The dining room filled up quickly during midweek lunch hour at this small town bbq restaurant. The restaurant is co owned by Brad and Melody Thomas. Brad is also the Advance Town Marshal. The menu offers bbq, burgers, tenderloins and chicken sandwiches. There are no prices on the chalk board menu, our sandwiches ran $10-$11. You order at a small counter in the rear of the dining room. Addi took our order and we took a seat. Assorted sodas and cold salads can be selected as you order. Addi brought our food to our table after 15 minutes and told us we're to find sauces. I had the bbq pork sandwich with fries. The sandwich is packed with a heaping portion of tender, juicy pork on a deli roll. The sandwich was a solid 5. The fries were ok. My husband had the breaded tenderloin, which was most likely prepared from a frozen patty. The sandwich was good, but not great. (Always order the bbq in a bbq place.) Seating is on wooden benches at trendy handmade tables. Also, an outside area has several umbrella covered. There is a small private parking lot and plenty of street parking. They are opened seven days a week but only for lunch. They do not serve alcohol. read more

Jawbone BBQ was catered to my work and it was life changing. I'd never heard of it before and expected it to be typical BBQ but it was far from that. The chicken was the smokey-est chicken I've ever had, not dry at all, filled with flavor. The mashed potatoes, green beans, chicken noodles and cheesy potato's were all 10/10, packed with flavor. The pulled pork was juicy. I can't say enough about how amazing this food was. I live 40min away but will absolutely make the drive to have this again. Great little diner in the small Indiana town of Advance. Appears to be a former grocery store, maybe a hardware or general store from back in the day. Could've even been a bank. Hostess was friendly. Very welcoming. I felt like I was stepping back in time in some sense. Now to the food. I had every intention of ordering bbq but instead opted for just a burger with all the fixings and fries. Quite possibly the best burger I've ever had. Fresh doesn't begin to describe the taste. I asked for lettuce, pickles, onions and tomatoes. I'm not even a huge tomato fan. But this puppy was thick and tasted straight out of Grandma's garden. Fries were hot and nice and crispy. Plus, not only did the $12 cover the burger and fries but it also came with a drink. They have gallon jugs of tea and lemonade in a glass-cased refrigerator. It's help yourself style. They also have bottled sodas if you prefer. Tables are picnic tables with benches. Very relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend. My ONLY issue is they're only open until 2pm and that's Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday. I happened to be in the area on a Thursday during lunchtime so I thought I'd stop in and help a local business. But do yourself a favor and check this place out. read more

Had pulled pork sandwich. A healthy portion, excellent bun, absolutely zero smoke. Sides and desserts do not taste like homemade

The Jawbone BBQ in Advance did not disappoint! Another first time visit for me and I went with the tri-tip pulled pork grill cheese sandwich. The sandwich comes un-sauced so you can customize as you like with the homemade sauce they have. The flavor of the Texas toast being buttered and toasted on the grill was a huge plus for the sandwich. The tri-tip was the star and full of flavor and piled high on the sandwich. I was so excited to try a bite I forgot to take my photo first so I apologize on the half eaten sandwich in my photo. The gentleman who checked us in explained the menu and the sides they have that are made fresh daily. The menu is also changing so I didn't take any photos of that. The Broccoli salad was my choice between coke slaw or potato salad. It was super fresh and had great flavor. Drinks came with our sandwiches and you serve yourself any of the fountain Pepsi products or fresh brewed Iced Tea. The hours are posted on their door and website. They also cater from small to large gatherings. The inside of the restaurant is pretty cool all the way from the very old front door to the rustic seating and table arrangements. Super friendly people and really good food! A little out of the way but way worth it! read more

These peeps were featured on Fox 59 last week, I have also followed them on Facebook. We were greeted kindly as we walked in, great explanations on all our questions! I ordered the 3rd place burger, great flavor and cooked just right served on a toasted bun. The meals come with a side and a drink I had the broccoli salad it had very good flavor they were also offering potato salad that day!! Don't let the drive or the small town keep you away, very rustic inside great decor! We were told they do a lot of catering so keep that in mind gor your needs also!! read more

While traveling from out of state, I picked out the place which is located in a tiny town near a state highway. There isn't much in either direction for awhile so I was hoping for a gem. While the employees were friendly and I loved the idea of an excellent bbq joint in a place hardly anyone would have heard of, the food unfortunately was just alright. Certainly it got the job done and I liked walking around the streets outside. But I couldn't say it's worth a detour unless you're starving and can't wait until the next city. read more

Awesome. As good as Franklin BBQ in Austin,TX. Great pulled pork and the real deal. Brought my buddy Cabo here and he ate 3 pounds of the turkey and had 7 diet cokes. Went back to his Gulfstream and blew up the toilet like alex after eating 14 tacos... sorry i digress. Great good BBQ and has awesome fried pickles. So many great things about this little bbq place/butcher shop. The menu changes daily but you can almost always count on fresh pulled pork and tenderloins. I especially love that they have a small meat counter where I can grab something for dinner on my way home. Their smoked pork chops and bacon wrapped filets are phenomenal. Friday night is Rib eye and baked potato night! You get a large rib eye steak cooked to perfection, and this $14.99 meal includes 2 sides and XL drink! My son had the steak and baked potato and green beans. Baked potato was huge. I opted for ribeye , cheesy potatoes and cole slaw. Slaw was excellent, cheesy potatoes average. Steaks were cooked just right and had excellent seasoning! The Jawbone does not have inside seating, but they do offer two shaded picnic tables outside. Rare find! It's almost a mirage.....there are no other businesses in this tiny town, except for an amazing bbq place. We live about 25 min away and had heard about it, but only recently made the trip. We tried the fried tenderloin, pasta salad, pulled pork and tater tots: pulled pork is so delicious, no sauce is needed; tenderloin is large and yummy, as are pasta salad (homemade) and tater tots. They are currently operating out of a tiny bldg with no indoor seating (outdoor seating available), but are scheduled to open a restaurant tomorrow that's only a few steps away.
