see things running so smoothly for being open less than a month. Typically I notice some kinks that need to be worked out but honestly I don't have any complaints. I'm not giving a full 5 stars because I enjoyed my food but wouldn't order what I got again. I ordered the LoLo's pulled pork with a side of potato salad. The potato salad was very good! My husband got the smokehouse turkey salad and I tried the turkey which was super good. They have a station to pick from the different BBQ sauces and an area with pickles, jalapeños and onions. I have to give credit where it's due... I was so impressed by the new City Barbeque in Whitestown! The restaurant was packed to the max, with a line to the door but the staff just kept it moving! We waited only a few short minutes before ordering and receiving our meals. The staff was very courteous and friendly, and even though they were extremely business, the tables, drink stations and floors were nice & tidy! I ordered the chipotle pulled rib sandwich with Mac & cheese. It was so bomb! Wow! I've been thinking about it ever since, so I think I'm going to get back there this weekend. My fiancé ordered the pulled pork sandwich with potato salad, and loved it! The meat is so fresh, tender and juicy! The available sauces are delicious and I like that I have the option to get my own pickles at the toppings bar. (I like to load up on pickles & these pickles are awesome!). City BBQ promotes curbside takeout. I ordered and received an email telling me the food would be ready at 5:43pm. The app has an "I'm Here" button to tap to let them know you are in the curbside parking spaces. At 5:58pm, I finally gave up and walked in the restaurant and asked for a manager. I told him I had been waiting for 15 minutes past the promised carry out time, and he pointed to a bag of food and says "that's yours." I told him I asked for curbside takeout and that I hit the "I'm Here" button when I arrived. He just looked at me and said, "I was here at that time and I did not get an alarm notifying me you had arrived", in a tone that somehow this was my fault. One of three things happened: 1) either the app button doesn't work, 2) the alarm didn't go off, or 3) the manager was paying no attention, because when I hit the button in my app, the screen changed and told me the food would be right out. So by the time I got home, I had cold, mediocre BBQ. If you want a warm meal, best to eat at the restaurant, and God forbid you would dare tell the manager you experienced a problem with your order. read more

First time at any City BBQ and I have admit the food was very good. The restaurant is fairly new. . . so maybe some of my negatives with improve with time. Still planning on going back even with the problems. First. . . the person taking the order totally screwed it up. We got large of everything, but ordered the smaller version. We asked for only one fry and got two. The Manager fixed the bill, but it was a bit of a hassle. Second. . . the restroom had a horrific "fix-it" smell. The air freshener in there almost made me want to get rid of my lunch. Need to tone that down a bit. However, was well stocked and clean. Food was very good. Fries were not as warm as I like and will order to have them crunchier next time. There was a bit of noise in there. All in all. . . good job and we will return. read more

The staff was friendly and recommended I try the ribs and pulled pork platter. They were so good! The ribs were flavorful and tender. The pulled pork had a great smoky flavor. I highly recommend the baked beans! They were amazing -- full of flavor and pieces of meat. Loved those. This place is in a newly developed part of town and it wasn't too full when we arrived around 6. It did start to get packed as the dinner hour went on so I'd recommend getting there early if you can. I walked here from the Truckstop on the other side of the freeway. I was hoping for the best. When I got close I saw the Qdoba nearby and decided to go there instead. I knew what I would get from Qdoba and Barbeque places are so hit and miss. This Barbeque place was on the way to Qdoba, so I walked by. The smell was terrific, so I looked inside and it was doing great business. I changed my mind again, and went in. I had a half slab of ribs. They were perfect. The service was fast, even with the rush. I had a salad and baked beans as well. Very good. Their iced tea was freshly brewed. I wish all Barbeque places were this good. A definite hit. read more
